    Power on / charging issues

    • Written by from Singapore

I have had the same problem with power as others have highlighted before.
Essentially you cannot turn on the earphones even after charging them. If you connect a USB cable for about two seconds, and power on the earphones immediately, they can power on and will carry on as long as there is something playing. If you pause for even 5 seconds, they stop working and power down. You cannot turn them on until you insert some USB cable again.

It is mysterious - either the battery has not charged but it think it is fully charged. Or the battery is charged but the device does not recognize it and therefore does not turn on.

JayBird customer service advised me to reset the device. That seemed to help but was deceptive. Within a week it was back to the old state.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Apart from this, the earphones are fantastic but this is a complete dealbreaker since they simply do not power on / work.

    Dead after 3 months

    • Written by from sao paulo

I bought the JayBird BlueBuds in november/2014 at the Apple Store in Orlando. It worked perfectly for 3 months. Deep bass, good sound and easy connection. I used them to workout in the gym 2 hours a day, from mondays to fridays. But, suddenly, they began to turn on and off repeatedly and I cannot use them anymore.. I do not recommend these headphones.

Would have gotten a 5 star rating...

    • Written by from Edmonton

I purchased these earbuds on December 18th 2014. I used them in the gym and I used them outside. They stood up very well and never once fell out of my ears. I was even willing to overlook the fact that they seem to trap sweat in your ear and require quick removal and wiping half way through a workout. The best thing of all? They didn't have any lip-syncing issues AT ALL. I could watch a movie on the elliptical and never once see anything off in the timing of the audio against the video (for those who purchased PowerBeats 2, you'll know thats a big deal). But at the end of the day, the biggest issue of all is that they simply don't continue working.

After a couple weeks they would drop the pairing. Then they would spontaneously turn off. Then they would spontaneously turn back on and try redialing my phone... over and over and over again. Then... they died. Regardless of the full charge and all the cajoling I tried, these babies were dead less than a month into owning them.

According to the warranty, they have a lifetime guarantee against sweat. Based on the apparent glitchy behaviour of the control buttons, I am 100% certain that perspiration is what caused this issue. I have since bought a pair of Beats Tour, but if Jaybird ever owned up to this problem and fixed it, I would definitely try them again. In the mean time... anyone would be crazy to buy these earbuds. Do your research and you will see that the Bluebud X is notorious for this problem with some users going through 3 or more replacements and dealing with more frustration than they should ever have to. At this rate, they should be paying the consumer to try them out... its redials that this issue exists and that it is so predominant. Again... I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE EARBUDS AT THIS TIME.

    Mediocre

    • Written by from Bath

Sound quality and connecting them to a device can either be a complete breeze or an absolute nightmare. Not worth the money in my opinion. Been trying to connect them to my MacBook pro for the last hour, no success.

sound quality that of a $35 wired headphone

    • Written by from Las Vegas

I recently purchased these for use at the gym after long envying others I have seen. I was attracted by the style and was hoping for less hype than day the Beats model. Bottom line here is that as much as I wanted to like these, I thought the overall sound quality was so poor I literally could not stand using these beyond the second day and thus have already returned them. I have a couple other wired eadbud headphones in the $80-$140 range that simply blow these away and perhaps I have been spoiled by the excellent sound.

The JayBird's were ok for say listening to a podcast, but when I wanted to do some serious intensive cardio - I was more annoyed than anything else. I also found them a bit difficult to use in terms of say using the fast forward to skip songs. The placement was such that it was not as easy to get to or often resulted in my having to reposition the headphones far too often.

At thsi point I do not know if my negativity on the sound quality applies to all bluetooth models currently on the market, or if these are worse than similar priced options. Unfortunately one cannot really try these out in the stores.

For now I am just sticking to my old wired pairs.

    Not Sweat Proof

    • Written by from Maple Grove

I bought a pair in June. I use them for running. First pair died in about 3 weeks. JayBird replaced them. Second pair died in a month. JayBird replaced them. They made me pay the shipping!! Third pair died in about a month. Waiting for my fourth pair to ship. JayBird is fabulous at sending replacements. However, they often expect you to pay for shipping. $170 for a product that doesn't last more than a month is terrible. If you're a couch potato, you'll love these. When they work they're great! If you're active, you'll spend more time waiting to get your replacements than wearing and using them. It takes 1 to 2 weeks to get them replaced. DO NOT buy these if you're looking for something "sweat proof". Other reviews have negative remarks about the battery. Maybe. Not sure. I figure it's because I sweat on them.

Bad design or poor choice of battery suppilers

    • Written by from CHARLOTTE

Today, my BlueBuds X died, this is my second pair. When I attempt to charge them, the light immediately turns green, but they cannot be turned on. I don't ware them when I work out because they fit poorly when I sweat. For the price, these headphones should be able to last AT LEAST three years, but Jaybird evidently wants to make money swapping out their junk product. I cannot recommend this product or any product that is offered by this company since they obviously think too much of their product. Wish I could have given them 0 stars.

    Destined for your junk drawer

    • Written by from Blacksburg

I bought these a month and a half ago. I had to replace them a week after i bought them because the first set refused to take a charge. I thought it was a fluke. Six weeks later my second set has done the same thing. I decided to google "jaybirds won't take a charge" and lo and behold there is a world of folks out there who have bought these headsets and are holding a hundred and fifty dollar pair of junk. The sound IS good but if they aren't working that isn't much of a recommendation. There appears to be a battery design flaw and no one wants to admit to that so they blame everything from the charger to improper usage to anything else that keeps them from admitting they are selling junk.

    Good design. Not sweatproof.

    • Written by from New York

Really wanted to love these headphones. Design is very good, with ability to loop cables over your ears if you need more stability when exercising. Also provides small "clips" so cable doesn't sit on your neck when working it, which would be annoying and is how the older version works unfortunately.

Where these fall down, and in a very serious way, is they don't withstand sweat as advertised. While there is a lifetime warranty against malfunction due to sweat (buyer beware: at company's discretion), my headphones fail in less than 90 days every single time I've owned them when I've worked out regularly. It becomes such a pain to have to send them back (at your own expense, at least the first few times) and wait for your new ones to arrive.

I'd look elsewhere. Can't stress this enough. The older version with a less attractive design is much more resistant to sweat.

    'buds not re-charging

    • Written by from chiswick

Once I'd sorted the fit in the ears out all was going fine until, one day, the 'buds would not take a charge. Reading thru' the reviews, this appears to be a common type of failure in what should be a premium product. Not impressed. Until Jaybird address and rectify this fault I'd buy something else.

    Failure

    • Written by from Shanghai

Unfortunately you can't try or test them when you buy at the Apple SHop. After figuring out the different ear-buds and the ways you can wear them I was trying and testing the past 3-4 weeks again and again to find a comfortable and secure the wear them. Impossible. And my ears are not special at all. The sound quality is very disappointing. Even the standard iPhone 5s headphones are fitting better and the sound is much better. I was exited to find this earphones in the first place since I was looking for the right music gear for running but this was the worst purchase this year.

    Not sweatproof...

    • Written by from Mission Viejo

Wore these for running for two weeks, first failure after 7 runs - just stops playing, as though the control has been activated (NOT A BATTERY PROBLEM). Doesn't begin working properly again until dried out. Gave it 5 more runs, had the same issue runs 11 & 12. They remain in-ear as advertised, and battery life is good (pluses). Even tried using the supplied ties to keep the controller from touching me, but it still failed, though only marginally wet with sweat. If they were sweatproof, I would have kept them. Ended up returning them. Great idea, and if truly sweatproof, I would still have them. Probably deserves more stars for fit & sound, however, that doesn't count if they just shut off.

    Nice when were working

    • Written by from Escobedo

Had 2 of these headphones and both stopped working with same issues, I bought the second ones because I thought I was lucky with the first ones, but not the second ones had the same problem that the first ones and like many other reviews they worked for about a month then just stopped working for any reason, when I plug them to charge the led light goes to green and never turn on, too expensive for the quality they're built.

Sound great, fit secure even they look nice, but just last a month of use.
