The price to pay for freedom

After getting an iPhone 5 and having to deal with the (misplaced) headphone jack on the bottom always getting in the way, I couldn't take it any longer so I looked for a wireless headset. I came across these and was shocked by the price, but realized it was a small price to pay to not deal with that cord getting tangled up and yanked on all the time.

At first I was impressed with the sound, the weight, size, but the ear buds didn't fit well and it was impossible to get a good seal without them falling out all the time. I was about it call it quits on these, when I found some after market earphone tips from a company called Comply. Not only did the new tips make these fit properly and keep the headphone from slipping out all the time, they improved the sound quality significantly as well as improved the isolation. If you can afford these, they are well worth the price, but some aftermarket earphone tips are a must to make these shine.

Also, they battery life is great, and they work really well for making phone calls.

    BlueBuds X

    • Written by from Houston

I bought these headphones mostly for the gym, however little did I know that they would become my go-to pair for everything. The bluetooth works well, the sound quality is great, the bass is not too heavy so you can turn up the volume without getting a headache. The battery level indicator on my iPhone 5 is awesome (my bro wishes he had that feature on his bluetooth Beats) and they last around 6hrs with a full charge, like 3 gym sessions for me.

If you want these for the gym: There are clamps you can put on that make the headphones perfect for runs and very movement-heavy exercises. I sweat a lot and have had these for 4 months and theyre like new!

If you want them for everyday use: I have mine connected to my iPad and MacBook Pro all the time and they work just fine, connecting them is not hard at all. Being a college student, I use them during walks and I love that they dont have cords.

Probably one of my all time best purchases!

Excellent light weight earbuds for running

    • Written by from Valhalla

I was very hesitant once I bought these that they would stay fit while running. I think all the reviews are correct in that the under ear configuration does not work well for running as the cord side with the on/off dongle pulls the cord to one side and is not optimal. However, with the over the ear configuration, these buds are fantastic.

    Pros:
    - Lightweight
    - Excellent sound
    - Excellent battery life
    - Good over ear fit
    - Fit is modifiable with given accessories

    Cons:
    - Price
    - Poor under ear fit
    - Does not work well as a microphone
    - Really only useful for exercise

    Perfect

After purchasing these earbuds i was a little nervous about 3 things

    - Did I spend too much Price
    - How comfortable do they fit in my ears
    - How much do these weigh

After working out at YMCA i must say the price is definitely worth it. I've never spent so much on a pair of headphones in my life but at the same time i have never used such a comfortable, light weight, and awesome pair in my life before. The wireless bluetooth feature is by far the coolest thing. I still have no idea how they were able to cram a battery and bluetooth adapter into them because they are so light weight. ITs also very nice of them to include extra ear pieces so you can make sure they fit your ear properly. Best purchase i have made in a long time. And as a bonus feature they make you wanna work out just so you can use them!!!

Right earbud went dead within 60 days

I love the convenience and size of these headphones. I have previously worn only Motorola bluetooth headphones while running. Within, 60 days the audio in the right ear bud has become non audible. I have contacted the manufacture, and I am hopeful for service recovery which would entail prompt replacement. That would change my rating.

These wireless headphones are a fantastic product. Somehow they manage to get great battery life and provide quality, balanced audio in a package only marginally larger than a standard wired in-ear headphone. Microphone performance is good enough to use Siri accurately, meaning you can leverage the best technology has to offer for an effortlessly futuristic experience -- and you don't have to worry about your phone calls being misunderstood.

Jaybird claims to have developed their own implementation of the SBC codec to improve audio quality and performance over standard BT headsets. I believe it. This is one of many features that show the passion Jaybird's engineers have for wireless sport headphones. Good attention to detail.

I've had these headphones for a week now and I am impressed. If you're looking for a nice pair of bluetooth headphones and prefer the clarity of noise-isolating in-ear headphones you'd be foolish to pass these over.

Note: I originally purchased a pair from a major B&M retailer. That pair had an audible radio buzz and less than stellar signal reception (Jaybird's live support told me to return them as defective). The pair I ordered from Apple appears to have a slightly revised housing and I've noticed "Jenna" now gives a low battery alert (in contrast to the earlier revision's beeping). They're the same price elsewhere, so don't be daft.

    Not what everyone says

I was looking to improve comfort of my runs with these headphones. Unfortunately these are not worth the price. While running ear piece would loosen up and have to continue to push back into inner ears. Under style pulls against neck feeling every step taken, while over the ear style feels heavy and not in place. Sound is great when in quiet room. Once outdoors running, sound is not up to wired volume. Build quality is AWESOME. Voice Jenna is great and battery indicator on iPhone 5 status bar is a plus. If improve ear mount like Bose Sport SIE2i and sound volume outdoors, I may come back to these, until then sticking with wired Bose SIE2i for running...

Have been using wired earphones during my workouts but the wires get in the way. Tried several bluetooth ones but this one is the best for me. Stays in place, great sound, also, able to put up with my strenuous workouts without a problem.

Bought my first pair last week at the Apple store and returned them the next day, left bud was dead. Tried another pair which sound good when working, but they dropout too often and sometimes will not connect. Seems like we are their beta testers!

Painful fit, low volume, heavy on ears, cord too long, cord pulls at neck, no way to know when they will all of a sudden run out of power, way too big - stick out of ears quite far, case is useless, power cover is plastic and cheap and will break quickly.

    Not for Running or Exercise

I really wanted to like these, but I ended up returning them (and thank you Apple Store - the return process could not have been easier).

The bluetooth connection was good - but not consistent. The fit in the ear was not great - I ended up using the over the ear loop piece because I could never get the "in-ear" fitting to work correctly. The loop that goes around the neck was not good at all - it constantly pulled to one side. This made the earbud want to come out of my ear.

I was using these for running. If I had not been using them for exercise, they might have worked better.

If you are looking for headphones to use while exercising/running, I can't recommend these.

Right track, not ready for prime time

I bought and returned these to the Philly app store in the 14-day window. The concept is great but the design needs work.
    1) The in-ear fit for me was just not comfortable. I tried all the ear tips and was able to get a good seal but they made my ears hurt after ~15-20 minutes. When running I could live with it but for conference calls or sitting around it was very noticeable. I had the same problem with the B+W C5s...both have larger 'barrels" under the ear tips so that is my best guess as to the cause
    2) Lots of bluetooth trouble. Setup was great but I had frequent dropouts and failure-to-connect using them with my iPhone 4s (with up to date IOS).
    3) The earbuds stick out really far so you can't lean your head on a pillow (e.g. airplane flight, falling asleep to music). That's only a minor thing for me; maybe it matters to you.
    3) The sound quality was great for music and for calls...wish they worked better overall.

    Best in-ear headphones, period.

Negative reviews from what I've heard are because of the phone they are using or perhaps a faulty product... but this product comes with a lifetime guarantee. How many devices these days come with that?

First of all, my experience with these headphones have exceeded my expectations. Now let it be known that I have the iPhone 5. The audio NEVER cuts out, and I've tried this at a pretty decent distance. Also, the connection never cuts out or drops whenever it's in your pocket.

This is REALLY cool, the fact that these Bluetooth headphones sound this well and stay connected this well. BUT, what really has me sold on this product is that fact that they will STAY IN YOUR EARS!

I've searched far and wide to find in-ear headphones that wouldn't fall out of my ears, so I could go running or simply walk in town with my dog, but these headphones are also excellent for working out and playing sports!

It's a little tricky finding the right size for the slide-on features that will in the end help them stay nice and tight in your ear without feeling pressure and making your ear sore.

The fact that you can have them behind or have them hanging down is another big plus. Personally I prefer them to be behind on my neck.

I would HIGHLY recommend this product! The differences between the two BlueBuds X on here is simply the colour, both should work the same.

    A BIG LIE! AWFUL PRODUCT!

Ok.. I'm very mad about this.. I bought them like 2 months ago, I used It for 1 week and They stop charging, I went to an apple Store and They changed them and gave me a new ones... (for the record, this headphones here in Mexico are like $140.00 dollars). I used the new one like for another 2 weeks and a half and today they stop charging.. They are selling the nice box and the idea of the bluetooth but really is a very poor quality.

And just another thing that really impressed me: In the web page you can see people sweating and making exercise with them, and the funny thing is that when you open the box of the headphone the first thing you can read is: DON'T SWEAT IT YOU'RE GUARANTEED.

So really for me is a big joke this headphone.. shame.

    Beware - poor quality

I am now on my third pair. The previous two suffered from the same fate as many others have spoken about in these reviews - they just stop working. Fully charged after 30 minutes or so they just turn off/stop working. No warning either. They won't turn back on until I've put them back on the charger. I sweat a lot and I'm thinking the seal around the port doesn't completely seal out the moisture. After a while that moisture works its magic and that spells doom for these otherwise wonderful headphones. I purchased mine at a local Best Buy. Thank goodness they just take the broken set and give me another. I'm fully expecting these to stop working and when they do I will move on to something else. Too bad. They held so much promise.

When I decided to invest in Bluetooth headphones I spent hours researching products and settled on these and they do not disappoint. Anyone who says they do not stay put need to spend a bit more time fitting them because once you have the right cushion size and angle of the tips they do not budge. These are perfect for the gym but also for work as we have a no cell policy but I can have it locked away in my desk but still listen to music. The battery life has impressed me and only once have they died on me but I was well informed by the “Jenna voice prompts” that the battery was low. The sound quality is great and the white noise filtering was tested at my gym when they had a live DJ blasting horrible music that was drowned out once my headphones were on.
