    More electronics for the landfill

    • Written by from VANCOUVER

I bought one about 18months ago thinking it was of good quality. It worked fine for about 1 year then I stopped using it for a few months. When I went to reuse it, it would not recharge. Into the landfill.

    Bluetooth connectivity

    • Written by from Temple city

I just bought the JBL flip 2 today and the bass was amazing, after turning it off, and turning it on seconds later, my iPad wasn't paired with the JBL, I later figured out from some researching that if you hold the power button down for a few seconds and makes a beep noise, it will try to find a device to pair too.

    Great Sound; Poor Battery

    • Written by from Louisville

This device produces great sound and I love how loud it can get. However, the battery life is right around 4-5 hours which doesn't even get me through a full work day. It's also a little difficult getting the hang of connecting it to your bluetooth devices. If you're wanting a good device for it's sound, BUY IT. If you want a device for the maneuverability and battery life, don't buy it.

Bluetooth Does Not Connect to 5s - "Devices Searching"

    • Written by from New York

I purchased this speaker about 8 months ago when I had an iPhone 4. I loved it. It was really easy to use, the sound was fantastic and I very much enjoyed listening to my music from my phone with ease. I recently purchased the iPhone 5s and it will not connect to my JBL FLIP. When I turn on my bluetooth it simply says "devices searching," eventually drains my battery and never connects. The product description claims it's compatible with both devices, but unfortunately that was not the case for me.

Sounds great, but volume will only go so low

    • Written by from rogue river

This is a great little speaker for larger rooms. If you're looking for something for an office like I was, this will blow you out of the room. My only issue, if you can even call it that, was that the volume will only go so low before muting, it was just too loud for my office and will have to return it. Other than that, this speaker is awesome, great sound! Would highly recommend if you're looking for some loud awesome sound.

    Best portable BT speaker

For the price, you really get fantastic value. Probably the best portable speaker out there for smartphones and tablets. Totally worth it.

    Easy Config, Perfect Sound

    • Written by from West Hartford

Sure, you are going to hear much bigger sound from the $200+ bluetooth speakers. But, for the price, you can not beat this little gem. The bluetooth discovery with iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro is a cinch. And it delivers an exceptionally full sound for its size - thick bass, clear highs. Great value. Other reviewers are correct that USB charging would have been a nice feature.

    Short - term brilliance

    • Written by from chch

These speakers sound great and are easy to use as all of the reviews suggest, however unfortunately my experience with them is not so favorable. In short, they worked brilliantly for about half an hour and are now merely frustrating paperweights.

I bought the JBL speakers at a duty free on my way out of Lyon, they were great the first time I used them as I have a Macbook air which has terrible speakers they were a good way of getting decent sound when watching movies. However the next morning I was playing some music through my phone and they began to turn off and on and eventually died completely. I thought it was the battery even though the charge meter said that it was full... I proceeded to charge them for the next 24 hours with no success... they are dead. After one day.

The manual is terrible, there is very little support offered through JBL as well, even though their email says they will respond within one day they haven't after a week. I dont think there is any kind of reset or restart function anywhere, so there is very little you can do if this happens to you.

All in all very frustrating, so beware.. they are great but if something goes wrong you are out of luck. Unfortunately I am not confident of returning them as being from NZ I won't be going through Lyon airport anytime soon.

    Holy ****!

    • Written by from Kingston

During the Christmas holidays, I got the chance to sample one of these since my uncle had bought one for my aunt. After I paired it with her iPhone and the music started playing, I was blown away. My mouth hung open for a while as I kept listening, amazed at the clarity of the sound from this little thing. The entire room was filled with crisp highs and, for its size, impressive lows. For a moment I actually thought it was a joke — that someone had hidden a high-end audio system elsewhere in the room. If I had a need for a wireless external speaker, I'd snag this in a heartbeat.

Works with apple as well as android devices.

    • Written by from FORT COLLINS

The audio output of this device is satisfactory if not excellent. Had it for a month. Happy and content with it.

The reason why I wanted to write this review is for all the people who cannot connect a new device to this speaker be it an iPad, iPhone or an android phone with Bluetooth capability.
Also to be clear, we know that this speaker is meant to connect to only ONE DEVICE AT A TIME ( makes sense right ?? :=) sure )

Ok now follow these steps while connecting to a new device
    1) turn off Bluetooth on the previous connected device ( or unpair it from the JBL flip device )
    2) turn on Bluetooth on the new device ( could be your iPad, Samsung s4 or whatever...)
    3) press the power button on the JBL speaker for a few seconds until the blue light on it flashes to red/blue continuously. This is when it can pair with a new device. At this stage if you look in your phones list of devices available, you find the JBL flip :).
    4) that's it you are done !!! Hit connect device from the phone and you are all set for some wireless muzzzziccccing

    Enjoy !!!

PS: the reason I wrote this review was not to tell you about the quality of this speaker but for all those who had problems connecting a new device to this BT speaker. Like my gf who thought this device would only connect to an IPhone and was mean to her Samsung S4 :)

    really worth its price

    • Written by from Landgraaf

I bought this speaker yesterday and I am really glad I finally got a good speaker with so great sound for such a small device.

I don't have any problems with the bluetooth connection.
And if you have problems, you can still use a aux cable to connect..

    Especially for the price/quality I give it a 5 out of 5.

    Agree with other posts

    • Written by from NEWMARKET

Bought the JBL Flip today. Yes the sound quality is very good, but it does seem to have some connectivity issues that need to be addressed. I just finished watching a movie and every twenty minutes or so id lose Bluetooth connection - the speaker was right beside my computer so there should have been no reason to lose the connection. I will be returning the product tomorrow. As well I forwarded an email to JBL advising they need to take a serious look at their setup instructions. I have never experienced instructions that were so poorly written as they were.

Before "returning it because it won't sync", read this... I bet it's OK

    • Written by from Dardenne Prairie

I too was blown away by the sound of this little gem. That being said, JBL -- the manual is junk!Pictures sometimes are NOT intuitive. You need to invest in some instructions for this! I see the previous person actually returned theirs because it wouldn't sync. I posted my experience and success story in the Apple Communities iPad mini section just a bit ago... other than the useless manual, this is a great product and I look forward to using it more!

Great for Iphone but won't pair with Ipad

    • Written by

the sound is incredible... and pairing on Iphone was easy. However, I cannot get it to pair with Ipad. I've turned off bluetooth on Iphone and turned off Iphone. I've reset bluetooth on Ipad and shut down Ipad and tried absolutely everything. But when I turn on bluetooth in Ipad and turn on the JBL Flip speaker... they're both just searching and searching and never find one another.

I'm going to return this to Amazon tomorrow and try something else. Too bad, because the sound is great.

Great sound - perfect for cycling!

    • Written by from San Marcos

The sound is amazing for the size, and pairing is simple and reliable. It also fits almost perfectly in a water bottle cage on a bike. I use a couple of old rubber bracelets (like the LiveStrong bracelet) to hold it in place and I have mobile tunes on bike rides. People comment all the time how awesome that is, and I love it. The only con is, as other reviews have stated, that it should have a USB port for charging. Other than that, this thing was worth it at twice the price!

    Decent sound, horrible Blue Tooth

    • Written by from Plant City

If you're an audiophile, run as fast as you can, but it sounds fairly well for what it is, but my complaint is with the Blue Tooth. Sometimes it works flawlessly, other times I want to throw the piece of garbage at the salesman who talked me into buying it.

the great portable speaker, in term of portable.

    • Written by from Bangkok

Great or may be the greatest small portable speaker, sound balance from bass to treble is good enough.
But, keep in mind, it has small driver unit and quality of the bluetooth signal transfer is not so great in todays technology.
It has no way to compete with the conventional speaker system with a decent amp, plus a pair of decent copper cable.
Am I asking too much? :-)
