Great sound - perfect for cycling!

    • Written by from San Marcos

The sound is amazing for the size, and pairing is simple and reliable. It also fits almost perfectly in a water bottle cage on a bike. I use a couple of old rubber bracelets (like the LiveStrong bracelet) to hold it in place and I have mobile tunes on bike rides. People comment all the time how awesome that is, and I love it. The only con is, as other reviews have stated, that it should have a USB port for charging. Other than that, this thing was worth it at twice the price!

    Decent sound, horrible Blue Tooth

    • Written by from Plant City

If you're an audiophile, run as fast as you can, but it sounds fairly well for what it is, but my complaint is with the Blue Tooth. Sometimes it works flawlessly, other times I want to throw the piece of garbage at the salesman who talked me into buying it.

the great portable speaker, in term of portable.

    • Written by from Bangkok

Great or may be the greatest small portable speaker, sound balance from bass to treble is good enough.
But, keep in mind, it has small driver unit and quality of the bluetooth signal transfer is not so great in todays technology.
It has no way to compete with the conventional speaker system with a decent amp, plus a pair of decent copper cable.
Am I asking too much? :-)

    Believe the hype

    • Written by from Lombard

I was looking for a speaker that sounded good and was semi portable. I wasn't sure about this speaker at first because it wasn't setup at the store to test out. I got it home and it sounds great, don't let the looks fool you. I thought it was going to be a flat sounding portable speaker. But what this is a rich sounding portable speaker. You can't go wrong with this speaker if you are looking for a small portable speaker that has decent sound.

Sounds Great When it Wants to

    • Written by from New York

I had high hopes of this speaker after all the great reviews it got. But when I got home and tried it out it was horrible. After charging it for 3 hours, the speaker sounded low and muffled as if it had been submerged in water. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and hoped that I just gotten the bad one of the bunch and exchanged it for another. The second one wouldn't connect at all to my MacBook, or iPad. I finally got it to work on my phone and it sounded great (which is why I gave it two stars) but it would skip parts of the song or glitch too much making it hard to enjoy the music. I wouldn't recommend it at all unfortunately.

Great product ! Worth to buy

    • Written by from Tangerang

I got it today, bought it IDR 1,300,000 or its about $130 in Indonesia, I decided to returned my JBL micro ( slightly cheaper $ 80 in indonesia ) and chose JBL flip as replacement, personally compared to JBL micro, JBL flip have more deep bass, clear sound, and loud, plus easy to connect to any Bluetooth device and i don't have any issues with the Bluetooth connection. With 3 hours charged the battery last exactly for 5 hours. I wish it could be more than 5 hours..

Best sound quality, worst Bluetooth signal.

    • Written by from Hillsboro

The sound quality on the Flip is unreal! It blows all the others out of the water. Lots of bass and doesn't get get distorted when you crank up the volume. I've had mine for almost 6 months now. I use it everyday at work.

The only thing it could use is a stronger Bluetooth signal. It's really lacking when compared to some of the others. And more recently, about every 30 minutes it will cut out for a second. But I work in a room with high voltage notorious for eating up radios. So, leave your device close to the speaker and its a great product.

    Compact power

    • Written by

Had to get a portable radio so I took a chance with this one. At first glance, it doesn't look like it can pack a punch but it definitely can. I like the Bluetooth connection as well because it allows me to have my phone on me while I'm playing music. I am impressed!

    Very Pleased.

    • Written by from Tokyo

I just got it today. I compared it to a couple of other models by other makers, both of which I respect and one that I'm stubbornly loyal to. I had some JBL speakers in high school though, and this Flip caught my eye.

In the store, she instantly had the other two contenders eating her dust.

Got home, opened the box and charged the battery, tested it out and laughed out loud at the beauty of this fine product.

Very, very pleased. Hats off to the fine people of JBL and the fine people of Apple for providing us with this.

    Very proud.

JBL FLIP = Clear sound, deep bass at a really small price!

    • Written by from POINTE-AUX-TREMBLES

I went originally to the apple store to buy either a Jambox or a JBL MICRO. But I ended buying a JBL Flip. The sales person at the store said that this product should do the work as good as a jambox (which is more expensive) and hundred times better than a JBL Micro ($40 less). So, I've decided to trust him and give it a try!! As soon as the pairing was made with my mac and the music started, I knew I bought an incredible product! And there's also a Mic to answer calls that works great! I saw some reviews that said that the Bluetooth wasn't working properly with an obstruction between the phone and the speaker. So, I went I'm my garage to test it, I placed my phone behind a 2 inch metal plate at 20 feet away from the speaker and the sound was still perfect! I highly recommend it to someone who want to buy a good portable speaker with big sound and deep bass at around $100-150.

I was looking & looking to get a speaker.... Took me a moth to drop the $$$ due to the reviews. So I said for only $100 why not! Since I can't stop listening to the music!!! JBL really out did themselves with such a small compact bluetooth speaker. Granted some of the other speakers out there you spend more money for you'll have better quality, but for $100 (actually $99.99) this lil speakers are more then loud enough ti listen to music either on your iPhone/ iPad/ MAC etc... Also I listen to EVERY genre and love and they handle all music with no issue.

    Great for Classroom Training

    • Written by from Roswell

I do a lot of presentations and this is a very easy product to use. The first time that I used it, I literally took it out of the packaging and plugged it into the wall and connected an audio cable to my iphone. I appreciate both the ability to use it plugged into a power source as well as the wireless (bluetooth) and internal rechareable battery. You can place the speakers closer to the audience and speak from the podium and still control the volume from the iphone volume buttons. The sound is phenominal and the ability to fill a room is the best I have used for portable speakers.

While the sound quality is pretty decent, the bluetooth connection is very unreliable. It keeps cutting out when connected and then takes a really long time to reconnect. Also has to be very close to whatever it's connecting to or it doesn't work. I'm bummed that I will be returning to store, was hoping not to have to spend a fortune just to get a decent wireless speaker.

    Bluetooth FAIL

    • Written by from San Francisco

Was really excited when I bought this little guy. The sound was pretty robust for how much you pay and the battery life was cool. The downfall of this product is it's bluetooth connection.

If I have the speaker 2 feet away and I place the phone in my pocket, the bluetooth immediately cuts out. Any time the smallest barrier comes between the speaker and device, no matter how short the distance is, the bluetooth becomes spotty and struggles to maintain the sound.

I bought the Logitech UE portable boom box as its replacement and I'm way more content than I was with the Flip.

    Jus sayin'

    Horrible sound

    • Written by from Sonoma

I bought this to replace my Logitech speakers. Big mistake. The base on it is non existent and it sounds horrible for a "room filling" sound. I would say its good as a desk speaker and that's about it. I love my Logitech and will stick with the same speaker just the new Bluetooth version. This JBL is not great. If you want good base and good loud sound you may need to go with a more expensive speaker from them.

Seriously NOT happy with this product!

    • Written by from Moose Jaw

My husband bought me the JBL Flip speaker for Christmas and right up to just last week I loved it! Absolutely no problems, great sound, etc. But on Monday, March 18, 2013 it decided to quit working with my iPad after about 1 1/2 minutes of play time. At first I thought it was just the Bluetooth connection so I disconnected the Bluetooth and tethered it to the iPad with a belkin cable. It did the exact same thing over and over again with the Bluetooth connected or not! We sent an email to JBL asking for help and their so called experts told us that we had to turn up the volume on the iPad and only control the sound by the FLIP! Seriously! Even though we knew that this was probably untrue we tried it and of course we were right it was and it didn't work! I know this is not an Apple product but we did buy it from the Apple store and it kind of makes me lose faith in your external product endorsements! I am not sure what to do next?? Can somebody help me out?? Any ideas??

    Fun little speaker

    • Written by

This speaker has not let me down. I use this when I go over to my boyfriends house because he has an old boombox and its funny how this thing can outperform that! It is small, easy to take with you wherever you go, and best of all, it is so loud for its size. It also has bluetooth connectivity which is great when I want to watch DVDs on my computer and dont want to plug anything in. Hands-down, great investment for price - I'm gonna get my little brother one for his birthday.

good for the price, has its issues.

    • Written by from Monterrey

For $99 i doubt you can find anything better. Problem is, the bluetooth technology itself still has a lot of room for improvement. The speaker goes like crazy when I'm using it on my macbook & there's a phone call on my cell (cracks, pop sounds, etc.). Guess the radio frequencies just clash or something. On my phone (Android) I cannot use WiFi at all while using the speaker via bluetooth (wifi just keeps crashing). On my macbook this problem is less severe, it's still kind of annoying, but at least YOU CAN stream sound and use wifi at the same time.

I do not blame these issues on JBL, there's a lot of users who experience problems like these on other bluetooth accesories. Also, the battery charger could have been USB, and battery life is quite frankly dissappointing. Sounds great though, although you can enhance the bass (which is pretty lacking) if you place the speaker over a small pillow-like surface. Also place the speaker about 3-5 feet high, and 4-5 feet or more away from you: trust me, it'll just sound better to your ears.
