Doesn't work with Iphone 6 upgrage

    • Written by from Saint Cloud

Awesome speaker for my old Iphone 5 but don't expect it to work when you upgrade to an Iphone 6. Iphone 6 doesn't seem to connect to any of my bluetooth devices.

    Bluetooth connectivity

    • Written by from Temple city

I just bought the JBL flip 2 today and the bass was amazing, after turning it off, and turning it on seconds later, my iPad wasn't paired with the JBL, I later figured out from some researching that if you hold the power button down for a few seconds and makes a beep noise, it will try to find a device to pair too.

    Easy Config, Perfect Sound

    • Written by from West Hartford

Sure, you are going to hear much bigger sound from the $200+ bluetooth speakers. But, for the price, you can not beat this little gem. The bluetooth discovery with iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro is a cinch. And it delivers an exceptionally full sound for its size - thick bass, clear highs. Great value. Other reviewers are correct that USB charging would have been a nice feature.

Works with apple as well as android devices.

    • Written by from FORT COLLINS

The audio output of this device is satisfactory if not excellent. Had it for a month. Happy and content with it.

The reason why I wanted to write this review is for all the people who cannot connect a new device to this speaker be it an iPad, iPhone or an android phone with Bluetooth capability.
Also to be clear, we know that this speaker is meant to connect to only ONE DEVICE AT A TIME ( makes sense right ?? :=) sure )

Ok now follow these steps while connecting to a new device
    1) turn off Bluetooth on the previous connected device ( or unpair it from the JBL flip device )
    2) turn on Bluetooth on the new device ( could be your iPad, Samsung s4 or whatever...)
    3) press the power button on the JBL speaker for a few seconds until the blue light on it flashes to red/blue continuously. This is when it can pair with a new device. At this stage if you look in your phones list of devices available, you find the JBL flip :).
    4) that's it you are done !!! Hit connect device from the phone and you are all set for some wireless muzzzziccccing

    Enjoy !!!

PS: the reason I wrote this review was not to tell you about the quality of this speaker but for all those who had problems connecting a new device to this BT speaker. Like my gf who thought this device would only connect to an IPhone and was mean to her Samsung S4 :)

Before "returning it because it won't sync", read this... I bet it's OK

    • Written by from Dardenne Prairie

I too was blown away by the sound of this little gem. That being said, JBL -- the manual is junk!Pictures sometimes are NOT intuitive. You need to invest in some instructions for this! I see the previous person actually returned theirs because it wouldn't sync. I posted my experience and success story in the Apple Communities iPad mini section just a bit ago... other than the useless manual, this is a great product and I look forward to using it more!

the great portable speaker, in term of portable.

    • Written by from Bangkok

Great or may be the greatest small portable speaker, sound balance from bass to treble is good enough.
But, keep in mind, it has small driver unit and quality of the bluetooth signal transfer is not so great in todays technology.
It has no way to compete with the conventional speaker system with a decent amp, plus a pair of decent copper cable.
Am I asking too much? :-)

Great product ! Worth to buy

    • Written by from Tangerang

I got it today, bought it IDR 1,300,000 or its about $130 in Indonesia, I decided to returned my JBL micro ( slightly cheaper $ 80 in indonesia ) and chose JBL flip as replacement, personally compared to JBL micro, JBL flip have more deep bass, clear sound, and loud, plus easy to connect to any Bluetooth device and i don't have any issues with the Bluetooth connection. With 3 hours charged the battery last exactly for 5 hours. I wish it could be more than 5 hours..

Best sound quality, worst Bluetooth signal.

    • Written by from Hillsboro

The sound quality on the Flip is unreal! It blows all the others out of the water. Lots of bass and doesn't get get distorted when you crank up the volume. I've had mine for almost 6 months now. I use it everyday at work.

The only thing it could use is a stronger Bluetooth signal. It's really lacking when compared to some of the others. And more recently, about every 30 minutes it will cut out for a second. But I work in a room with high voltage notorious for eating up radios. So, leave your device close to the speaker and its a great product.

good for the price, has its issues.

    • Written by from Monterrey

For $99 i doubt you can find anything better. Problem is, the bluetooth technology itself still has a lot of room for improvement. The speaker goes like crazy when I'm using it on my macbook & there's a phone call on my cell (cracks, pop sounds, etc.). Guess the radio frequencies just clash or something. On my phone (Android) I cannot use WiFi at all while using the speaker via bluetooth (wifi just keeps crashing). On my macbook this problem is less severe, it's still kind of annoying, but at least YOU CAN stream sound and use wifi at the same time.

I do not blame these issues on JBL, there's a lot of users who experience problems like these on other bluetooth accesories. Also, the battery charger could have been USB, and battery life is quite frankly dissappointing. Sounds great though, although you can enhance the bass (which is pretty lacking) if you place the speaker over a small pillow-like surface. Also place the speaker about 3-5 feet high, and 4-5 feet or more away from you: trust me, it'll just sound better to your ears.

    Great Buy (But somewhat misleading)

    • Written by from Rockaway

I love the JBL Flip, for the price point, it's the best sounding, i love the simple design and how it can stand in two different ways. Having had JBL bookshelf speakers for about a decade, ive been very satisfied with their quality so i wasn't shocked when I was satisfied with the flip. One thing that's annoying though, is it won't connect to my Macbook Air for really no reason! It's advertised as being compatible with any bluetooth device, yet the compatibility chart on the web doesn't show computer specs, other than that, very satisfied!

I have the JBL on stage 3P, which has more power and twice number of speaker and this little guy sounds better. Totally worth the 100 bucks to be wireless, although it definitely does not last 5 hours on a charge, more like 3.

    pleasant surprise

    • Written by from Woodbridge

Turning this thing on definitely made my mouth drop. The clarity and volume this flip produces is worth mentioning. However, the bluetooth is horrible.

    But...for $99 you can't complain

I would give this a 5 if it had a USB cable/port. Sound is awesome! Returned an iHome speaker for this. iHome products are terrible, don't buy them! JBL has a history in audio and it shows.
