    Bluetooth cuts off...

I've had this product about a month and while it seem to work okay at first, now the Bluetooth connection continually cuts off after about a minute or two. I'm sure this is a problem of the JBL Flip speaker because 1) my other speakers work well with connected to the same phone, and 2) other reviewers have mentioned the same problem. Too bad because like other reviewers I am impressed by the sound quality.

It;s amazing how good (and how loud) this speaker is. I've seen some reviews mention blue tooth connection problems. I've had no problems when I'm connected by my iPhone 5, but some dropped connections when using my first generation iPad. I recommend this speaker.

    JBL Flip...GREAT SPEAKER!

First, I can't believe this speaker is not advertised on the wireless speaker page of the Apple Store...you have look it up in the search box. I have the Bose Soundlink which sounds Great...but then I also bought the Shocbox which was a dismal speaker. The Shocbox had a great theory on it's design, but failed miserably on sound and pairing. Now, I just got my new JBL Flip, which is clear, loud and nicely designed. It is not as loud as my Bose, but again for it's size it is quite impressive. I wanted a very portable speaker for school, as I am a PE teacher at an elementary school so my kids and I could have music wherever we go on the playground. Super sound at a very reasonable price. You can't go wrong with this speaker and I highly recommend the JBL Flip!

Bluetooth works about 25% of the time

The sound of this little speaker is fantastic, but the vast majority of the times I try to use it, it fails to connect to my computer, even when it's sitting 10 inches away. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this inconsistency. If you're going to buy this product (the sound and small size make it worthwhile), purchase a speaker connector so you can make a hardwire connection between it and your iPhone, computer, or whatever.

    bluetooth problems

    • Written by from Toronto

11 of 12 people found this useful

I'm also experiencing problems with the bluetooth cutting out. If I have my iphone in my pocket and just turn away from the speaker, or put my hand over my pocket, it skips... I see others have this problem, but does anyone not have this issue?
I am thinking of returning it, but if the problem is limited to a subset of units, perhaps I should exchange it and try another unit.
The sound is fantastic and the small footprint is great, so I am considering keeping it and simply leaving my phone beside it while using it - but this sort of defeats the purpose.

Thanks to JBL for making an excellent product. Blows the Jawbone Jambox mini away in sound, loudness, styling and only 2/3 the price of the overpriced Jawbone..

I thought this would be a good Bluetooth speaker but when I actualy gave it a whirl not so good first of all I had issues with skipping sounds and then crackling then the Bluetooth range is very limited. Not recommended
The sound is ok if you hardware it but what's the sense also no micro USB charger that's even worse

Just arrived in the mail today. It has been great so far, couple skips but seemed to work great after a few tries.

Will update the review if anything changes.

Didn't work with my iPad mini...

Got it for Christmas. It worked fine with my iPod. Great sound. But it did not work with my iPad mini. So I went back to the Apple Store. I've tried with a different package. It was same. iPad mini didn't recognize JBL Flip. So I had to return it. Too bad... BTW, at the Apple Store, the person who was helping me tried to connect her iPad with JBL Flip. It didn't work either.

    Problems with JBL Flip

    • Written by from Matthews

13 of 19 people found this useful

The Bluetooth would only synch with iPod5 and not accept iPad 2nd generation nor the iPhone 4. The other problem was songs and audiobooks would skip while playing even when the Flip was less than 10 ft away from from the iPod. There is a video review on Youtube made recently that shows the skip problem. I am returning this product and contacting JBL about the problems.

Turning this thing on definitely made my mouth drop. The clarity and volume this flip produces is worth mentioning. However, the bluetooth is horrible.

    But...for $99 you can't complain

What a bluetooth speaker should sound like!

I've listen to them all including the Bose Soundlink and nothing sounds as good as the JBL Flip.Hands down the best.Long battery life, easy to connect and good distance. This speaker is also loud and very clear at it's loudest.Good base and great highs.Forget the $200 Foxl and check this out for under a hundred. You will be happy with this one.Better get it at this price because JBL is catching on to it's popularity .I've seen it for $129 elsewhere.

    great sounding speaker

I bought this speaker for my wife to use with her I-pad and I-phone. Sure we can go wireless through our big sound system but you have to turn on about 4 things to hear it. Once this speaker is synced up, which takes seconds, it's just a push of one button.

As far as the sound quality, I was amazed. I have Bose speakers and everyone seems to compare the quality of audio to this name brand so here it is. The Bose speaker may throw off a little more bass but if you just listened to the music without seeing a logo on the side of the speaker, the quality is about as close as you can get. There is no reason in the world to spend 3-4 hundred dollars on a single speaker when this JVC speaker is available for about a hundred. If my memory is working correctly, JVC has been making high quality speakers long before Bose ever came into existence.

If your looking for sound quality and portability, you will not be disappointed with this JVC speaker.

I bought this for my mom for christmas this year and she can't seem to put it down! She had been asking for a nice PORTABLE speaker for her iPhone and she said this is perfect. As far as sound goes, it will not disappoint! It gets pretty loud considering its size (which is not much bigger than a soda can!). The bluetooth works exceptionally well. It has a very clean, and sleek look. My only complaint is that when you aren't listening to is beautiful audio it makes a buzzing noise which isn't a very big deal but it can be somewhat annoying, I understand that some speakers do that but it can just get on your nerves a little bit. Besides that I love this speaker and it was one of my moms favorite gifts this year!

    Seriously weak bluetooth connection??

    • Written by from Calgary

Just bought a JBL Flip. Absolutely LOVE the sound. BEST of all mobile speakers we've tried and a steal at $99! But the bluetooth connection is seriously weak (useless)! Anyone else has problem their Flip's bluetooth connection? A wall or a thin door will cause the Flip some dropouts in data causing skips in audio! The crazy thing is if I put my body in between my phone and the JBL Flip, it causes drop out already!!! In contrast, a first gen Logitech mini boombox doesn't sound as good as the Flip, but it has no problem sending signals pass 2-3 walls perfectly! Does anyone else have problem with their Flip's bluetooth connection? I am hoping I just have a defective unit but I don't know ...

this speaker will give you a blast, better than the jambox or the dr. dre beats pill. value and sound at its best. totally worth it, totally surprised by the great sound it gives. you can't go wrong with this purchase. the bose soundlink wins the pack but at $300-plus, most will find it too pricey. for $99, the jbl flip takes the cake...
