    Best case on the market

    • Written by from Montgomery

Very durable yet sleek case. Provides excellent protection without the bulk of an otter box. I've had this case for about 9 months and it still looks brand new (kind of unheard of for an iphone case). Best case out there in my opinion.

    Defying gravity!

    • Written by from Kenner

My older iPhone 4 recently gave up the ghost and upon the precient advice of Adrian, an energetic and informed youngster named on the Apple dial-in Mobility Team, a Tech21 Impact Mesh 5s case was included in my iPhone recovery plan. Little did I know that within a month the new iPhone would confront certain death by mysteriously launching itself from my top pocket on a ballistic trajectory toward the hard ceramic tile on my office floor. What followed at the point of impact was amazing - "virtually nothing." As I watched wide eyed at impending doom there was simply a dull energy absorbing thump, with very little bounce or skittering, and no cracking, shattering, or screams of tortured passage. The terminal deceleration event was very much the equivalent of dropping a handful of Play-Doh on the same vertical track. I'm tempted to retest this baby with another drop test but think that Siri will strenuously object if I do not take a rain check.

    Eventually yours,

    ~Doc

I owned many cases but this one tops them all. Perfectly fits the phone and no dirt slips through. Nice low profile edges on the top and feels great in the hand. But it!

    Button Issues?

    • Written by from Pottstown

All the reviews of praise are correct so I am going to go right into the issue that some have had. There have been some questions about the buttons (sleep, volume) being hard to push. I noticed this issue as well with the sleep button. You need to remove the case and reinstall from the top being sure to align the sleep button with the cases sleep button. This case fits so well that when it is in alignment you will have no regrets. You wouldn't just put on a screen protector would you? It's not a Hard case so to say. Take the extra 15 seconds to align the case with the phone for proper fit.

    Great protection!

    • Written by from Las Vegas

I've had the case for over a year now with my iPhone 5. The only thing I could complain about is the clear parts of the case gets a slight yellow tint after some time. But that is to be expected. The protection for the phone is great! It's like the protection of an otter box without all the bulk. Pair this with a screen protector and you're golden!

I underestimated this case at first, but after now I can tell that this case is better than the Otter Box that I had.

    satisfied

    • Written by from two harbors

I have had this now for about 3 months on a 5 which has been dropped several times on various surfaces without damage to phone or case. But, I have never had a problem with damage to the phone with similar incidents with use of many other "middle of the line" cases either. Many of the prior cases did though sustain damage. My poor phone goes through a lot of abuse -frequents drops, stuffed into pockets, and dropped into mega purses with all sorts of hazardous objects. However with just this (and prior cases) and a glass screen protector it is still flawless. The case is attractive and provides fairly low profile protection and it does not tend to slip out of your hand like some of the hard surface cases. I agree with the concern about yellowing of the clear case but 3 months in and no problems so far either with yellowing or looking particularly "dirty" . And yes that flimsy looking bar at the bottom front of the case did look problematic but again it is tough and has not torn or deformed. Other reviewers have mentioned debris getting between the case and phone and causing problems with the finish on the back. The case fits snug but a small amount of ?dust? may get past the edges just like with most other cases other than the truly sealed/waterproof. Not any more or less than any other case I have ever used. If this is of concern apply a film on the back of the phone. Or, since the case is easily removed, just take off periodically and clean. Overall, it has turned out to be a better purchase than I thought it would be and that orange strip is so helpful for locating in the "black hole purse". Even if I do start to have some yellowing or changes in the clear plastic that are unsightly, the cost is reasonable enough to buy another while waiting for the 6 to arrive .

    CAN'T USE WITH SCREEN PROTECTOR.

    • Written by from Bloomfield

So I picked up this case off an exchange, and I absolutely loved it...

Until five minutes in when the right edge of my screen protector, and little bubbles on the top and bottom formed. My protector was installed PERFECTLY by an Apple rep, and worked fine with all other cases but the tech21.

I love this case, but sadly, am going to have to sell it online. It doesn't work with ANY screen protectors, know that before you buy it!

There're two versions of this case!

    • Written by from Volcano

After extensive research, I'd decided this was THE case for my iPhone. The product description at the online Apple Store did not specify whether there was one or three port openings. I want the latter, and had seen it in a few review videos. It fits the phone well, has a really nice feel, and gives me a sense of drop security. But the edge at the bottom is too flimsy. I'm sending it back and thankful for Apple's return policy. I wonder how long I should wait for the single-opening, older version to sell out before ordering again. It would be nice if there was an option to order with or with dock capability.

    Perfect

    • Written by from West Barnstable

I've owned many iPhone cases, most were decent but this is perfect.
This case makes me feel that my iPhone is very secure without a lot of bulk. There are times that I wanted to use my iPhone without a case but when using the Tech21 case I don't have that feeling, GREAT JOB TECH21!

    Very light and minimal!

    • Written by from Hamilton

I was looking for a very minimal looking case for my iPhone 5. The Tech21 Impact Mesh Case for iPhone 5 was my choice. Not only does it add protection in case of a fall, it doesn't add any bulk to the phone or look of the phone. You can grip the phone with ease. Never does it feel as if it's going to slip out of your hand. Why I feel this is a superior case over the Tech21 Impact Band Case ? Less bulkier, one piece fit with the mesh. The impact is a two piece application. Also the mesh backing is going to show less scuff marks then the impact band case backing which is clear. If showing off the back apple logo is important to you? Go with the impact band, if not. The mesh still shows a hint of the logo through the mesh backing depending on the color of your phone and case color you get.

So, if you want a minimal snug fitting, light feeling one piece case that's excellent to grip?
This is the case to get. Highly recommend it.

    Clear vs colored mesh cases

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Noticed in the store today that the clear version has a single large cutout on the bottom for headphone, lightning, and speaker openings. The colored versions have three separate cutouts. There are pros and cons with each, but concern about breaking the flimsy thin unsupported span of molded silicone along the front edge of the clear version seemed to outweigh the added port obstructions that the additional two spans of silicone cause on the colored versions. We opted for colored versions, as a result. Though aesthetically, the clear one was my wife's first choice.

Our first annoyance was the added structure prevents attaching the 30-pin-to-lightning adaptor. Oh well. No case is perfect, but we're overall very happy with the look, hand-feel, and protection these offer.

    Sleep button wore out

    • Written by from Porters Lake

Loved this case, still do...but after only 5 months, I have to press the sleep button 3 or 4 times to click the phone off :(. Works fine with the case off, I guess it has compressed too much, and now is not very effective. A lot of money for a case that wears out...

    Great case... But...

    • Written by from Miami

I love this case. It protects all the edges of the phone, which was one my concerns. Most of the cases I've seen didn't do much for the top/bottom ends which left the ends very vulnerable to scratches. I also love the material - it gives you a great grip. My ONLY complaint is how easily it starts turning blue! I'm guessing its from my jeans.

    Great Case Love It!

    • Written by from MINNEAPOLIS

I have had many cases including the Griffin Reveal, The adopted lens and others. This case is by far the best it feels good in hand and will protect my Iphone 5. I personally like the orange color. It feels it adds zero wait to the phone. The case makes the phone a bit wider but not much. As far as adding thickness to the phone it adds zero I feel. I highly recommend this case to anyone.

Keeps iPhone 5 slim but protected

    • Written by from El Segundo

Originally I didn't want to get a case for iPhone 5. But I dropped my iPhone 4 too many time to feel comfortable going naked. I love this case because its super protective where matters yet keeps the phone looking slim. It's also super light for an ultra protective case. Only complaint I have is the piece near the home button flexes a little.

    Great case, not too bulky.

    • Written by from Melrose

I looked all over for a case, ended up with the this one mainly for its drop protection. It fits very well. The only thing I'm slightly concerned about is the strip of material under the home button on the front. It's pretty flexible and time will tell to see how it holds up.

    Nice Case, Turns Yellow

I love this case! It manages to be slim and simple, but still very protective
I've had it for five months, and it hasn't yellowed very much at all. In fact, it is still in practically perfect condition in every way. Can't recommend it highly enough!

    Does the Job

    • Written by from Jacksonville

I have had this case on my phone for over a year now and this is the longest I've EVER kept an iPhone intact. I'm clumsy. I have 3 little ones who are always playing with (and dropping) my phone. I've dropped it on it's side, the corners, and face down on a hard surface countless times and everything's all good! My husband bought it for me because he knew my track record with phones and was tired of replacing them, but I'll admit I wasn't crazy about it as first. I thought my husband was over selling it's features and it wasn't exactly the fashion statement I would have chosen, but the proof is in the pudding and I wouldn't think of switching cases. So, if you've got butter fingers like me, or if you just like to be prepared for the worst like my hubby (he has one too), this is the case for you!
