    Magic Aquarium

    Gee whiz, but incredible.

The quality of the application and hardware is very high. The only "issue" we ever had was a loss of connection. The app told her to press the button -- she did -- and it was back in business. No brainer.

We use two bulbs over an aquarium and I have to say it is nothing short of magical. No heat, low energy and natural lighting for the fishies. When we're watching we can enhance the colors of the coral and plants, as well as two rather boring white Angel fish that are now chameleons.

If your rooms have white ceilings and light walls, you can create any atmosphere you want with no guessing. If your walls are painted colors, it takes more trial and error to get color/mood/experience you want.

    Watch out for this flaw

the bulbs that come with the starter kit will only sync the the brain they came with. don't plan on running them with another brain. you have to buy individual bulbs to add any pieces to a set. most of the software is a little funky .. but there a few that are cool and have a future as great apps. I'm working on a couple of very cool mods to trip on.

    d

te system does rock. don't listen bad reviews. work around the current flaws and get ready for the future of controlled environments.

So I purchased a starter package, an impulse by really while I was at the Apple Store. I do not regret my purchase and I plan to put these bulbs everywhere. They are are awesome. The fact that I can control my lights from anywhere and I can put them on timers is pretty great.

I don't usually write reviews on techie products, but rarely does a product come out that has such a WOW factor. We purchased these for the simple reason that we wanted to control our house lighting remotely, the color thing was interesting, but not a factor in our purchase.

WOW, this product has simply changed our house entirely. The hues are so interesting and warm, the atmosphere these lights create can simply not be duplicated by any other means that doesn't cost thousands of dollars in custom lighting.

The devices installed seamlessly, the applications are absolutely bug free and work intuitively. The ability to create scenes is nothing short of amazing.

From the packaging, to the install to the creating a hue account online, this is one class product. My only advice is to count up the number of bulbs in your house and bite the bullet and order then with your initial purchase. We had them installed about 10 minutes before we went online and purchased more.

    WOW

Fantastic app and hardware integration. It is really hard to do it all this well. I have a few niggles with the online site/community but a huge "well done!" to the developers - simply a job well done.

    One limitation

I just got and have working my Philips Hue. The only limitation is that this system will not work with lights on existing dimmer switches. Some of the rooms that I have in mind have dimmer switches, which now will require a change out from the dimmers, and if an electrician is required that adds substantially to your project. Once installed the Philips Hue allows you to dim lights until your heart's content. Sigh.

This product changes a room ambience per individual tastes and serves as a catalyst for home accessories via wifi. I always look forward to coming home with a changing array of colors splashed in the room (and also to the future with newer products to come).

The product setup is literally listed on the cover of the box.
    3 easy steps.
    1) Plug in the light bulbs
    2) Plug in the hue hub and connect it to your wifi router.
    3) Download the HUE app on your Iphone.

    It really was simple.

I'm currently using this product for games and have screenshots of each zone on my list. When entering a new zone, i'll switch my scene in the HUE app and voila. Total immersion in the red mountains or the blue hills. This product is excellent!

I just picked up the starter kit and this thing is awesome. It works great and love the flexibility of being able to use it with my iPhone, iPad and through the web. So cool. I particularly like the fact that you can make it closer to incandescent bulbs.

    Great work Philips!

Hue is amazing beats other home automation for lighting

    • Written by from Kirkland

Some say you cannot adjust individual lights (different themes) or set schedules on individual lights. This is incorrect. Just tap the theme, hit the pencil tip on the left. This lets you choose the individual bulbs and schedule for those.

Other systems allow you to turn on/off and dim but these let you choose the exact color. it is very nice to be able to tune the white with soft color to give the rooms a very comfortable feel when you are watching tv, etc... The bright white is excellent for reading when needed.

Just install the bulb, press find new bulbs. The bulb will flash so you know which one you are working with then you can give it a descriptive name. Now it is ready to use.

This is the best light bulb ever! When I saw the $200 price, I was a little bit shocked. When I bought it, I installed it very quickly! It took me longer to decide where I wanted my new light bulbs at than it did to set it up. Very easy to setup and use. I really like this bulb because you can change the color to whatever color you want it. It isn't just a soft white or daylight, it is millions of colors! Best product from Philips Lighting Co..

I bought these on Halloween and have been using them ever since. They work exactly as advertised and is probably the coolest gadget I own. It's the first thing I show anyone that comes to my house and they are always blown away.

I use them every morning to wake up. I have them fade onto red light over the course of nine minutes. The result is that I'm never startled awake by an alarm anymore.

The ONLY downside to these is that they're now on a 3-4 month back-order and I really would like some more for other rooms in my apartment.

I just love it, I had problems with the extra bulbs and had to reset them with the living colors remote but now is smooth sailing. I use everything, the colors, timers, scenes, make my own you name it. Like the ipad, I didn't know I couldn't live without it until I had it.

The Ultimate New Lifestyle Product That Enhances Your Home

    • Written by from Eden Prairie

It is hard to describe exactly what Hue does, because it has such a great and limitless impact on the comfort and joy of your surroundings at home. It enables you to customize and enhance your surroundings in a manner that seems a little odd for about an hour and, after that, as a completely natural feature that you wonder why it has not existed before.

I can't imagine (and haven't had the time to calculate) just how gargantuan the market will be for the game-changing product. It is everything it promises and more and I sure will even get better over time. If I had children at home, I would immediately replace all the bulbs in their rooms with Hue. I am sure they would help them go to sleep, wake up and study in a much more comfortable and natural manner. This is a truly compelling product. Thank you Phillips and Apple!

Fun and bright! ...despite its bugs.

The Hue and its network of bulbs is fun! The bulbs are also a LOT brighter than I thought they'd be. Who knew I'd spend more than 50 seconds a day thinking about how to turn my lights on? While it was easy to setup and to connect the various iOS devices to it, there are currently a couple of bugs with the software that will hopefully be fixed soon.

    1. The timer feature does not work for me. I bought this so certain lights in the house would turn on at scheduled times - but so far none of the commands/timers I've set have worked regardless of whether I'm in the room, or away from the house.

    2. There's currently no way to group light bulbs into separate rooms. You can control bulbs individually, but not group them; yet. I live in a house with other roommates and if more than one person wants control of this, it'd be nice if them changing their rooms wouldn't automatically change the mood of the entire house.

    3. There's no way to distinguish between ignore bulb, or turn bulb off. I currently have a number of sample settings that turn on all three bulbs. However, my one setting of changing my desk lamp to the reading color and turning the ceiling bulbs off doesn't work. I first have to turn all bulbs off, then turn on the desk setting. This may be a programming issue so my issue #2 above wouldn't get complaints of people turning lights off in other rooms all the time, but there should be an off command on top of an ignore command for more refined controls.

Overall I would recommend it. Smart bulbs is definitely the future. No longer would I have to choose between sunlight white or a comfortable reading temperature for the bulbs - one can do them all, at a fraction of the electricity cost!

    Meet the 21st Century Lightbulb

I have owned these bulbs for about 2 weeks, and I have to say that they are one of the coolest and most conventional purchases I have made in a long time! My only nit-picky thing is that I think they are marketing this product wrong. Phillips is putting a lot of emphasis on the color (which IS cool), but in reality, these are 21st century lightbulbs. Here's why:

    - LED Lightbulbs can last between 15-25 years! I won't have think about replacing one of these guys until 2027!

    - Consumes up to 80% less power than traditional lightbulbs.

    - Programmable luminosity, color, and on/off!

Really guys, they are exactly like your lightbulbs you have right now. Just not at all like the lightbulbs you have right now. :) Great buy! Love them!
