    Awesome!

The greatest thing to happen to the light bulb since Thomas Edison. Very easy to setup and use. I hope they last long.

    Excellent

Bought the starter kit for my son and his wife last week. They had the three bulbs up and running in less than 30 minutes and have been very enthusiastic about it since. They continue to find new ways to use the lighting and plan on adding more bulbs.

My very decor-conservative, non-technical wife now wants to replace all our lights with these, which is a little scary!

    Good Concept works well

    • Written by from toronto

Love the Hue, its cool and works well, creates good ambience and is an easy install, adding additional bulbs is even easier. Can set up timer to have bulbs come on/off automatically
cons : The iphone app isnt 2 good, not very user friendly and is good for basic stuff, the timer has to be reset everyday and cannot be set up to reccur. The website is also not very easy to use and any additions you make is suppose to sync with your iphone and ipad, but it dosent. The website interface is not easily expalined and the customer support line are not 2 good at responding to emails.
Overall product is good...they have to work on the user experience.

    Great product

Just moved and bought Hue to add a little fun to our new place and couldn't be happier with them. While I don't expect to change the colors that often, the variation of shades of white (warm to cool) is fantastic for different activities and times of the day. I particularly love how I can control them away from a computer or my iPhone too. I'll never wonder if I left a light on again and never walk into a dark house again.

Best 'Smart Home' Product Out There

    • Written by from Rohnert Park

We purchased the Philips Hue Starter Pack and fell in love! We connected them in our living room and found that these bulbs allow us to set the mood, dim the lights, turn off before bed, etc. all from our iPhone. A few months later I have them in almost every room of the house.

This technology has really allowed us to turn our home into a smart home! Albeit, they are a bit pricey, but you are paying for convenience and so much more. The Hue App has also come a long way and offers much more than it did upon initial release. We also love the additional apps that control our Hue bulbs, such as Goldee and IFTTT.

If you have $200, go grab a starter pack and play around. Well worth it!

    Dramatic

    • Written by from Sugar Land

Great starter pack. Easy setup. Easy to create new scenes. I go thru several scenes each evening. When I know I will get home in the dark, I turn on the bulbs remotely, wherever I am. The different colors glowing behind the blinds look dramatic when I arrive. I plan to buy more bulbs to use in the other rooms.

    Excellent Design!!!

I purchased the Disney Storytime Light and the Light Strip plus the Bulbs all together. Everything works as expected.

For some reason I mistakenly thought that the Bridge itself can use Wifi.. and it does have a wifi symbol on the unit, but there seems to be no configuration tool to attach it to Wifi... so I'm still using ethernet cable. I would rather have it use Wifi though.

Took me 10mins to setup all units. Excellent if you guys purchase the $3 app called Hue Disco if you want the Philips bulbs to help with coloring your home party.

Hue is a hit in my home!

Very easy to set up. Make sure to test which one is the 1,2,3 lightbulb so you don't set them up around your house and realize they are in the wrong order. The app takes a little bit of time to master but once you figure it out it makes perfect sense. I love that you can create or modify existing light recipes to better suit your preferences. Sure your friends and family will look at you funny when you tell them you just bought 3 lightbulbs for $200, until they see them in action. Having the perfect lighting for every moment is amazing and I can't wait to add more.

Cool, mostly well done, but expensive

    • Written by from Briarcliff Manor

I had this setup for a couple weeks before deciding to return them. Setup was pretty easy, everything worked as advertised. In general i just cant see spending the $$ on these for what they offer. I also would like some different size bulbs - i put these in my recessed lighting fixtures in the master bedroom and the leave too much space - they are smaller than a regular flood bulb that goes into a standard recessed lighting enclosure.

i may try these again if the price comes down, or they offer more options. but right now, in my opinion, not really worth the money they charge.

    Lot of Fun

    • Written by from Falmouth

I bought the starter pack and one bulb and it took me 2 mins to get the starter pack going and then I realised one bulb was changing. Another 5 mins and I had linked the fourth bulb.
I did have to turn on the fourth bulb in each scene and choose a point for it.

I am delighted with the system. The software will hopefully be improved. I want to put them in the bedroom also but I can't work out how room by room will be dealt with? The scenes will have to be doubled so that the others rooms settings are included?

I have 4 LEDs on my bridge and everything over the wifi but not yet managed to link my bridge to the online account?

That's where the missing star is.

This is a wonderful product that gives you a million different ways to light a room. I have presets to read with, watch movies with and even sleep in. The alarm feature provides a nice easy way light to way up to. Hoping for more app updates to improve and the app and add more features but the current app gets the job done well!! Totally worth it! Horrible

    • Written by from Chelsea

What am I missing? I'm a reasonably intelligent 65 year old who has been in the software
Business for 40+ years (granted in sales). This system begs for a graphical, dashboard
Interface. Never been so confused in my life. The most confusing interface concept I've seen.
I'd love to buy a dozen bulbs but would rather walk on broken glass than try to manage
This app. Hire 2 students ( a C+ grade average will do) from a reasonable college IT program
And you will have a winner

    This product rocks!

    • Written by from Cypress

LED technology has changed our world and in the top inventions ever! The Philips Hue is no exception. The ap is a little quirky; to be expected for early adopters. On the plus side of the negative reviews, Starter Packs and Single Bulbs are easy to find at the Apple Stores.

Already, there are two other IOS aps; Hue Disco and MagicHue, both ready for prime time. As others begin to see the incredible flexibility of this product, other aps will soon appear. For those instant gratification persons, keep taking your Hues back. Makes it easier to find!

    GREAT PRODUCT!!!

    • Written by from San Antonio

Set up was incredibly easy. The scene setup took a few minutes to figure out. But after that it was a breeze. I have not used the app away from home much, but I have tested it and it does work. Really like the scenes, being able to change all or some of the light colours and intensities with one touch is nice.

Good, but needed a new wi-fi router!!

    • Written by from Philadelphia

Got to start by saying you need a wi-fi router with an EXTRA ethernet/lan port. I have been using the plug in the wall Airport Express for the past 2 years and figured I was all set to use this product out of the box. Yes, the requirements do state a wi-fi router, but it makes no mention to needed a free/empty port. Seen as my router was Apple, i thought i was in good hands. More fool me... Im now down over $300 before even getting the lights to work.

Lights do work well and are fun, but they are a little less impactful as they are in the video (the magic of editing i guess). Agree with the call outs that there needs to be a basic color wheel option in the app and the timer interface needs a major overhaul, but i found it pretty easy to use. So far, we are on a rotation of only 3 or 4 'hues' but look forward to experimenting more when we have people over and are entertaining vs sitting on the couch watching TV.

All in all, cool product, but still bummed i had to spend another $100 to replace what was a perfectly good wi-fi router without any mention of needing a new one.

Sing the colors of the rainbow

    • Written by from Windsor

I just bought the starter kit today and had no problems getting the lights to connect and work. But I will be returning the kit tomorrow when the store opens because the lights sing or hum or buzz loudly when at full brightness. They especially sing loudly when they are a bright white but still buzz when displaying colors. I really liked the idea and want to keep them but I don't care if they are free, I can't stand the buzzing.
Maybe in the future I will try them again but not now. One other problem I have is I don't like always having to use my phone or tablet to turn on & dim my lights. For the most part I would like to just flip the wall switch and used the dimmer on the wall switch. But the lights do not respond to the dimmer but they do turn off and on with the switch. I did like the Syfy synced lights and programming. Oh well. I just saved $200

Save your money. Great idea but bad product with bad support

    • Written by from Phoenix

I bought 29 of these after I was impressed with the starter kit. Then, I randomly lose a connection to a bulb, which is a huge hassle to resurrect. Resurrection is only sometimes successful after hours of effort. I'm a tech enthusiast and an Electrical Engineer with all the latest gizmos and gadgets, so I love experimenting with technology. Until I've decided that it is a fail. And THIS is a fail. Tech and product support with Philips is virtually nonexistent. I feel foolish for having spent so much money on this stuff - but I'm like a kid in a candy store with no spending limit.....I should have listened to my very level headed wife and not bothered with the Philips products.

They are all going into the recycle bin and I'm going to just stick with simple manual light switches from now on. I'm lucky I can affford to throw out $1500 worth of Philips Hue lights without any stress! Lesson learned! My advice: don't bother and save your money.
