    Great System- Instructions Need Improvement

    • Written by from Leesburg

The unit is very nicely engineered. It works as advertised with great sound and a well-thought out controls layout. I would have rated this a five, but I really had to struggle with the instructions. My sole purpose in buying this device was to use it in the Airplay mode (WiFi) from my MacBook Pro and iPhone 3G (Hey, it works great for what I need it for). Neither iHome nor Apple were very helpful in solving my set up problem. Neither one of them had any information telling you that the newer version of iTunes does NOT have a "remote speakers" option on the "Devices" tab in the "Preferences" menu. Instead, the iW4 shows up on the Airplay icon next to the volume control in the upper left corner of the main iTunes window. Just click the icon and there it is (if you have made sure both the iW4 and Mac are on the same base station. Use Airport Utility to confirm this). The instructions for the phone were for an iPod, not an iPhone. Make sure the phone is connected to the same WiFi as the iW4, then open the Music app. Click the Airplay icon next to the volume control at the bottom of the screen, same as for iTunes.
