    Poor product

    • Written by from Binghamton

I registered for this and am totally disappointed. It takes so long for it to refresh to the actual video picture. By the time it shows you your baby or the image, its worthless. It takes so long. I wish I had the box to return it.

    Trash

Worthless as a full-time baby monitor. Parents need a monitor that will work 24/7 (or at least through the night) without interruption. This product does not do that. I've had similarly poor experiences with other Philips peripheral devices. They are misleading, low tech quality, buggy, and I'll never buy another Philips product. Don't waste your money!

    Philips insight cure!!!!!

    • Written by from didcot

What can I say, a brilliant bit of kit when works. BUT mine kept going offline. No good when away. The cure is to reboot by unplugging power lead. But again no good if away.

So in the same shop you can buy the WE MO remote switching socket or on Ebay. This does work 100%. I also use to light the camera area at night.
So now I can review a dead camera turn off and on from anywhere in the world and see my house.

It has taken months to discover this. There should be software for this to stop the bad name this product is getting under the Apple name whose shop sells them.

    Buyer beware

    • Written by from West Chicago

The app for this product is simply defective and that makes the product useless. This product should not be sold as a baby monitor. We tested it over a period of days and were never comfortable actually using it. Very significant delays and the Phillips helpline was less than helpful. We have the optimal WiFi router for the system and it still failed. It won't be long before this product is pulled off of the market.. I warned Phillips and hopefully others with similar experiences will do the same. I had to go out and buy a new video monitor which works as advertised. Again, do not waste your money on this product.

    Cannot pan camera

    • Written by from boston

I like this camera for many reasons, but ultimately would not recommend it.

The pros: It is so easy to set up, it is inexpensive, the sound is incredible, the picture is great, and night vision is great.

The cons: you cannot pan the camera around the room. If you want a different view of the room, then you have to physically move the camera, which I find frustrating because it would be nice to change the view remotely from your phone or ipad. I also occassionally have trouble with the app, which I think is common amoung this type of camera.

    Not ready for Prime Time

    • Written by from Sacramento

This product has such potential, but it misses the mark. The video that is recorded and sent to the dropbox only includes about 4 or 5 seconds of useful information. There is apparently a buffer in the camera, so when motion/sound is detected, it backs up and starts the recording about 8 to 10 seconds before whatever has triggered it, then it only records about 4 or 5 seconds more and stops. So when you review the recordings, you get 10 seconds of nothing and 4 or 5 seconds of the motion/sound that triggered the recording. It should be just the opposite ... 3 or 4 seconds leading up to the action, then 15 to 20 seconds of activity. The camera is temperamental about setup, I've done 4 of them and sometimes they set right up, other times it takes an hour or more of "futzing" to get it to work. I gave it 3 stars for the live viewing, which is very good, but deducted two because the Dropbox recordings and setup need work.

    Not worth the frustration

    • Written by from Newport News

I've had this monitor over a year and a half now and I continually need to unplug the monitor and plug it back in to reset the blinking light. This is the most frustrating when my daughter is crying at night and when I go to see her in her room, the monitor is not working properly. The talk back feature is a little frustrating as well since you can't hear while you are talking thru the monitor. There is also a little delay when you release your finger from talking. It's a great concept, but there are more bugs to work out still!

For those who do not know - Wifi

    • Written by from Klang

This product is easily set up, as mention from other user, if you do not have high speed wifi broadband connection it will not work as good as it said.

This gadget is not for 24/7 securities guard sitting down & monitor d situation, it is for d user to peak into d area where you wanted to monitor d situation on & off for a spot, playroom, main door, kitchen, etc. through your iPhone or iPad once in a while when you are away or busying on d other corner of d house.

For baby monitor, d alert system is good, it will send alert message to your phone immediate detection, for me 3 second delay is not an issue.

For those who had failed to used this product, I think you will not going to like any other gadget which is need to hook up wifi connection, because your wifi is slow, understand what is consider high speed broadband, maybe you guys do not know, not all wifi can work!

    Better Experience Than Others

    • Written by from Chula Vista

To be fair my wife and I have only been using this monitor for a day now however I felt compelled to write a review after reading all the negative reviews from others.

First off, if you have slow internet service or poor wifi connectivity throughout your home then any wifi based monitor will have poor performance for you. In that case I would suggest you stay away from wifi-based monitoring systems and stick with old school walkie-talkie style monitors.

With that being said, the total set up time was less than 5 minutes and the instructions were easy to follow. The HD video was surprisingly clear, both my wife and I were impressed with the clarity and we are both pretty techy individuals. The first thing we tested was the video/sound delay that others have complained about. In our tests we have found there to be a 4-5 second video/sound delay which is completely reasonable for use as a baby monitor. The night vision works as expected and actually provided a decent night image.

The major gripe as other have mentioned was the need for a paid subscription to watch live streaming video over 3G. In all honesty I don't think $25 for a year subscription is over-priced however I think Philips would have made a few more friends had they removed the need for paid services. To be fair however, I can't really envision a scenario where I will be away from home with the need to watch my baby over remote surveillance.

During the course of writing this review I was able to see my toddler (who is just starting to learn to sleep by herself) wake up in the middle of the night and sit up in bed. Because the noise from the audio alerted me I was able to get to her room right before she started to cry and wake up everyone else in the house, and that to me.. made this monitor worth every penny.

    Happy with reservations

    • Written by from PHOENIX

We bought this to be able to keep eyes and ears on our baby whose room is all the way across the house from ours. We read the negative reviews but figured we'd give it a try.

Setup was easy and took about five minutes and I'm happy with the camera and sound quality. We experience about a one to two second delay which I expected.

The apps need some help. The notifications are buggy and, as many mentioned, often very delayed. This hasn't yet been a huge issue for us because we usually don't rely on them, but that definitely should be fixed, especially in light of the other issues. On the iPhone I love the feature of continuous play so that when my screen times out and locks I still have ears on the nursery. However, it's totally annoying that if I get a call, text message or other notification, I have to go back into the app and reset it to continue hearing. That's not exactly safe for middle of the night emergencies.

The iPad app has the same issues with the added frustration that there isn't a continuous play option. This feature needs to be added to the iPad app so parents like me can let their phones get calls and notifications and use the iPad as the monitor.

Phillips needs to spend some time fixing these issues and then they'd have a great product. Hope they read these reviews.

    Not Good

    • Written by from Berlin

We realized this product wasn't going to work as a baby monitor when my wife and I began having a conversation by the monitor. A minute after our conversation started we heard it over our monitor. It's hard to tell if there's a delay because you're not in the room normally when you're watching. Maybe a 3 second delay we could deal with, but a minute is WAY too long for a baby monitor.

Also, if you have too many devices connected to the wireless router your connection to the monitor will be terminated.

This is a flawed design and I'm not happy at all with it.

It should be criminal to sell this product as a baby monitor. The title should read: Philips in.sight Wireless aggravation that wont work for more than an hour and keep you up all night

Don't trust it. It is delayed and the video cuts off after and hour and then the sound follows it, we have to go to store and find a new one just to feel peaceful at night! Glad this was a gift and I didn't spend money on it, still a huge disappointment.

    Not good for baby monitor!

    • Written by from Calgary

We purchased this as a baby monitor 3 days ago. It was easy to set up but I noticed right away that there was a significant lag between what was actually happening and what appeared on the screen. Usually about 30 seconds. My biggest complaint was the time it took to open the app. It would take almost 3 minutes to load the camera each time I opened the app on my iPhone. And many times, the app just quit. I am packing it up to return it as I type. Piece of junk.

    Great baby monitor!

    • Written by from Roswell

This monitor was so simple to set up! I love the fact that I can check on my baby at any time and anywhere just by looking at an App on my IPhone. It has a lot of cool features: night vision so you can see your baby in the wee hours, the temperature in her room so I know if it's too warm or cold, the ability to talk to her through the phone (very cool), etc. The monitor is small so it doesn't take up much room. All in all, this is a great product and I would highly recommend it!

DO NOT USE THIS AS A BABY MONITOR!

    • Written by from Calgary

Read these reviews and the app reviews. This thing is a joke as a baby monitor. I'm sitting here at 4 AM awake and frustrated because the app won't stream video any longer. This monitor was my back up plan and the video I have been using to see my child while traveling. Our main monitor failed earlier this week and while waiting for a warranty replacement, I've tried using this. Absolute junk, the software to support this hardware. Again, read the comments on here. Even with that limited purpose, if two devices have the app open in iOS (not even active) and they have not completely killed the app in their "active apps", a third device can't get in. Seriously, the product (the camera) is OK (quality video and audio) but the whole app (and the website for computers) is terrible. Apple, you need to quit selling this product. This does not work anything close to 'as advertised'.

Again, Do Not Plan To Use This As A Baby Monitor, I implore you. You will be frustrated, disappointed and, quite likely, very angry. I know I am.

    Horrible product!

    • Written by from Naugatuck

My husband and I were thrilled to purchase this monitor. Unfortunately, this product did not meet our expectations.
We were hoping to view our baby live especially for use at night.
Well, so much for the live viewing! This camera works great if you want a still image of your baby and nothing but a dark viewing! It's extremely glitchy as well!
I would not recommend this monitor at all, a back up monitor is definitely a must! It's a good thing we always have our regular audio monitor on!
