    Can not use under 6.1.2???

    When I try to link it to the device, it disconnects in a few secs!
    I tried 3 iphone 5 and 1 ipad 4, this problem still goes on!!!

    No connection

    It connected at first, but when I turned off my bluetooth on my iPhone to conserve power, the device refused any connection afterwards. After several attempts to reset the device and establish connection. It refused any connection afterwards. This toy is nothing more than a waste of money. Do not buy this item.

    Too many false alarms

    Have had Hipkey for three weeks. When I have both it and my iphone in a pocket it will start beeping randomly. You will get a lot of stares from people wondering what the heck is that.
    Please do a firmware update to stop these false alarms. Happens at least once a day.
    Otherwise it is a very good idea.

    I purchased this device in the hopes that it would do what it said it would do. Sadly, there are so many false alarms I have been forced to just shut it off. A complete waste of money until they solve their issues.

    False alarms

    I purchased this product a week ago and have been using it for a few days. As other reviewers have stated, there is a problem with this device in that it keeps giving false alarms. This renders the device useless as the whole point is for the alarm to warn you about proximity. I have emailed the company about this and await a response. Expensive for a piece of plastic otherwise! Will be requesting a refund if there is no alternative.

    Huge Dissapointment

    I've needed a poduct like this and was excited to get it. What a disapointment. The alarm goes off constantly, even when I'm in a safe zone, with maximum distance, and the phone and Hipkey are sitting right next to each other. Also does not work while on the phone, the alarm goes off the whole time while talking on the phone, apparently the bluetooth connection does not stay active during calls?

    Haven't even had this for 5 min and already hearing false alarms. Came here to see if anyone else is having problems and looks like its quite common. I guess 1 star is acceptable bc I will never forget my phone bc the alarm is constantly going off.

    needs more work

    This product feels very "beta". For example the hipkey goes off once in a while even if I carry the sensor and the device (iPhone 5) with me. Also, the safe zone doesn't seem to work. I get alarms all the time if I am too far from my phone at home (and even without safe zone, it shouldn't go off). Many of the (few) features don't work reliably. For example, adjusting the volume doesn't work. The vibrate feature doesn't work most of the time either.

    Need to experiment with some of the cheaper alternative (e.g. Kensington) to see if they work better.

    Bad Batch of Devices?

    I have to agree with the other reviewers. I was very excited and one of the first to order in the US. The device constantly false alarms when its within feet of the iphone. This had such rave reviews im wondering if there are a bad batch of hipkeys out there. I am sending mine back today.

    Great product but does not to one's satisfaction

    I was one of the first person to buy the Hipkey from Apple store. May be on the 3rd day of the product launch. I was very excited to use it, but I was greatly disappointed.

    Im using iphone 5 with iOS 6.0.2 with all the latest updates as on today. Batteries are fully charged on both.

    If you set the alarm distance short, which is most desirable in case if you are doing a public transport travel, ( in case if you forget your phone in a taxi or flight or train ) then the connection keeps on breaking every few seconds or minutes even if the Hipkey is 1 feet away from your iphone 5. ( this happens specially when your phone is busy doing something else, like a email download or iMessage or any other data coming in. ( the blue tooth symbol on phone will keep on blinking / rather fluttering ) and you will get like 20 notifications even if your phone is 1 feet away.

    If you keep the alarm distance medium, this problem is greatly reduce, and if you set the alarm distance to long this problem is almost gone. but in this case you will come to know rather too late if you forget your phone any public transport. So I have rather no choice except to keep the alarm distance at long range.

    The alarm volume is 90db at the absolute source. (point blank range) if you go even two feet away the volume drops to about 65db and it is rather difficult to hear it in crowded busy street of any big city or in a train or at airport. It is best you keep the hipkey in your pocket and keep the vibrator on, there are higher chances you will come to know with vibration on.

    the lanyard supplied with the hipkey is very ordinary and not worth even 0.50 cents. its likes a rubber band. I would recommend buy a stronger lanyard or key ring from travel shop. or you loose the hipkey in the before you get your credit card invoice.

    Good points :

    The battery has a super great life.

    Loved the packaging and the product finish and its user friendliness. Even without going through the manual I could operate the all the functions of the unit.

    also loved the shape of and design of the product, it really looks cool, very futuristic, really nice finish and nice material used to make it.

    I also liked he security tape used to close the box, so if the box is opened even once you will know. its good for buyer as well as seller both.

    Upon contacting the company, the company mentioned that they have new firmware which fixes most of the problem, but it is not possible for user to change the firmware. so the company suggested to send the unit back at my expense to them and they send a new one at their expense.

    the company was very supportive and helpful in resolving the issue.

    Looks Great, But Does Not Work. Horribly Disappointed.

    I was very excited to get hipKey and was one if the first people in the U.S. to order and get hipKey. Unfortunately, the product is entirely unusable and is being retuned immediately.

    Specifically, after first causing my iPhone 5 to reboot (ok, one malfunction is not a deal-breaker), hipKey then keeps sounding the alarm, even though it and my iPhone are in the same room or are just one room apart! And, yes, this keeps happening -- and I and my family keep getting woken up during the course of the night -- even with our having (A) changed the hipKey alarm setting to wide range and (B) set up a hipKey "Safe Zone" around our home.

    So, our excited expectation for hipKey is now complete disappointment and the product is being returned immediately. :(
