Works as described but many false alarms

Just received today, and most everything works as described except I am experiencing many false alarms and only when the hipkey and the iphone are in my pocket (hipkey in my front pant pocket and iphone in the back, to be more precise.) As I am walking or even driving in my vehicle, the alarm mode (both phone and hipkey) sounds and silences on its own. Seems something is causing interference or a lost BT signal. So far, I'm not thrilled.

    Lots of false alarms

There's so much about this product to love. The concept. The product design. The great features. The solid construction.

Unfortunately, I think there's some issues that hopefully can be fixed with future software or firmware updates. Basically, I get lots of false alarms and randoms beeps and alerts.

I even set up a "safe zone" for my entire apartment and a little beyond, but I still got beeps and alerts when I went to the bathroom. I guess the bluetooth couldn't go through the 2-3 walls between my kitchen and bathroom, so it alerted me.

Recently I was sitting in a waiting room before an appointment and it went off twice. One time my iPhone was in my left pocket and my hipKey in the right. The second time my iPhone was in my hand literally a couple inches from my hipKey. I was playing a game, so maybe it interrupted the bluetooth or hipKey app. The hipKey was set to vibrate only, but still beeped, which was a bit embarrassing in a quiet room.

I'm still love the idea of the product and bet that it will be improved with software updates. If you don't mind being an early adopter and dealing with false alarms along the way, I'd get it now.

    Disappointing

Well, after using ... or should I say trying to use - Hipkey for 2 days, this is what I can report.

I bought it for my wife who constantly forgets her keys or iPhone. Before handing it over, I decided to test it out myself to be able to better explain it to her.

I therefore installed it on my iPhone 5 first. At first it went like a breeze to install. However turning Hipkey on and off was confusing - blinking red or green - I had no idea what it meant and the manual is a 'bare minimum' not going into details.

I then downloaded the app. Creds for the nice UI. Also, pairing happened quickly.

Then the beeping starts. For some reason it beeps unexpectedly even if you don't want it to. I try to turn the thing off but instead it beeps continously. Finally it is off and shuts up. Try again and somehow I am able to start testing the Motion mode. Problem now is, it beeps when the Hipkey is absolutely still. I shut it up by clicking the alarm bell on the app , then try to get it to start if I move the Hipkey or shake it. Nothing happens for some seconds, and then it goes off. Ok. So it needs a few seconds ... I can live with that.

Now for the finale - pairing it with my wife 's 4S . No such luck. I spent 2 hours with turning it off and on , annoying my wife with the beeping till breaking point "... I am never going to use that thing..." Sigh.

I gave up. It doesn't want to pair with my wifes phone even though I unpaired with mine, switched it off and on, set it for pairing by pressing the big button like shown on YouTube ... Instead it shows Connected in green, then back to Connecting in yellow, alternating every 5 seconds.

If these things are not fixed, it is money wasted.

Good product in theory. But like many of the reviews said too many false alarms. Also this thing stopped charging completely after three weeks of use. Returned it. In theory great idea, but needs some fine tuning not sure if its software/hardware related.

Hipkey kills battery life of iPhone 4s

Just received and setup my Hipkey! It took under two minutes to figure out and pair-very easy. Unfortunatley, I am returning this product to Apple due to battery life issues. The battery on the Hipkey is tremendous, but with bluetooth constantly connectd, my iPhone 4s battery life is completely wiped out in 10 hours without even using my phone. If I play music, text, check email or use the phone even minimally, forget about it. Your phone will be dead in under 5 hours.

False alarms are another problem that have been an issue.

Great idea, but not quite there yet.
