One review has mentioned false alarms. I don't get any false alarms on my hipkey. The connection is very reliable once established and the reach is quite good. Outdoor I get 450 feet between my iPhone and hipkey when they are in line of sight. Indoor the range is less but still acceptable. It depends on the rooms, doors, construction materials etc.

The trick not to get unwanted alarms is to use the excellent safezone feature. I have set up safezone's in my home, office, parents place and a few other places. My iPhone registers every time I enter and exit a safezone. hipkey does not alarm when being inside a safezone. Its a great feature.

I noticed that hipkey sometimes makes 2-3 beeps when I pick it up inside a safezoe. First I thought this was an alarm. I contacted the vendor and they told me it is not an alarm but a "safezone notification". Here is how it works:

When hipkey has entered a safezone it will not sound the normal distance alarms. If hipkey looses its connection to its iPhone it will start monitoring if it is moved (it uses the build in movement sensor). When moved hipkey will make 3 notification beeps to inform me that it is not connected to my iPhone. The vendor told me this feature is meant to warn you, that you are about to leave your safezone without your iPhone. Very handy feature to prevent you from leaving behind your iPhone when you go to work in the morning.

I have come to like the feature very much but also recommended to the vendor that they make this feature optional in the hipkey App. Not all might like this feature. They promised to look into it.

I have gone through 2 of these -- great in theory but there are too many false alarms to make this useful. I have the Keningston ones too and although they do not have the safe zones I did not get one false alarm

The team behind hipkey has done an excellent job in making a tech gadget a non complicated beneficial consumer device. Who hasn't had trouble finding their phone now or then or who hasn't left for work realizing 5 miles down the road that the phone is still at home. hipKey has made a very convincing solution to overcome these problems.

Hipkey is very reliable and looks and feels great. And cheap too for what it does.

I am so happy for my hipkey. When driving in a cab I didn't notice that my iPhone had slipped out of the back pocket of my trousers and was lying on the back seat. After paying I left the cab and started walking away. Within seconds I was warned by the loud hipkey alarm and I ran back to the cab and found my iPhone again. I praise my hipkey for rescuing my iPhone this time.

Generally I find hipkey very robust and reliable. Connects quickly and stays connected when in reach. The range is quite good and the safe zone feature is excellent.

The motion alarm is handy as well. I use it to protect my computer bag when going on business trips.

A great gadget with many useful features. It's my everyday companion - and never again a forgotten iPhone;)

It connected at first, but when I turned off my bluetooth on my iPhone to conserve power, the device refused any connection afterwards. After several attempts to reset the device and establish connection. It refused any connection afterwards. This toy is nothing more than a waste of money. Do not buy this item.

Have had Hipkey for three weeks. When I have both it and my iphone in a pocket it will start beeping randomly. You will get a lot of stares from people wondering what the heck is that.
Please do a firmware update to stop these false alarms. Happens at least once a day.
Otherwise it is a very good idea.

This is the best money spend ever. hipkey helps me find my phone and key's at any time. Motion mode I use for looking after my camera accessories while shooting for customers.

I keep hipkey in my keyring with other keys. So far no major no scratches etc. on hipKey. It looks nice, feels robust and material selection is very good.

I've used the hipKey for 3 weeks and it's worked well. I've been using it just in its Alarm mode to prevent me from leaving either my keys or my iPhone 5 behind. On a few occasions I used the app to help find my keys. (Push a button on the app and the hipKey sounds a gentle alarm.). I initially had a problem with it going off a couple of times unexpectedly, with the phone and device side by side. I changed my case from a metal wrap around (Element) case to a plastic case and it then worked perfectly. Wonder what that case does to my cellular signal?) I've dropped my keys with the hipKey attached, and even in a puddle once, and it continues to work fine. On one occasion I walked away from a table in a restaurant with the phone on the table and my keys in my pocket, and the hipKey alarm went off, reminding me I left the phone behind. I'm finding this to be an excellent product, ruggedly built, that works as promised.
