    Just what I needed

    • Written by from Herminie

I'm not your typical smartphone user walking around with my face buried in my phone. In fact on a day to day basis I may only get up to 2 hours of usage on it. There are times however in my travels where I have used my phone allot, taking my battery into the red zone. Ever been in an Airport, the land of no outlets....... Or in a state/federal park, again, no outlets......
Several times I ran across the situation where I needed to power up and didn't have access to a place to charge or didn't have the time to sit around and wait for my phone to charge. That's where this came in handy. I was able to get up and running in no time at all. This powered up my phone as I was in travel on several occasions, and I was free to move around to different areas without leaving my phone behind and I didn't have to wait around for my phone to charge because it was plugged into a stationary output. Perfect for my needs.
It is very small and ultralight, weighing in at less than 3 ounces. It has 4 LED lights to let you know the status of your charger. You can charge the Powerstation Mini from the USB port on your computer, which I don't do because it takes too long. Or you can charge it from a wall socket. I use the plug from my iPhone charging cable, I have the 5C. I charges pretty quickly from a wall socket. Then I throw it in my day pack and off I go.
It does work on a 5C. I can't attest to how much charge you'd get from 0 on your phone, I never let it get that low unless I'm home. On the road when I hit the 20% mark is when I charge up and it has taken me up to 100% every time. You see, I didn't get this to get me charged, I got it to keep me charged, and this works well in doing just that.
The bottom line is that if I leave home with a fully charged phone and Powerstation MIni, I can run for 2 days without a stationary power outlet using the phone the way I do. But I only got it for travel. On a normal day I just charge at home. And sure I could have gotten a larger one that can charge from 0 to 100 more than once, but I happen to like to compactness and ultralightweight of this unit. I never leave home without it.

    Great for Long Travel

I bought this a while ago when I was doing a lot of flying back and forth to Hawaii. I used it for both my 1st gen iPad and iPhone 4 since I didn't have easy access to a charging station on the flights. It takes a little while to fully charge this thing, I'd recommend charging it at night like you do your phone but for the amount of power it holds I'm happy with it. It's been able to revive both of my devices on the 13 hour flights. Also has worked for a couple of my friends' phones which are not iPhones but have a micro USB port.
