When I saw this product in the Apple store today I couldn't resist, I needed it... And for the price it seemed like a good investment. So soon after I purchase of this stand I came to realize like right when I opened the box there was scratches all over the stand. When I put my Macbook pro 17" on the stand it wobbled, like a lot. So I took a closer look at the stand and the black ridges on the bottom were uneven causing it to wobble... Terrible product.

This stand works exactly as it says it does. I'm not sure what the deal is with a couple of other reviews -- it kind of sounds like they were maybe using the product upside down (?), but it's physically impossible for me to get my MacBook Air to slide, at all, using this stand. It stays put. I don't type on it -- you're not supposed to, according to the product info -- I use it when I come home from the road and want to keep using my MBA with a wireless keyboard and mouse. But my neck isn't bothering me anymore when I spend hours at my MBA, and that's saying a lot. I like that it's adjustable so my husband can fix it to his right height, too (though I'm not so great at sharing my MBA). :>) Totally worth it. Best stand I've seen, happy I bought it!

Great Product, everyone that says that it does not stick and that the macbook slides off is using the product upside down! The V shape part of the product is where the macbook sits on, and the base that sits on the desk is the rectangular part. Please consult the pictures on the box before using and criticizing.

Personally, I love the product, it may not have the ability to change the tilt, but the height adjustments are great, the product is built strong and sturdy, and I love the design ascetics of the product!

I've been using the mStand for a little over a year now, but when Twelve South came out with their new HiRise for MacBook stand I figured I would give it a try. I'm not going to compare unboxing because functionality it what ultimately matters.

I dock/undock my Early 2011 MacBook Pro roughly 5-10 times a week. What is most important to me is that it is a seamless transition. Have laptop, put on stand, and connect cables. The mStand excels at this with its "feet" to catch the laptop and make perfect positioning an ease with each use. The HiRise however, does not have such a feature and this can become a tedious task to get the same position as you had once before. Placing your $3k MacBook Pro on a stand shouldn't be a guessing game, and you definitely shouldn't be worried that it might fall off given the incorrect position.

Stand placement is another big issue for me and honestly, I didn't realize it was until I got the HiRise. The stand shouldn't move once placed in the proper position on my desk. The mStand doesn't move. The HiRise does, and abhorrently so.

Lastly, elevation is also critical. While the HiRise will get the top of your MacBook Pro screen to roughly 15 1/2", the mStand will give you a full inch more. There is also more downward angle on the body of the Macbook Pro with the mStand. The is bound to be more beneficial to heat dissipation. I have also found it makes it easier to use the keyboard in those instances I forget to turn Bluetooth back on before docking my MacBook Pro.

P.S. With the HiRise height set to the lowest point, the back(where the back of your laptop would sit) is at 3 5/8" and the front is at 2 1/8".

I am happy with all my other Twelve South products (two Book Arcs, two HiRises for iMac, a BookBook for Air, and a SurfacePad for Air) but not with this one. I ordered two of these and received the first today. When I first set it on my desk, I noticed that the base was uneven --- one of the teflon rails was misaligned and thus was not seated properly in its channel. After trimming about .5 centimeters off of the rail, the base was still wobbly, as the rails were not level around the entire perimeter of the base. I taped a plastic gift card under one edge of the base, and it is now stable. Next, I set my 13" MB Air on the stand and discovered a second source of wobble --- the stem is not attached snuggly to the base. Even if the second stand arrives with properly seated rails, I imagine that it will still have a wobbly stem, and I cannot think of a fix for this problem. One other issue is that the stand adds only 5.625 inches at the tallest setting. So, to summarize, the stand looks nice but wobbles and is .375 inches shorter than advertised. I paid a premium for this stand based on my previous experiences with Twelve South products, and I am very disappointed in its quality. Indeed, I would be disappointed with this stand even if I had paid only $35 for it.
