    Not worth the money

I recently bought 3 of these speakers.... It is hard to connect all three together and it only allows you to play music from your itunes library on all three. When watching Videos while connected to the speaker their is always a 4 second delay..

Stunning Piece of Art, Impeccable Sound Clarity & Ease of Use

    • Written by from London

While I had almost made up my mind to invest in the latest Marantz & PMC Twentys', I thought, why not give this product a try once and went for the in-store experience. After a brief introduction to the product (well the best thing is there is nothing to explain about this product, except for how intricately the speaker mesh is designed, the kind of wood used to craft the tripod, avant-garde speaker placement et al) I was handed the IPAD by the gentleman (must admit the customer centricity of the sales man and professionalism was so well blended with the aura of the B&O brand) and asked to simply play the music. Now here is the magical bit, the bass is so enriching and speckless that it fills the room perfectly. The midranges are tuned to perfection and there is more treble to fill the ocean if you ever wished. All-in-all sounds magical. Being hooked to some of the finest audio consoles over the years, this product just proved that it can all happen with just one module beautifully parked around the corner in your living room. The wireless concept makes it even better - no more 10% investments on speaker cables and a bulk of coils behind your audio rack. Eventually, I brought the limited edition black piece and have been obsessed ever since.

Important : For those of you who have been facing issues with Airplay connectivity. I have probed quite deep in to this to only find out that there is nothing wrong with the product nor the internet speed / connectivity. It is to do with your WIFI ROUTER. Esp if it's one of those free white or black boxes provided by Sky (in the UK)/ of that matter any service provider. If it is free / cheap it is for a reason. The issue is - it just cannot create enough signal (WAN) to accommodate many devices in a home network. If you are using a Mac Book (any model) it just consumes all the signal strength you have in your WAN leaving little room for other devices to use WAN bandwidth for data share making the situation much worse.

Solution: Simply buy a 50-60 quid (decent model) Linksys / Cisco router and route your Wifi through that and everything gets utterly buttery smooth..

    Strongly recommend this product.

    Elegant design, outstanding performance

    • Written by from San Francisco

Utterly unique in the marketplace, the A9 produces amazing sound from such a tiny footprint -- and makes a design statement while doing it. We've had ours for almost a year, using it for music and television audio in our living room, and we are hooked. Superb audio response, terrifically full sound, and simply gorgeous.

Very good Airplay performance and reliability using our Airport Extreme (watch out for microwave ovens between your speaker and access point, though, since it's 2.4GHz-only). Highly recommended.

Wireless connection is glitchy during peak hours

    • Written by from Vancouver

This speaker looks and sounds amazing, and I would have one in every room if I could. However, the wireless connection is poor during peak hours. Sound cuts in and out, sounds like static disruption, took me a long time to figure out why. This happens everyday around 8-10pm, which leads me to believe it has something to do with high usage of internet in the building, and the wireless hardware for the A9 is poorly made. Every other device works fine at the same time, I've never had this problem with anything else. This is hugely annoying because that's potentially when I would have people over. You can plug your device into the speaker from the back, but that defeats the purpose of Airplay. I suspect if you were in a house it would be fine.

    great sound - airplay dropout......

    • Written by from SPRING HILL

The sound is great. Some reviews express the opinion that the sound would be better from two smaller speakers - this is not my opinion. The sound is stereo although the speakers are of course near each other. It can be VERY loud, room filling and still very clear.
Ours in on the wall and so far - about a year - its great.
HOWEVER- like others - airplay drops out annoyingly?! Seems to relate a bit to the position of the wireless router??
Can plug in your apple device of course.

Sounds great, died 30 min in

    • Written by from Vancouver

Well the first 30 minutes were amazing... the sound quality was awesome. However, after that it simply broke. I can hear a faint flicker on and then flicker off. No sound, whether it's airplay or even wired connection.Getting a replacement in 3 days... may change review after that, but I am seriously disappointed about the craftsmanship of this thing right now.

Sounds great, but airplay drops out every few minutes.

    • Written by from Winnipeg

Between the sound quality and the design, the price is justified, but the AirPlay implementation is horrendous. I can rarely listen to an entire song in one go without the sound pausing for anywhere between 5 and 45 seconds while it does... nothing apparent. Wouldn't recommend; I'll be returning mine and shopping for something else.

amazing speaker that photographs well in a room

    • Written by from Washington

as a professional wedding photographer i tend to take lots of photos in and around my loft for testing new camera equipment. this thing looks so incredibly awesome in the corner of a room and it also happens to sound the best there too. i get a little more bass when i keep the eq button on open room setting and it's just perfect.

very expensive but sounds pristine and looks completely unique.

Got this to replace my Geneva Sound XL, and I have another Beoplay A8 in my room.

    Geneva Sound XL vs. A9
The sound quality from this speaker is amazing, I was expecting much weaker sound from this than my Geneva Sound XL, which has 600Watt and 2 separate sub woofer. However I was amazed, sound is more detail and clear compare to my Geneva Sound. Base was also sufficient and not overpowered.

    A8 vs. A9
Sound quality wise, this is way better than the Beoplay A8! It really is 3 times better than the A8! I found that the A8 is under-power, lack of base and can distort at times. The A9 fixes all the A8's downfall.

Only downside is the USB input only support apple devices, i.e. you cannot hock your computer to this speaker via USB. However you could in the Beoplay A8 (I see this as a major downgrade!).

Android via DLNA works equally well as Airplay although it seems like there is a longer lag!

    Good but not great

    • Written by from Wedel

For an Airplay speaker it is a great system with a decent sound, but not as good as a normal stereo setup, like Peter from Denmark said in his review.
Maybe he works for B&O... maybe this is why he mentioned that the A9 replaced Bowers & Wilkins and Denon equipment...
    But back to the system.
Setup is easy, design and build quality is good but the sound is not worth the nearly 3k. I listened to the system at a B&O store in Hamburg.
It can fill a large room with sound but mono sound. It even become a little unaccurate at higher volumes like the Beoplay A8.
To say it clear 2 middle priced bookshelf speaker around 1k and e.g. a Marantz Melodie Media which is also Airplay capable performs better in clarity, volume and Stereo separation for less than 2k.
If you need the all in one design, go for an Zeppelin Air or the Marantz Consolette and still saving 2k without loosing sound and power qualities.
If you're a B&O lover go for it instead of the Beoplay A8.

    Great design and impressive sound

    • Written by from Copenhagen

We recently bought this airplay system and after having listened to it for a couple of weeks we've decided to discard our existing stereo system (Denon receiver, cd player and iPod dock together with two bulky Bowers & Wilkins loud speakers). It is not just so much more beautiful to look at, the quality of the sound is also much better. It is very easy to set up and it works perfectly with our different Apple gadgets (iPad, iPhone, MacBook). Another advantage is that you can place it almost anywhere in the room without compromising the quality of the sound (when setting up the system, the output can be adjusted to different positions – corner, wall, free-standing). We've placed it on the floor in our living room, but you could also hang it on the wall.

    Fantastic sound, fantastic look

    • Written by from New York

I recently purchased this stereo from the B&O store near my apartment in New York City and have loved it. I decided to place it on the floor of my living room, but I was told it works great mounted on your wall as well. You can't beat the gorgeous audio, and I control it all from my couch on my iPhone.
