    Not worth it!

Ridiculously badly designed zipper!, it starts constantly catching surrounding material and pull the fabric inside the zipper mechanism and finally after 2 months of rather sporadic usage completely fallen apart.

MacBook Pro 13" non Retina Screen

    • Written by from San Diego

Thule Products IMO are the best. This product fits nicely on my MacBook Pro 13" non Retina Screen. It doesn't get hot while in the case and the straps for opening and closing works great. Tough outer shell as well as inside. It's made well. I highly recommend it very much and its very tough. Great for Coffee Houses with WiFi and etc... If I could rate it higher its worth it. Nothing else on the market that comes even close. Just saying...

I got this case because I wanted something slim fit that was harder than a neoprene case. This is simple and works well. Most of the time I'll leave my laptop in the case while I'm using it. What would make this case better, though, would be more padding on the inside and some sort of strap or pocket on the outside to hold the power cord.

    Loose fit

    • Written by from Bredene

The case itself is pretty good; durable and rigid. However, it adds too much bulk. It doesn't fit my retina 13" at all, it is too wide, too deep and too long. I feel like you could almost jam a 15" in here, I have nearly a spare inch on each side. Definitely a big minor.

    why the low ratings ?

    • Written by from Medford

This is the best fit, protection, and price for a quality case, period.
The 5 star ratings should the be only that apply to this sleeve !!!!! :)
Great fit , actions and workmanship,

ALL the less than stellar ratings posted hold NO MERIT to this quality macbook case.

For those that wanted, expected, and found the Thule Gauntlet NOT to be an implosion-proof case with a fit tolerance of +/- .005 are perhaps still looking for the impossible enclosure ,Good Luck .

Good job Thule for having a ideal product as described and Apple for making this available

    Holy Toledo!

I'm not a review writer but I have to correct a completely false statement from a previous reviewer, one that 54 of 63 people found useful as of this writing. He states "Wish the straps would allow for you to open the screen wider instead of stopping at a 90 degree angle". I cringe to think how many sales this cost Thule. I mean who doesn't tilt their screen slightly past the 90 degree mark?

Not only do the ELASTIC straps stretch to allow you to tilt the screen the ENTIRE way back, like as far as the MacBook will allow without snapping off, but if you continue to push back on the half of the case behind the screen it will go ALL THE WAY FLAT TO YOUR DESK! Let go and the elastic straps pull it back up against the rear of your screen. The point of the straps is to keep the half behind the screen always flush against it, providing protection while your using your MacBook while in the case, as I am doing now. There should be more pictures showing the case open with a MacBook inside. Thule's site has a video, though it is of the gen 1 model.

After looking at a few $40.00 basic sleeves in the Apple Store for my newly acquired CL MacBook Pro, I was thrilled today to come upon this case. It's worth 50 bucks, and the semi-hard material screams trucker tough. My non retina 13 has maybe a 1/4" play either way if you zip it up and shake it quickly like you're erasing an Etch A Sketch, but no play if you hold it with both hands and shake it like one would a baby. But why would I do that, except to write a review? This is a well made, durable, and fully functional case, the likes of which I have not come across before. I could do without the rather large white logo, but I guess it will look good if I strap it to the roof of my car...

    great case!

I got this case for my 13" Mac book pro, my Mac book doesn't have retina display but this case fits perfectly. The case is not loose at all. It's also great to use while I'm on my laptop. If you're looking for a case for a Mac Book Pro without retina display this one works!

not ideal for MBP/retina late 2013

    • Written by from Katy

this sleeve probably works great for a regular size non-retina mbp but not with. way to much room in the bag for any ideal protection. but a sturdy sleeve nonetheless. I really wanted a hardshell case for my mbp retina but couldn't find anyones small enough. the ones i found all were literally 5x the size of the laptop i just want a simple hardshell case to fit snug around my mbp. but this will do good for now just wanted any protection while having it in my backpack for school work etc.

Great case, not ideal fit for retina

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I love Thule and I do love this case. It's quite protective and looks great too. It's just a little too big for the 13" retina. But if you're willing to deal with that, or if perhaps you have a shell on your computer, it'd be perfect.

As optimistic as i was for this sleeve, I found that it has an extremely loose fit on the 13"MacBook retina. Other than the fit this case would have gotten a five star rating.

Has a good quality build. Wish the straps would allow for you to open the screen wider instead of stopping at a 90 degree angle. But it keeps your computer safe while traveling as intended. Goowd schtuff!
