Great sound in a small package - best small Bluetooth speaker

    • Written by from Dundas

I bought this a month ago just as Bose was introducing the Soundlink III so I got the II for a great price. I much prefer the sound of the Bose to the Big Jambox but that's subjective. The sound is really smooth and rich with great bass and mids. As per the manual, you will get different results depending on where you place the speaker. There are rear firing speakers so if you place it relatively close to a wall, the bass is enhanced. If you place it too close, it will be muffled, if you place it farther from the wall, less bass. . Definitely a really solid quality build and I prefer the built in cover design to the Soundlink III. I think the Soundlink III sounds a bit better but not much and even if they were the same price, I'd get the II because of the design. Bluetooth pairing is perfect and I've almost never heard of anyone having a problem with pairing this speaker. If you can still find one of these, grab it.

If your debating on this speaker with another one, GO FOR THIS ONE!

I got this speaker oct 10, 2013 and i still use it till this day this speaker is amazing! It gets super loud for its size. Yes its tiny, but trust me this speaker packs a punch! I normally use it for birthday parties and it gets the job done. The little bi fold cover that converts into a little stand it really helpful, keeps all the dust from clogging the speaker. Pairing the speaker is hassle-free. This speaker is not for all of you bass heads. It has a decent amount of bass its there trust me. But its not as powerful as a speaker coming from a beats product, but thats okay because its bose and bose is not meant for having heavy bass music, this speaker is mostly for jazz, r&b, very calm music. This speaker is very useful for your average consumer.

Outstanding product. Has passed all of the tests thus far.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this purchase in the first few weeks of ownership. High quality sound in a compact package. I am using this as the primary speaker for my MacBook Pro. As a result, it is usually sitting quite close to the computer, so I plug it in using the auxiliary plug with outstanding results. I have used the Bluetooth function when using my iPhone and iPad, and this has worked well, too. Range in my home with active wifi devices all over is definitely less than the maximum range of 30 feet. More like 15-20. Seems to do better in spaces with less interference, though such is the way with all Bluetooth devices it seems.

Volume is excellent, though I am looking forward to trying it out in larger rooms with good acoustics to see how much room the sound can fill.

I looked at the comparable products from Beats, Jawbone, and Logitech/UE. I chose the Bose and I do not regret it.

    Excellent sound quality

    • Written by from Eagle Lake

Great overall sound for its small size, decent bass and clear midrange. It is Bose, so of course it sounds good. Bluetooth paired easily and quickly with iPhone 5 and iPad. Also works with MacBook Air, but pairing took longer. We use it to play internet radio via an iPhone app as well as iTunes music collection and YouTube.

The sound quality does change depending on placement in the room. Bass comes from the rear of the unit, and is best when near a wall. This is mentioned in the instructions. Fit and finish is good, high quality. It may seem expensive, but you get what you pay for. Can alter volume from the iPhone or from buttons on top of the speaker. Speaker will memorize up to six bluetooth devices, so you don't have to pair the device and speaker each time you change devices.

The speaker looks good and doesn't take up much space on a desk top. We haven't tried to see how long a battery charge lasts yet, as we run it from the AC adapter. Good sound at low or high volume. Plenty of high volume without distortion. I'm happy with the purchase.

Bose has a reputation for its great sound quality but I really didn't get on with this product. It pairs easily over bluetooth but when streaming from my iTunes library I get a constant irritating clicking sound audible in the background. Have tried killing different processes to see if there is a root cause but no luck. Bose Tech support also no help.

This is the only Bluetooth battery powered speaker you will need to buy period. Sound quality is exceptional. Use is ridiculously simply. And it is loud enough to bother the neighbours without distortion.

I just received my Bose SoundLink in the mail today!! I took it out of the box plugged it in and started to play music!! I love it! It was so easy to set up with my iPhone 5 and I have been listening to music all day now! The sound is great for this little speaker and the Bluetooth range had me covered when I went outside to the back of our huge backyard, the music kept playing inside the house!!!:) I would totally recommend friends and family to buy! I can definitely see us taking this with us to a lot of places!!:)

    Don't be so cheap!

    • Written by from Bayonne

You're probably thinking "maybe there's something else a little cheaper?"
There isn't anything worth it's money compared to this!
This sucker is wireless, charge it and take it to the beach, poolside, anywhere!
    It's loud, with great sound!
Bottom line it's the best, it costs money because it saves money!
    Stop being so cheap!

I researched. I read reviews. And ultimately I took the advice of a sales clerk when deciding between the Big Jambox and the Bose. This little speaker system rocks. I've been very impressed. I've had no problems. The sound is great and the portability is perfect. Remember that iTunes has settings for your music! It's well worth the extra $$$.

    Hearing it changed my mind

    • Written by from Gilbert

I went to a retail store today prepared to buy a competitor at one third the price. But they had the products set up side-by-side for comparison. The Bose was so much better sounding, that I had no choice but to buy the Bose!
I just wish it had a USB port to allow charging my i5.

I am a very entusiast for the music and the very good sound , and I have many Bluetooth speakers ,but, the best one is The Soundlink II.

    Soundlink II vs. Big Jambox

    • Written by from Carbondale

I bought the Bose Soundlink II and the Jawbone Big Jambox to compare which one I liked better. In my opinion, the Soundlink has a deeper, warmer, and richer sound while the Big Jambox has clearer and sharper sound. When it comes to music, I thought the Soundlink simply blew the Big Jambox away. Wasn't even close.

I have a small TV in my bedroom with terrible speakers and I was curious how it would sound if I connected the Soundlink and the Big Jambox to it. In this test, I found that because the Big Jambox provides a clearer and sharper sound, it made for a better TV sound system than the Soundlink. At all volumes, dialogue and background sound was very clear with the Big Jambox. At lower volumes, dialogue sounded muffled with the Soundlink, but at higher volumes dialogue was very clear, although background sound at that volume level can become too loud.

In a related note for those wanting to use either system as a TV sound system as well as a music player, the Soundlink has buttons that allow you to switch back and forth from the stereo cable to your TV and the bluetooth to your music. Unfortunately the Big Jambox does not have this which meant I had to plug and unplug the stereo cable in whenever I wanted to switch back and forth from watching TV to listening to music. So that's definitely a plus for the Soundlink. Another plus for the Soundlink is that it's slimmer design allows for it to be more portable than the blocky Big Jambox.

The Big Jambox has two advantages over the Soundlink that I should note as well. One, the speaker phone system is a nice value added benefit and worked really well. And two, the Big Jambox has way better battery life.

Based on all those consideration, I ultimately chose the Soundlink although I had an incredibly tough time deciding. I chose the Soundlink because the main reason I wanted a mobile speaker was for listening to music in different areas of my house and the Soundlink beats the Big Jambox in both music sound and portability. That said, I would have been very happy with the Big Jambox had I decided to keep it instead. I really wish that Bose had a speaker phone system and TV sound like the Big Jambox, but I guess you can't have it all. If I were you I'd just try to figure out in what ways you'll use your mobile speaker and base your decision which speakers best meets those needs.

    Great speakers.. BUT

    • Written by from Carrying Place

These are fantastic speakers, easy to setup and sound great the only thing missing is a remote for them. When you want to change the volume quickly or turn it off/on from a distance its a little annoying not having a remote and going to your phone or computer. I called Bose and they don't sell any remote that will work with this unit.

Just got this and fired it up. Excellent sound for Jazz. Van Halen was sounding good too. Effortless setup - the device powers on initially in discovery mode.

Another big selling point that some may overlook is that you can pair up to 6 devices with the SoundLink. Perfect for my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Air.
