HP Photosmart 7520 is an ink sponge

    • Written by from New York

I have never had so many problems with a wireless device previously,

Perhaps the most disappointing printer of all times and quite expensive to use because the cartridges run out quickly.

Huge mistake. Everytime they update firmware it looses my network.

    great Printer-when on a roll...

    • Written by from Marina del Rey

But, uses sick amount of constant ink. also, completely unreliable.
HP replaced first year, with a refurbished model.:(

HP as bread and butter (printers) lack relevance or dependability. OBSCENE over-use of ink, weak hardware, wasting time and $$$.

    Loses Connection

    • Written by from Yucaipa

With a dual band router, this printer loses connectivity regularly. (I understand that it happens to single band users as well.) Spent a fair amount of time researching problem to learn nothing I could do would remedy it.
It will not keep connection even if you set a dedicated ip address. It is frustrating and therefore I cannot recommend purchasing it to anyone.
Printer works alright otherwise but not worth money and hassle. I had been a regular purchaser of HP printers in years past but this was my last. Buyer beware.

Problems Connecting With Bluetooth and Uses Too Much Ink

    • Written by from Federal Way

I was able to get the printer to install fairly easily. However, after I had to replace the original ink cartridges I have had nothing but problems.
The printer runs through ink at an incredibly fast rate. I cannot afford to use this printer. I seem to be replacing a full set of cartridges monthly. (Just home use, kids homework ect.... I have less than 750 copies on the machine and I do not print pictures)
I also am having problems with the printer failing to find my Macbook Pro so I am constantly having to reconfigure. This printer is definitely not worth the hassle.

    Great single-use printer!

    • Written by from Greenwood Village

I agree, initial set -up was a breeze and it prints quickly. But once it goes to sleep, it enters hibernation mode and the Power button is somehow converted to a miniature nightlight that cannot be turned off. your only choice is to unplug and re-plug to get it to wake up and be discoverable by both Mac and PC. My iPhone and iPad seem to have better success at waking it up...but I've only had it for three weeks. I like the name assigned to it by another user .... Sleeping Beauty. I haven't given up on it yet....

Two hours of HP tech support....

    • Written by from Los Angeles

....that's what it took to install drivers and connections from my Mini with Mavericks and MacProRetina. DO NOT install any drivers from HP download. They are useless. You must call HP to install out of the box 7520 HP printer

    YOUR NEED A USB CABLE!!!!

    • Written by from Cocoa

After 2 hours of phone calls (after reading the included instructions) I finally got the thing hooked up. I was trying to do this for my parents, to whom I convinced to switch to Apple because of it's ease of use. This printer made me a lier. If you don't hook up the USB cable you do not get the message from the HP Utility where it tells you how important it is to use the USB cable to set it up. Kind of stupid. Maybe it was my mistake but after following the instructions (after the cable was hooked up) it tells you that you need to DISCONNECT the USB cable to continue on with the WIRELESS set up. As soon as you disconnect it the printer can no longer find the network it is connected to???? My parents have a brand new IMac. The only think they don't have Apple is the router. The printer has no problem connecting to get all the online apps running on the screen (useless feature). There should be no reason it cannot communicate with the IMac. Apple's solution is to just keep the USB connected. Why ??? Crapy printer if for only the set up and installation. Would not buy again!!!!

    problem printing double sided

    • Written by from ANDOVER

When printing duplex, the printer cuts of the very bottom of the page. I've spent hours on the phone with HP all to no avail! I have used HP printers for years - have had at least 5 HP printers, however, I'm now looking at replacing it with a Brother printer. The print quality is good, wireless works good (I'm using it with a Mac).

I would be completely happy if it would only print duplex CORRECTLY!

    Ink Cartridge Eater PhotoSmart 7510

    • Written by from Alexandria

I bought the 7510 based on reviews. Have been satisfied with quality and ease of use. I've only printed 330 pages and have gone thru all color cartridges and a black XL cartridge. I use the printer mainly for text printing. Unless your loaded. Skip this printer. I've had to come to terms that any time I need to print something I better go by the store for ink. By the way I bought this a year ago. The XL cart which is supposed to print 550 may have printed 100.

I'm going laser, not laserjet. Good luck.

    HP 7520 review

    • Written by from ORANGEVALE

I bought this printer directly from HP in Jan 2012 and had problems getting it to find the internet address from DHCP from my Linksys router. Many other devices are served just fine except the 7520. My wireless is from an access point not a wireless router but this, according to the 7520 documentation should work fine.

If you select the "Tools" option on the front panel then it has no "return" option so you are stuck on this screen until it somehow times out. The HP printer software guys need to test more thoroughly.

this printer has great features but the wireless software systems is very weak. I have had no problems on my network with a recently purchased HP5514.

the HP 7520 takes over 3 minutes to get an IP address from a router.

    Weird
