Nice Device. The same size as the SoundDock II.

    • Written by from BOSTON

Sound Quality- Excellent. (5 Stars). The system definitely fills the room with great sound. The bass levels were crisp and mid/lows are very succinct
Setup- (4 Stars). - There are two setup options. Download the programs on your mac and run to setup your system. The Air system must run through your home wireless network. If the unit is far from your router you may have intermittent connection issues.
Connection (4 stars)- Once in a while, like Bluetooth the system drops the device. I had to reconnect, but this has been a rare occurrence. I have listened for hours without any problems.
Cost (3.5 Stars)- Wish it was rechargeable for the price.
Controls (4 Stars)- Since volume and changing songs on the remote have to go through your network there is a one second +/- delay. The same with changing the volume level.
I've had it for a week and love the system. Previously I had a SoundDock II.

Sounds great, but can't play on multiple speakers

    • Written by from Washington

Bose sound is definitely one of the strongest for small speakers. This product touts it's ability to play in multiple rooms at once, but neither iTunes nor the iPhone (iOS 6) are capable of streaming music to multiple WiFi speakers at once without a third party device.

    Could Not Connect

    • Written by from Burlington

I was excited when I saw this new product which would give me wireless sound in the room I wanted. When I tried to download the software onto my mac, it would not accept my network password so downloading was not possible. It would download only when I removed my password, but that would leave my network vulnerable. Maybe i just got a bad unit, either way it's going back for a refund today.

    Connectivity issues

    • Written by from Pemberton

The sound from this speaker was great...when it worked.

Didn't really get to experience it to its fullest as the airplay connection would randomly start crackling or the sound would disappear then reappear again, in and out for 30 seconds at a time, often throwing me off wifi and causing me to have to reboot my router.

Bose support had a long list of 'troubleshooting' tips to try and I spent 1.5 hrs on the phone to them trying to sort it out, changing ports on the router and so on, but to no avail. Had to return it :(

We got the Soundlink Air forxmas. Set up instructions were clear an process was simple. It worked for about 2 hours. Then the drop out problems started. Now we cannot even establish the wifi link, iTunes cannot select the Soundlink Air device and the AirPlay button is non existent on my iphone 4. First Bose product, also my last. Sorry, but will be returning the product. Very disappointed when you pay a lot of money for something that doesn't deliver.

I've had the same connectivity issues - easy to set up, and worked perfectly first time. But in spite of re-installing, I haven't managed to connect again, on any device. Very disappointing and frustrating. I wouldn't recommend this product until this basic issue - it's main selling point - is sorted out. A expensive waste of money so far.

    Very good sound... Also frustrating.

    • Written by from Canada

I've never had to turn this thing past about 3/4 of the volume, and the sound quality is reflected in the price; it is superb.

I want to write this speaker the best review possible, but something is holding me back. The setup, although very simple (takes a few mins) has some faults. After setting it up, it pays music perfectly. But after turning it off, the speaker cannot seem to find the wifi when I want to use it again. I have to go through the whole setup process again. Hopefully, Bose can give an update to fix this problem, considering that it came onto the market fairly recently.

The speaker is great, but always having to re-establish the wifi connection is very frustrating.

    Love the versatility

    • Written by from Miamisburg

The versatilty of this product is awesome.

First of all, Bose must have updated the software from the first units, because the setup was a breeze, and I've connected to a variety of devices easily and really fast.

I can connect to iTunes on my son's Macbook Pro, and easily connect to iTunes on my Windows laptop from work. In addition, I can stream iHeart Radio from my iPhone 4S directly, without having a wifi present.

The Bose sound from a small package is always something that you can count on, and the fit/finish of the product is great.

    Royal Pain connecting to WiFi

    • Written by from Medfield

I tried to love this device, which sure looks slick, and sounds ok, but after a couple of months I'm still banging my head against the wall over how stupidly designed it is.

    1) The Power Brick is immense and hogs my whole power strip
    2) You have to buy a separate battery pack for this "portable" speaker!!!!
    3) There is no ON/OFF switch!!!!!
    4) But, what really pushes it over the top is what a pain it is to connect this "portable WiFi" speaker to WiFi. It's at least a 10 minute process of plugging it into your computer, plugging it into the wall, navigating your way to the Bose website, finding the app and installing it (yes, you have to re-download it every single time you connect to a new WiFi, or in my case, every time I go between my two WiFi locations.
It's supposedly able to remember previous WiFi systems, but it doesn't remember one of mine, and now after 30 minutes of trying everything, even the newly downloaded app to reconfigure it, even that is freezing up!!!!!!! Unplugging and replugging it in doesn't help (and NO, YOU CANT TURN IF OFF and back on again, THERE'S NO ON/OFF SWITCH!!!!!!) Have the German engineers gone insane?!!!! Why does my iPhone music play automatically thru Bluetooth every time I step into my Honda? Is Bose run by Cavemen?!!!! Step into the 21st century, folks, where high end expensive stuff is just supposed to WORK!!!!

Cannot connect to my TimeCapsule with WPA2 Personal security

    • Written by from San Francisco

My wireless access point is an Apple TimeCapsule (version 7.6.1). This device would not connect to my WPA2 Personal secure network. I was only able to connect to my guest network with no security. That doesn't work for me since all my music is on my secure network. Had to return this device and am looking for an alternative.

It's incredible that they sell this kind of stuff.
It never stays configurated and after using it one time, the link between computer and sound system is broken. It doesn't show up again in your computer and you need to configure it again by installing it AGAIN. It's a total time and money waste.

This lil piece of equipment is perfect.. The issues mentioned in the other reviews can mostly b resolved by simply restarting itunes . The connectivity is brilliant and so is the sound. Incase of any connectivity issues, Bose has provided an aux port for added convenience. Just wish the battery pack was included in the price as well.

    Great Sound!

    • Written by from SPRING

Sorry to read the bad reviews. The sound link works seamlessly on all my Apple products (iMac, iPad, iPhone) We have two wireless networks in our house and as long as my iPad etc. are connected to the correct network ( the same one that the SoundLink is on) it works fine!

Good sound, crippled by AirPlay connectivity problem

    • Written by from Wayland

Bought this for my daughter's apartment. Set up was a breeze, worked perfectly just long enough to make you think you've found the right AirPlay speaker. Then it happens: intermittent drop-out, a couple of seconds, or longer. Eventually drives me nuts, and I returned it. I first thought it was the Mac OS version, so we tried using Mountain Lion, and using iOS 6.1.3 (iPod, iPhone, iPad). We also experimented with a single pair connection (iOS device and Bose) on the WiFi network to make sure it's not congestion or anything that is related to WiFi.

Bottom line, if you love the sound quality, then get one, but connect it via the analog AUX input. You should think twice if you want to use the digital wireless (AirPlay) feature.

I am now on my second Bose, having replaced the original product as I believed the intermittent connection was a faulty product. Oh so wrong... The replacement is just the same. When it works, well, great. But, it never works consistently.. Would not recommend.....

Superb sound does not compensate for awful Airplay experience

    • Written by from CARDIFF

I have had a similar experience to many other reviewers. The product is very easy to set up and the sound is superb - when working. However, the audio constantly dropped in and out. I tried moving the speakers and the router but still could not completely eradicate the issue. I have other wi-fi products - such as Apple TV and do not experience an issue with video streaming - so would not expect a problem with audio streaming. I have now returned the product and would definitely not recommend it.

    STOP and don't buy it!!!!

    • Written by from Garibaldi Highlands

I gave it one star 'cause I couldn't give less.
I love Apple and Bose products, and I don't exactly who's to blame for the extremely poor performance of this product.
I have and AirPort Extreme and five AirPort Express and I've configured, reconfigured. Researched, guessed and the Bose speaker keeps dropping off from the wifi, so I have give up hope and the next step will be to connected via aux cable to and airport express.

Save your money and patience and go for a Bluetooth option instead; bad Bose, bad!
