First available Bluetooth Smart bike sensor!

    • Written by from Waterloo

A terrific little gadget for the avid cyclist. The only sensor currently available that uses low-energy Bluetooth Smart, so that the sensor battery should last over a year. Uses a standard replaceable watch battery inside. It is waterproof and mounts solidly, so it's fine for both road and trail use. The only problem is that the magnet and rubber loop for the sensor will not fit on larger-diameter aluminum mountain bike frames with thick crank arms and chainstays. Also, it has a slight tendency to be tilted by a fraction of an inch during use or transport, which may cause loss of sensor readings and require a quick re-adjustment. But overall, a must-have accessory. Works great with Cyclemeter. The speed reading is much more accurate than GPS.

Wahoo Blue SC with Specialized Roubaix

    • Written by from New York

The installation was a bit tricky and took some time, but I made it work with some extra parts and electrical tape.
The chainstay on my bike is large and there is very little space between the chainstay and the spokes so I could not use the rubber band that came in the package. I definitely wanted to keep the speed sensor facing down so I zip-tied the cadence sensor and then taped the speed sensor to the chainstay with electrical tape. I put a lot of pressure on the tape which kept the speed sensor flush to the chainstay and allowed for the spokes to clear. However, there was not enough clearance to fit the spoke magnet directly over the line on the speed sensor. To get around this, I had to buy a separate magnet that I taped to a spoke as close to the sensor as possible. Its not perfect, but it works.

Like the product but doesn't fit Specialized Roubaix

    • Written by from Amsterdam

The Wahoo sensor is well made and integrates well with the Wahoo app, unfortunately though I could not fit it to my Specialized Roubaix. The oversized carbon fibre chain stays meant that there just isn't enough clearance for the magnet and the sensor arm to be able to pass each other. At best I need I think it needs at least another 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

I've given them a 4 star rating as I believe that if it fits the bike then it would be a great product and obviously catering for every bike manufacturer is always a difficult task.

    Blue SC and RFLKT

    • Written by from Bulimba

Sensor is compact and simple to install and
sits firmly on the stay. I used the cable ties.
10 mins to install sensor and screen.
Everything worked and sync'd first time.
Great being able to customise screens
Only criticism at this stage are the buttons are
not easy to push when scrolling through the pages and
smaller numbers/text difficult to see in sunlight.
Also when buying from Apple nobody knew much about
the product. Eg difference between ANT+ & Blue tooth etc
as they don't sell the ANT+ version RFLKT but did not have
the Bluetooth Sensors in the new Brisbane store so I had to go
Otherwise it is the next best thing to having
the phone in front of you

    Really like Wahoo Products!

    • Written by from Thibodaux

The blue SC sensor works great. I like Wahoo's apps. My only complaint with this sensor is that the speed pick up wand has to be arranged in a manner inconsistent with its original design to avoid hitting the spokes of the rear wheel on my road bike frames. Nonetheless it can be mounted and seems to work fine.

    Winter is not fun

    • Written by from Madison

This has been a bitter winter. Thank goodness for my snow bike. When I can't hit the trails on my snow bike this thing makes my trainer tolerable by distracting me with a bit of tech. The Wahoo App works great as well. Good company good product.

    Accuracy and battery life!

    • Written by from Chicago

I'm a techie and the perfect consumer! Love new devices with Bluetooth capabilities. This device is nice! Most of my disappointment quit possibly comes from the iPhone updates that may prevent connectivity at times. However, works great! Doesn't drain cell battery. However, replacing battery in the blue SC & HR too frequently for my taste for the cost of the batteries! Overall very pleased! Grade:4.5!

    Wahoo blue SC

    • Written by from Amlwch

    It's great. That's it.
But...... Check one major problem before you spend your money
I have a Specialized Allez and a Specialized Roubaix both of which have chain stays that curve inwards there is no room for the spoke magnet to pass the sensor arm and also the pedal crank magnet is too far from the sensor. The only way I can use it is upside down on the turbo trainer. An adapter block would be the answer and should be included as it is useless without being able to put the unit in the correct place.

Great sensor - problematic fit on Specialized Roubaix

    • Written by from CHARLOTTESVILLE

Once I got it working, I love the sensor and the basic app from Wahoo is good as well. I am happy with the device, but...it wouldn't fit my Specialized Roubaix out of the box. The gap between crank arm magnet and sensor was too large. I ended up reinstalling the crank arm magnet from my old Sigma, which has a riser that makes it about 1cm closer to the sensor, and it is working great. Aside from the fit issues - which may be too much for some - I would definitely recommend.
