    FYI, scanner requires software install

I purchased this printer for my elderly mother for her periodic coupon printing and occasional scanning.
We trashed her Windows desktop and I set her up with an iPad as her primary device. Set up was a breeze.
This printer is great for basic printing. It's a tad noisier than other printers but its compact and airprint is a plus.
Just a note though about scanning, you need a desktop or laptop to install the software to scan to email, pdf, cloud or pc features. So unfortunately if she needs to scan, I'm stuck with showing her how to scan to memory card and then using an adapter to load the jpg onto her iPad.
It's a pain for an elderly non-tech friendly person but it's a doable.
If I had known the scanning feature would not be able to done without software installed, I may have reconsidered another model.

    very easy to set up
    works with all my things
    like computer ipad iPod
    only one problem
will only scan from my computer
will not scan from pressing scan on printer
I was on the phone twice with epson and was told the best way to scan is from the epson app on the computer,
not one tech person could get it right
    copies fine
    slow photos
    good for the price

After reading many reviews stating how simple to set up and use I was looking forward to buying and using. Two days later after attempting to set up wireless I did manage to print some material. Easy - not so much. Not sure why but for me a bit of a pain.
Two days ago my wife attempted to print from her wireless Mac without success. We reverted to our old HP laptop and used an older wired HP printer.
A few hours later the new Epson XP-400 began printing the copies requested earlier by my wife.
Very strange indeed. We will keep working on it and see if we can figure it out.
The quality of print/copy is good for the price.

Even at $100 NOT a good deal

Difficult to set up. Once it is difficult to keep working wirelessly. Photos tend to have a bluish tint.
Where have all the good printers gone?
