    PREMIUM quality in every aspect!

    • Written by from Lafayette

Initial battery charge took a couple of hours for full power. The pairing process was quite simple. My iPhone found the headset immediately and paired quickly. When launching Parrot Audio Suite it informed me of an available update. I selected update firmware and it downloaded and transferred the update in no time.

    SOUND***
Default sound settings are Parrot Concert Hall and it sounds really good. Overall gives a good "3D" sound a concert hall can provide. Sound coming from all angles in a good way. You can really tell the difference when you turn the Concert Hall effect off, because the sound kinda goes flat. Individual sounds become more pronounced. I’m pleased with this effect.

The Lou Reed preset amplifies the sounds to bring them “closer to you.” I love this preset for certain songs. It can make a song sound truly amazing but others can be base heavy.

There is an equalizer setting which allows you to set your sound personally and this includes 6 more presets. They are Vocal, Pop, Club, Punchy, Deep and Cristal. One of these should fit your needs and if not you can always adjust according to get the sound you want.
Overall, my favorite preset is the Lou Reed preset for the majority of songs I listen to.
The sound these headphones put out is clear, sharp and in your face if you so choose.

    FEATURES***
Call Quality is excellent, very clear and understandable.

The touch controls are flawless and very intuitive. I didn’t expect the volume to be able to be finely adjustable but the touch reminds me of the sensitivity and accuracy of Apple touch screens on iPhone and iPad. Switching tracks is just as intuitive with forward and backwards swiping over the right panel. Volume is swiping up and down. You can also pause and resume by tapping the right panel.

When you take the headphones off, the track automatically pauses, and continues once you put them back on. You don’t even have to give it a second thought.

Noise Cancellation actually works and it does it well. I’ve used other noise canceling headphones before and they didn’t quite do the job, but these came through for me. Great for studying and being on an important call.

    DESIGN***
As for design, I must say these are a very stylish pair of headphones made with quality materials. Feels sturdy and well built. Even the cables are of premium quality and not cheap. The magnetic battery cover is a nice touch that is very well executed.

Battery life is very good and holds its charge well when not in use.
Using the headphones without power and only the cable works very well. Sounds very good and crisp. You obviously can’t get all the eq presets from the Parrot suite but you can use the device eq presets on the hardware you are listening to. This should provide an even better dynamic range.

OVERALL- Parrot Zik are stylish, feature rich, versatile, futuristic, comfortable headphones with EXCELLENT sound quality. Well worth the price tag!

    The best wireless headphones!

    • Written by from Winnipeg

I have now used the Parrot Zik headphones for a month listening mainly in the bluetooth mode with the free app Parrot Audio Studio for the iPhone and iPad. I have listened to music, movies, and podcasts. The sound is amazing for a bluetooth connection. The app on the iPhone and iPad makes the sound even more incredible and I am in love with the 'Lou Reed' mode. The 'Lou Reed' mode works great for music and podcasts, bringing the bass to life in any audio source. The headphones are very comfortable even when wearing for several hours. The touch controls, I hate to say it, are magical. Being able to tap to play/pause, touch up/down for volume, and touch left/right for track, never having to touch the iPhone or iPad makes me smile ever time. I have used many other wireless headphones, and these are the best by far. Highly recommended.

    Parrot Zik Review

My wife and I have used the Parrot Zik for almost 2 months with our iPhone 5s and 5c, listening to music, audio books and Netflix/Apple TV in noisy urban environments and also at our rural cabin.

Our tastes in music and other audio are very different so the Zik were a wonderful way to enjoy our own entertainment at a good volume, while at the same time not interfering or intruding on each other.

Rather than using separate rooms with closed doors, we could sit together on the couch with no sound leaking through to either side.

We also tested the sound cancelling capabilities around construction and machinery. Overall impressions are very high. The headphones are comfortable, easy to use (pairing and installation of the Parrot app took just minutes) and sound terrific. The also do an excellent job of cancelling out external noise.

Wearing them for hours was very comfortable as they are light and adjust to fit nicely. Controls are intuitive and easy to use. We did not need to consult the manual to start using, although I did read through it later for the sake of being thorough on understanding all the features.

Battery life seems a bit short, but charging is quick and spare batteries are inexpensive and easily swapped. The Parrot Zik are an impressive piece of kit for anyone who enjoys music, audio books or the sounds of silence and we are using them regularly. Once again, Parrot has come up with a winner!

I am in love with these things. The sound quality is amazing and the comfort is the best I have ever felt.
The time between charges was a complete surprise. I wear them most of the day sometimes and check the remaining battery life and it has hardly moved!
If you enjoy and appreciate the quality and clarity of your music as much as I do I promise that you will be blown away.

Solid Wireless sound. Great quality. Beautiful design.

    • Written by from Gauteng

I’ve always respected Parrot Products, they are unique, innovative and consumer focused. I had no doubt that the Zik headphones would be great. After all, Parrot claims they have created the world’s “most advanced wireless headphones”.

From the moment you open the box, you realise the that is was build with precision and care. The feel of the Zik is of quality. A particular focus on aesthetics and simplicity. Designed by renowned Philippe Starck. And it shows, it is beautiful.

The noise cancellation is very good.
The Zik uses four microphones that monitor the surrounding noise, then it creates opposing sound waves to actively cancel the noise.

The Zik uses the following audio codecs: AAC & SBC.
I tested it by connecting the jack to a DAC and to the headphones.
To me, an important element for great sound is to listen to it at low volume, I know, it sounds strange, but the way any headphone performs at low volume is of paramount importance to the audio quality it delivers. The Zik did not disappoint at any stage. I used various uncompressed files from Classical to Modern music. The sound is pristine. In all ranges, from good quality lows to full mids and dynamic highs. But the beauty of these headphones is in its flexibility. Use the App to tweak the sound to your exact liking.
From Mp3’s to uncompressed, from Bluetooth to direct in, the headphones sounded exceptionally good.

The touch surface is ideal for interacting with devices, no need to touch your phone or PC. You can control various functions of the Zik by sliding your finger on the surface of the right ear cover.
    A very intuitive feature.

It is certainly not an impulse buy, but a well formulated decision to own a unique set of earphones.
No doubt that you will be extremely happy with the Zik. Not only will the technology of the Zik’s amaze you today, but it guarantees to be future proof. Parrot’s firmware updates will add more functionality and features in time to come. I personally hope they add a battery indicator without having to go into the app. Maybe increase battery life and refine the app a bit more.
Its pure audio brilliance. In every sense.
    Thats value for money.
    You will appreciate music again.

Well done Parrot, I think you certainly created the world’s best wireless headset.

i am so glad that i did not listen or pay attention to all the bad reviews. Worth every single penny. Of course there are a few glitches here and there but that is totally to be expected with a wireless device. Even when i use it while biking, its still sounds great. Will definitely recommend it for a friend.

    Parrot ZiK headphones

    • Written by from Springfield Gardens

Got the Black/Gold headphones V1.08.. I was very skeptical when I went ahead and got the pair because of many low reviews from around the internet. Just to make it clear I came from many headphones some of them are Beats Studio's and pro's, Bowers and Wilkins P5 and Bose QC15's and many many other headphones. I am using my Zik updated to V1.10 paired to my iPhone 5s. Updating the firmware was easy and on phone took less than 3 mins. Charged the device with my apple charger and micro usb cable provided, pairing was really easy and took less than a second. Tried all the modes even Lou Reed's setup but in the end I preferred my own Had Noise Canceling on and Concert hall on living room and speakers spread to 120 degrees. Tuned the equalizer. These headphones are spectacular thumping Bass and tight. Clear punchy Mids. Crisp highs Love these and Would definitely keep these for a long time. The battery lasted around 5-8 hours depending on the volume. Quite reasonable for all that technology. The touch controls are flawless and makes life easier. The app is minimalist looking but very effective. I would definitely buy an extra battery for travel use and keep it in charge just in case. And a hard case would come in handy for protection otherwise the best bluetooth headphones.

These are incredible. Comfortable, outstanding audio quality, and watching the look on the faces of the poor saps with Beats when they see the touch controls is priceless. However, more than simply Bluetooth headphones, these really shine when you use the (included) cable. They are outstanding with Bluetooth (which is by its very nature imperfect), but the combination of processing and drivers really come to life with an actual wired connection. Bluetooth for convenience. Wired for jaw dropping sound. Coolness to satisfy the most discriminating of geeks. Criticisms? Once ina while the touch controls freeze, but removing the battery resets it (happened 2-3 times in hundreds of hours of listening). And, these *should* include a hard case at this price.

    Start of something big...

    • Written by from AURORA

    Boy, oh boy!

You can never tell what is good sound and sot so good sound while in an Apple store. Always seems to be a jazzy atmosphere. Some items that are just ordinary seem all of a sudden to be special. So although the Parrot looked a little different, when I tried them on and listened to the sound I was not overly impressed.

Later at a specialty gadget store –Brookstone—I tried on another pair. A bunch of Bluetooth headphones were on a display tree. I tried several models/makes. But only the Parrot caught my attention. My wife noticed the excitement in my eyes and POW! I got a pair for Christmas.

Well let me tell you this: They are far better than I thought. Their sound is reminiscent of the days of lying on the living room floor until the wee hours of the morning.

Back then the headphones were almost glued to my ears as the heat/sweat suctioned my face like a clamp. But it was ok, because I was enveloped in the sound. (Of course it’s all relative. The only other sound “systems” were the console and 8-track!)

The Bluetooth Parrot Zik’s are great. I have listed to Internet streamed music, my own home music. I have enjoyed them on my iPhone, iPad, desktop, and laptop and also at the gym.

A comfortable listening range of about 30-35ft.

They are not inexpensive, but they are also not cheap. The ear cushions are well thought out. No sweating—comfortable even after a long session.

The volume, on/off, previous/forward and ability to listen and talk on the phone~~~ Pure Genius!!

In addition a VERY USEFUL and downloadable app that lets you really tailor the sound to YOUR taste. Serious.

    Very Cool,

    Thanks Sweetheart!

Wow! The other 5 star reviews are no lie!

    • Written by from Juneau

I am SO glad that I did NOT listen to the 1-2 star reviews! I went ahead and purchased at Apple, and I whole heartedly agree with the 5 star reviews!

My headphones of choice are my BeyerDynamic DT-1350-80 & Sony MDR-MA900. These cans rival them and these are BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES! I even dare say that they can actually sound better with tweaking of the soundstage.

I really do prefer to enjoy my music rather than care about how flat or "as close to reference" a set of cans can be so, I guess that makes me a non- audiophile. My desire to hear the best that my music can sound is what drives me though. That explains my other two headphones of choice. The BT's for "reference" and portability and my MA900'S for soundstage and enhanced PC gaming experiences.

An extra bonus of late is that they work great with my Nokia 1020 now with the new Windows Phone 8 Parrot Audio Suite!

As for most of the 1-2 star ratings; there's an old saying I had in the military, "Be smarter than the equipment!". Read the manual and actually TRY to use your $400 headphone gear properly! Nothing is more annoying than reading bad reviews due to a user's ignorance!

It is IMHO, that these Ziks are the best Bluetooth Headphones you can get while also being as close to "wired" quality as you can get. But don't take my word for it, go try them out for yourself!

    Excellent headphones

    • Written by from Montreal

These are simply the best headphones I've ever owned, wired or not. The sound and noise cancellation are both outstanding, the headphones are extremely comfortable, the Bluetooth connection is reliable, and the touch controls put these headphones into an entirely different category. In my opinion, these are amply worth the stiff price tag; I've had wired headphones that cost as much or more and didn't match these in terms of sound quality.

    Best Wireless Headphones

    • Written by from New York

Over the years, I have tried dozens of earphones, from Apple, Bose, Sony, Klipsch, and many others. None of them have been provided as good sound, quiet, and comfort as the Parrot Zik by Starck. The earphones can be connected directly to an iPhone, iPod, iPad, Mac, and even to airplane seats with a supplied cable. I fly several hundred thousand miles a year and use the Parrot earphones to listen to the music from the airplane seat and my various devices. It has four microphones that detects ambient noise and virtually completely eliminate all background noise. That coupled with a very comfortable cushion, very little sound in your surroundings will get through.

The earphone has three unique features that I have not seen in any other earphone.
    1. You increase or decrease the volume by swiping the right earphone with your finger up or down.
    2. You single-tap to stop, double-tap to start.
    3. You swipe forward to go to the next song, and swipe backward go to the previous song.
    4. If you take off the phone (it senses where your ear is in the cushion), it will turn off the music on your device.

The sound quality is superb, studio quality with deep base and great high frequency. On the iPhone and iPad, you can download a Parrot Audio Suite where you can experiment with all sorts of sound effects (changing the stereo effect, etc.)

The length of the battery depends on use. If you are in a noisy environment and are playing the music at a high volume, it can go for 4-6 hours on a single charge. You can charge it while listening. I charge it by plugging it into the USB port of the Mac that I am using or a small portable battery with a USB port that I carry until the light on the earphone turns green, usually a few hours of charging will do the job.

Finally, you can set the device so that it answers your phone with a single tap of the right earphone. The music stops and the quality of the phone call is really very good with all the noise cancellation that the earphone provides. The caller hears very little background noise and you hear no background noise. This is very carefully thought out and engineered earphone that operates remarkably well.

All devices of course may have some drawbacks. Here are some.
    1. Batteries. The batteries do not appear to be replaceable. I have had the device for since last fall (for about 8 months) and it is still functioning well. Yes, it is a expensive headset and I worry about what would happen if the batteries were to die. So far, that has not happened.
    2. The device is bulky. Although it folds flat, it takes quite a lot of room.
    3. Sometimes, the device can get confused if you have too many bluetooth devices clamoring for its attention. When that happens, I just pull out the cable that connects it directly to the devices and plug it in to listen to the music. The earphone turns off the bluetooth when it senses music coming in through the cable. Of course, when you are not connected via bluetooth, it behaves like a dumb but very good earphone.

    Love them

    • Written by from Bolton

I would guess that some of the people that are having problems do not have them set up properly. I have used them with 1st gen. iPad, macbook and iPhone 4 and 5. They work great with all.

I have used these for walking and listening to music or audio books and they are fabulous. I turn the noise cancelling off when walking.

I have used these on a flight and found the noise cancelling excellent.

The parrot app works well and is such a cool feature.

Sound quality is great imo but I am not a audiophile. Once the battery is dead they still work with a cord but the quality of sound is diminished. I usually carry a portable charger with me so that happened once.

I would recommend them and purchase them again if I had to.

If travelling by air and rail has taught me anything this year, it's that good noise-cancellation is essential if I'm to cling onto whatever sanity I have left.

While the battery life could be better, the noise-cancellation is - in my opinion - better than the Bose QC3's (it doesn't feel as brutal, yet works just as well) and the sound quality is brilliant (I'm no audiophile, so they sound amazing to me).

    • Written by from Naperville

OK i devoted months to reading online reviews of headphones to see what was best. Online, the Parrot Ziks scored well in the "wow" factor, but less on sound quality. I ended up buying a set of PSB M4U 2 cans which are corded and they are great. Great sound stage. I'm not sorry i bought them. But going to the Apple Store last week to buy another Cinema Display and seeing the Ziks in stock reminded me I had never gotten over my love affair with them...so i bought the Ziks. If i had to do it all over again, i would buy the Ziks right away. No problems with bluetooth. Sound is great. Portability with no cords is unbelievably cool at the office, commuting. And the wow factor! I use them every day. The ANC is stellar on the Ziks. Try putting them on your head with them turned off, then turn them on and hear the silence...it's like you're working from outer space. Just buy them! You won't regret.

They are awesome. The sound is fantastic. The app works great. They are very durable. I travel every week... and they stand up to travel very well. The noise canceling is comparable, if not better than Bose. The sound, using my iPhone 5 is exceptional. I hear notes, I have never heard. The coolest thing is the touch control on the right ear... so you can do volume, or control your music. Cant stand Bose anymore, after using these. A lot of people are curious, when they see them... not too many people have ever seen them. They are a little bulky... but they have to be, in order to be to be around ear. They are not cheap... but they are worth it.
