For this holiday season I decided to buy myself a new pair of headphones. I wanted ones around the $300 range that reproduce the music as good as if you are sitting in a one-audience concert, and looked stylish. My friend has had the Beats Studios since last Christmas so I asked him if I could borrow them for a few days. He said sure, And then quickly said "I'm not going to be missing them anyways." I was a little confused by his statement.

So for the next few days I sat listening to them, with just about every genre varying the past 50 years. They sounded great compared to the Apple Earbuds that I had always used. Then I found out about the Sennheiser Momentums($300) and the ATH-M50($150) through multiple forums. I decided to buy those two and see how they compared. Whichever one was the best, I would keep/buy.

So after 24 hours of "burn-in" on each headphone I decided to test them out with ALAC quality music. Instantly, I heard a considerable difference in the Momentums and M50 vs the Beats. I patiently listened to each for several more hours and found the Beats Sudio to be very muffled with too much bass. And when I mean muffled, I mean VERY muffled compared to the others. Even the M50 had much more clear vocals and instruments. You could even close your eyes and pinpoint where each individual instrument was being played!

Since I had $300 I decided to go with the Sennheiser Momentums with its English Brown, Sewn in leather and polished steel. I'm really glad I didn't buy the Beats Studio.

    They don't deliver for $300

I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I know what $300 should give you in terms of audio quality. I've listened to many different headphones from $100-$150 range (Audio-Technica, Ultrasone, Sennheiser all have cans in that range) and they've all sounded superior to this one.
It's funny how listening to a headphone that costs $120 (Ultrasone HFI 580 or Audio-Technica ATH-M50) can make you feel like it's a major upgrade in quality.
Beats look good and sound decent but for the $$$ it's a shame, kinda insulting.

If noise canceling is your main purpose, these headphones are not for you. If sound quality is what your looking for, these headphones are absolutely unbelievable. The sound is not only rich but you will hear all instruments. I'm truly glad I purchased these headphones. Pricey, but like the old saying, you get what you pay for.

Great sound, Mic doesn't work at all

I love the sound quality. It's amazing, but I'm a little upset that the mic doesn't work with my phone. I called Beats about it, and I was pretty much told this is a common issue. There was no fix. I was pretty much told I was SOL. While that annoys me, they are still great for music. I love how it kicks the bass properly.

I love the look and sound of the studio's. They sound great, are able to block out noises, and look really nice. They also are very comfortable. One set of batteries gets me about 1 month of listening for about 3 hours a day. The only complaint is they are bulky.

Overpowered, muddy bass, underwhelming treble and mids. Anyone who believes otherwise is probably listening to low-bitrate music anyway.

I can buy 2 pairs of better headphones for the same price.

I've had my Beats by Dre Studios for about a month, now. These headphones are fantastic if you're transitioning over from Skullcandy earphones or those Apple earphones that come with your iPod/iPhone. However, I've had multiple problems with these headphones. The sound quality was overall decent: bass was overpowering, mids/synths were all over the place. I'd recommend using the Treble Maximizer in the iPod/iPhone/iPad's equalizer settings if you're going to get these headphones. I'd recommend Audio Technica ATH-M50s to audiophiles and those looking for better-quality headphones at a cheaper price. I just wished Apple sold them, though.
