Not sure why Mophie refuses to make this obvious change...

    • Written by from Shelton

I have been using Mophie cases since my iPhone 3...I love having the additional backup battery. The 4 has a very lousy design. When ever I dropped it it landed on the same corner that their charging jack is located. When it drops 3-4 times its starts to crack there. (Who doesn't ever drop their phone???) While I'm happy the case protected the phone, it caused the jack to malfunction. I exchanged it once, bought a new one once - hoping that knowing they had an issue - and they KNOW they have an issue they would make a modification... NOPE!

I have one on my 5s and thankfully they made the change, but I have NEVER been able to get any data to pass through. NEVER since the 3 and they knew that too!

Not sure if it's an Apple thing or a Mophie thing...But it is a real things and a real pain in the @$$!

    I don't recommend

I purchased the Mophie for my Iphone 5. It worked great for about 90 days, then no longer accepted a charge. I took it back to AT&T and received an exchange. The second Mophie lasted about 60 days and now wont accept a charge.
Great Idea but overall it is not worth it. I will return this for a refund and not get another.

    Do NOT waste your money

I received this case as a gift. It worked for three days and now the case will not charge my iPhone 4s very unhappy with this product. Do not fall victim to this company's poorly constructed product.

    Destroyed the phone !!!

The Mophie case made the battery expand because of the high heat it creates. The Mophie case caused the screen to peel off the phone!!

    Surprises and disappointments

    • Written by from Calgary

Prior to this case I had the Juice Pack Air for my 4s and loved it. It had data pass-through, a solid design, and no overly recessed headphone jack.

Fast forward to the Juice Pack Plus for my 5s. It does NOT have data pass-through so I'm constantly having to take my case apart to listen to music in my car or on my portable radio, and the case just doesn't feel as 'solid'.

No data pass-through is the biggest let down for me.

    Mine lasted 2 days!

    • Written by from Sydney

Worked fine for a day but the next time I went to charge it, it simply would not charge up. I had to remove the phone and reattache the two parts several times. It was hit and miss to get it to start charging (without the phone) and I don't like the idea of having to fiddle with what should be a simple process. The connectors seem flimsy and I don't think it will stand the test of time - well after 2 days is certainly did not. An expensive piece of rubbish! I regret not reading these reviews first. Why does Apple keep a product that so many clients have complained about? Clearly this product has design flaws.

    Adequate but major limitations

    • Written by from Mount Kisco

As others mention, mophie uses a micro usb port on the outside of the case.
What this means is that to sync your phone, plug into media port in your
car or to connect your iphone to any other service that requires pass through
to the apple port you need to remove the bottom of the battery pack.

I think this is a cheap design and charging $100 for this is inexcusable other
than the fact consumers (including myself) will pay for this junk.
Other than that the battery works and does extend the phone minutes.
    But apple users expect more.

    Two major design flaws...

    • Written by from Pleasanton

This product is slick and works great except they made two big mistakes. First, it has a micro USB jack instead of the same firewire jack on the i5. How many different cables do we need to carry around? Second, instead of just building in a phone jack extension, it uses a lame little extender cable - just another thing to lose or forget when you need it. If the engineers had thought a bit harder this would be a great product worthy of 5 stars.

    Great, but...

    • Written by from BROADLANDS

I have had my Mophie Juice Pack Plus (the big one) for almost two years now. Absolutely no problem with charging or getting a full charge on my phone. I RARELY take the Mophie off my phone. I leave it on my phone, charge it overnight and, typically, am fully charged overnight...as well as my phone. It has no problem charging my phone to 100%. I also leave the charging switch to the "on" position so I'm constantly charging my phone until the Mophie runs out of juice. On the rare occasions where that has happened, I can take off the Mophie, plug it in, and still have nearly a full charge on my phone.

My BIGGEST gripe is the flare I get on all my flash pictures because of the reflection on the camera/flash opening. It's very deep and, even though it angles away from the lens, the pictures I take with the Mophie attached are horrible. I take the same picture with the Mophie case removed and the picture turns out perfectly. Seems like a suitable solution, but forget about spontaneity. I don't take a ton of flash pics but I WOULD like to find a solution, whether it's painting that opening with a very flat black paint or just cutting it to make it larger.

Regardless of the flash flare issue, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

    Mophie Customer Service

I had my mophie for 10 months. It really comes in handy for long bike rides and runs where I use an app that uses GPS which drains battery. A few weeks ago, it suddenly stopped charging my iPhone. I sent an email to mophie and they responded quickly. I could not find my receipt, but I sent a photo of the serial # from the inside of the case.. I received a return authorization and within a week they sent me a new one. I was pleased that they made good on their warranty. I really like the ability to keep my phone charged.

    Worst purchase ever!

    • Written by from Sunbury

I never write reviews but this was the worst product I have purchased in awhile. I purchased one it worked once then stopped. Exchanged it, the new one only charged my phone to 75% then stopped working. Will be returning it this week for a refund. Great concept, but doesn't work.

    Love it

    • Written by from Abilene

I bought a Mophie with my iPhone 4S. It worked beautifully for me. I dropped it several times and it was fine but finally one drop seemed to affect the charging. I fiddled with the cord and case and when it showed it was charging, I would gently set it down and it would charge. I have loaned it to others who like it. Bought another so have 2 now. Only thing I don't like is that it is heavy. Would definitely buy again.

    Doesnt fully charge

    • Written by from PLANTATION

I have had this case for about a month now and for some reason the case will not always fully charge. I do not keep on iphone at all times. I take it off and charge on its own over night and only use when needed. After 15 hrs of charging it still said that it was not fully charged. Another concern I have is this doesnt even fully charge the phone. I only get to 80% with this after being at 0. Good idea but cant believe it costs as much as it does! Is probably worth $20 AT MOST.

    problem charging

    • Written by from Austin

I had the same problem as others describe. My mophie stopped charging suddenly. I took the iPhone from the apparatus and blew high velocity air over the connector for the phone and into the micro connector on the side. Works fine now. I guess things get crudded up from the pocket lint.

Mohpie Juice Pack Pro for 4s WOULDNT CHARGE but i FIXED it!!!!!

    • Written by from WESTLAKE VILLAGE

My Mophie Juice Pack Pro would not charge after a couple of months and I figured I got ripped off like most of the other reviewers due to a failed port connection . Then the phone rang and I dropped it (without the rubber outside part on to keep it all together). The pack hit the ground and broke in to the 3 separate pieces. I actually thought it was only a 2 piece thingy and diddnt know the bottom piece disconnected from the back top piece. Too make a long story short I reconnected the 3 pieces and now it works fine!!!! The moral of the story is make sure all 3 pieces are well connected. PRAISE THE LORD !!!!

Good Customer Service - Poor Design

    • Written by from Ringwood

Sorry, but no earth shattering news here. Mophie customers service is spot on with taking care of complaints, however the micro USB port design is a guaranteed failure after 45 days. The product is great, beyond this single flaw. Good protection, good runtime, But an un-chargeable battery is useless. I'll keep getting replacements until they change the design, or go broke doing warranty replacements. Hopefully it won't be the latter. The product gets zero stars for this deficiency. The lone Star on the rating is for excellent customer service.
