got one, broke down, sent it back,. they tried to hide an inferior hd on the return. I complained, they send me a new one. broke down again.
Not the drive, but the box and the circuit that Lacie makes are really bad quality.
    DO NOT BUY LACIE!

    Never worked

I ordered this drive based on the good reviews it received. But when I plugged it in, I could not connect to it. I worked my way through LaCie's support line and we eventually determined that the disk was damaged and needed to be fixed. I had to return this product, but luckily I was within the 14 days of purchase, so I was able to return it to an Apple store easily. I do not recommend purchasing this product.

Brought this drive home from the Apple store to use with Time Machine and an iMac using USB 2. Set it up using LaCie's proprietary software. Started the first backup, which is supposed to take longer (about 250 GB). After 10 hours, the software told me the backup would take 2,400 days to complete--I'm not exaggerating. Downloaded fresh drivers and desktop software for the drive from LaCie's Web site and reformatted the disk with Disk Utility. Same result, with throughout of about 16K/second, which is outrageous. Drive is going back to the store tomorrow.
