    Broken in 9 months

    I had problems with the drive 6 months in that required a 2 hour visit to the Apple Store and now, 9 months after I purchased the drive, it has completely failed. Although the product comes with a two year warranty, it should be noted that my warranty repair through LaCie will not be free - I will either pay to ship the unit to the company and wait weeks for the repair or I will have to pay a replacement fee in order to get a new unit shipped immediately.

    Owning the drive and seeking a repair has been a gigantic headache and I wish I had gone with another brand. My advice: pay the extra money to get a better drive.

    Not worth purchasing

    I purchased this device hoping to use it for a long time. Unfortunately not even a year, it is already giving me issues. It no longer mounts to my MBP. I have tried everything. It recognizes on a friends MB Air which I am currently backing up my data to another external HD (not LaCie) which works perfectly fine with my MBP. I contacted LaCie customer service, which I am still under warranty. They sent me a new cable (which the first cable was really loose) and the new cable (much better) but still the same issue - not recognizing it. I've been informed that they will send me a 2nd cable (Y cable) so the device can get more power. The whole point is being able to utilize my other ports for other things if necessary. Its not worth spending your money. Find a company who has high energy of power with their cable so you won't have this issue moving fwd.

    I enjoyed this drive for a while, but now my computer won't recognize it and I need to access my photos!
