    Aesthetics, functionality, and protection.

    To address the previous reviewer, if the bumper covered the edge where the home button resides, the speakers would be muffled and it would be more difficult to plug in your phone.

    I was also concerned about the material of the hardshell case. As the previous reviewer said, it's slippery. The surface is smooth and shiny, but it's not slippery. That was one of my main concerns. In fact, I was surprised at the good grip I can get.

    It also provides great protection. The case seems as if it would be really frail, but it's not. The first time I dropped my iPhone, it landed screen-down, but the edge of the bumper acted as a buffer, preventing damage. The second time I dropped my phone on concrete, but the case took the beating (while still staying in tact) when it hit the ground. It still works great though!

    The only problem I have is that the white bumper loses its color. It starts to yellow and mine sort of turned reddish. However, I wasn't too bothered because it seems to add character to my phone case.

    Looks good, a bit pricy

    I loved the look of this case from the moment I set my eyes on it - and months later I'm still not sick of the design. Only thing is the white bumper part of the case is originally perfect white which I loved on my white iPhone, but only about 2 weeks later it started to dirty and turn a purply colour. I took a full day and tried everything I could to get it back to that original white colour, without success. Which is why I wouldn't pay that amount of money again for that type of case. Other than that, it's very sturdy and protects my phone without being too bulky.

    Protective and Stylish

    I needed to look for a case that didn't add too much bulk, because my cat keeps chewing on my charging cords. As a result, I had to buy this clock that had a built-in iPod/iPhone dock. None of my other cases--Otterbox Commuter and Speck Candyshell would work with the clock dock, so I took the case off altogether, resulting in scratching my camera lens severely.

    Bought this Kate Spade case last night and it's pretty decent. There are 2 pieces to this case--I suppose that's why they call it a "hybrid"--it's got a white "bumper" to protect the edges, then the hard plastic, decorative shell. Tried it on the clock dock last night and it works!!! Looks like it will be a good product to protect the camera lens as well.

    Only issue so far is the "added bulk" near the earphone jack--couldn't put the AUX cable in this morning to my car.

    I loved this case until the white started to get dirty and no cleaner would return it to the original white. One month later the plastic coating started to peel off . Kate Spade would not stand behind their product and would not replace it. Although I love the look and feel of the case I would not recommend this case.

    Staining

    This case is very cute and I get a lot of compliments on it, however the white bumper part stained very quickly and is now a bit gross looking. It can't be cleaned. :(

    Beautiful but two significant issues:

    The insert which serves as a bumper should really cover the entire perimeter of the phone. Current design neglects the edge where the home button resides

    Material of the case is slippery.
