Awful Printer - Does Not Work with AirPrint

    • Written by from LONDON

Have had the printer for 48hours and it works well as a wireless printer for a PC but will not work with AiPrint or any iOS device. Severe buyer's remorse has now set in....

    Not recommended

    • Written by from Auburn

I purchased this printer from the Apple store with my new desktop. I've had this printer for 14 months and the black ink no longer prints. HP tech offered me a reconditioned printer for $99.00 because the warranty is no longer in effect. Apple should reconsider selling products like this when the reviews indicate problems like this. Very unsatisfied with this HP product.

    terrible printer

    • Written by from Tairua

this is the noisiest slowest printer aI have ever known. It takes ages to think about what its going to do, then grinds out the pages before whirring and grinding its way back to sleep. Don't know what HP were thinking!

    5520 unreliable printer

    • Written by from ORACLE

Our HP 5520 printer stopped working today 15 months after it was purchased. The black cartridge stopped printing and none of the support advice on the HP site, all of which we tried repeatedly, has fixed the problem. The HP support site mentions the black printer cartridge problem over and over again on the 5520 series and on other series printers. Clearly it is an HP problem they have not addressed. The printer is cheap, but our landfills will be full of them.

    Too Many Paper Jams

    • Written by from Riverside

I have not printed one document successfully. Sometimes it only prints half the page and other times it prints nothing. It makes loud noises in the middle of the night and has way too many paper jams to be useful. It's cool that it's wireless however the wireless feature never works. Also it takes almost an hour to print a 3 page document. I wish I got a different printer this one is the worst printer I've ever had.

Worst printer ever...You get what you pay for....

    • Written by from Mountain View

I though this printer would be good since Apple recommended it. I was really excited by the low price! Delivery was great and set-up was easy BUT, the quality of the printouts is very low, it regularly jams when printing, it is loud, and sometimes the printer warms up or does something in the middle of the night and makes a HUGE sound for no apparent reason. It is too late for me to return it. I will try to get rid of it on eBay. I'll cope for now.

I have had this printer all of 3 weeks and already it doesn't print on paper. Great I'm so happy I brought a brand new printer because I thought my 10 year old printer needed to be updated. LMAO. Worst printer ever.

    Paper Jams - Stay Away

    • Written by from Ottawa

This printer is horrible! Install and set up was great and easy. But 80% of the pages jammed in the HP5520 printer. I had a frustrating 45 minutes with it and returned it that same day. I bought the Epson XP400 and it is very reliable... easy to set up and no paper jams yet.

HP printers and Macs don't seem to play nice together...

    • Written by from Winnipeg

I should be enjoying this product's features - AirPrint, beautiful colour, practically borderless printing, double-sided printing... the list goes on and on. But this printer is SLOW! The buffer fills up in no time (according to the print manager), meaning that a queue of 7 photos can take over an HOUR AND A HALF to print.

HP's best solution is to turn off the printer, unplug it, and wait 15 seconds before restarting to clear the cache. I'm forced to do that regularly and it barely makes a difference. I've tried loading the drivers from Apple instead of the ones on the disc - still nothing.

We had this problem with our previous HP printer, and we'd purchased the new one thinking it would be better but we were wrong. My only remaining option is to connect the printer directly to my computer, turning my laptop into a desktop unit. NOT HAPPY!!!
