My new primary set of headphones

    • Written by from New York

I usually don't write a review for a product unless it blows me away and the B&W P3 did just that. For the past 2 years I have commuted to work on the subway and everyday I have carried two pairs of headphones, one over-the-ear set of Sony's, and the in-ear Shure SE215. I used the Sony for comfort and when I wanted to hear more of my surroundings, I used the Shures when I wanted to enjoy crystal clear audio, and seal out the world.

Since I bought the P3, I have stopped carrying those other two headphones. The P3 has completely replaced those two great headphones. Why? Well, these not only sound amazing, clear, and punchy, but they block out enough of the outside world to let me tune out, and with the volume relatively low, they let it in too. They are VERY comfortable, the mic is in a great position for clear conversations, and the fact that they fold means they fit in a jacket pocket or in their rock solid case. Great buy. Don't even hesitate. BUY THEM!

    BUY BUY BUY!

    • Written by from Hays

If you are looking at purchasing a pair of headphones in the 200 dollar range, LOOK NO MORE! Seriously, click purchase. I tried the beats, I tried the Souls, I even tried some Senheisers (the runner ups), but ultimately they all fell down! Beats are just a sub box on your head, they are tight on your head to create the tight box to make the amplified bass, uncomfortable for any lengthy period of use, same with the souls but with a more balanced sound. Senheisers are the runner up in almost any model that I experienced, but ultimately the over ear design was to big, bulky and hot. These recreate sound perfectly! they are super light and comfortable for long long long wears! Plus, the fabric lets air in and your ears don't sweat. And last but not least, look at that design, look great alone, and look like they were designed for the iphone and macbook!

    Great Headphones

    • Written by from London

The most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. Out of the box they sound bass heavy and closed in. Play them really loud for a weekend and they loosen up and the imaging comes right in and blows you away. You can abuse them with impunity. There are reviews out there saying you should use Treble Booster. Don't. Just burn them in really hard. If your music is badly recorded then you should choose other headphones. These will reveal bad recordings horribly. I am so glad I bought these.

    Beautiful Sounding Headphones

This will not be a long review, but I wanted to gives these cans a good review because they deserve it. Incredible design, comfortable fit and warm, natural sound... For the price, you won't find a travel set that gives you all of this in one.

    Best Headphones I've ever used

These P3's replaced my Sennheiser HD-238 (which are still working great). The Sennheiser's have good sound, but the P3'3 are even better. The P3's are more powerful, have increased dynamic range with punchy bass when compared at the same volume level. P3's have a super clean, crispy range with bass balanced out nicely, so you'll definitely have moments of head-bobbing to the music...the only thing that irritates me about it, is when I get a txt or call- It interrupts my music! =) P3's are great for phone convo's too. People don't seem to complain about the background noise when I'm at the airport, and it's really noisy at the airport!
Beats by Dre have way too much midrange and heavy bass. I use the P3's with my iPhone4S, Macbook Pro 2009, and iPad2 both during travel, and at home. I'm a road warrior during the week for work and the P3's are not Noise Reduction, but do a great job of isolating the outside noise. They are so powerful and clear, that it's easy to miss that someone is trying to talk to you (just ask my wife). You won't regret buying these. I wanted the P5's, but decided I could live without NR.

Great sound, great comfort, quality product.

There are plenty of good sounding headphones out there, but one thing that I feel sets the Bowers & Wilkins P3 apart is the lightweight design and style. When I decided it was time to buy a pair of high-quality on-ear headphones and tried different models out at an Apple Store, one of the things I noticed was that many of the models that had great sound also had such a heavy bulky feel. These are extremely light and comfortable and still deliver very good true sound. I also like the unique style.

I had narrowed my search down to these and the Harman Kardon CLs, and actually bought the HKs, which ended up being so uncomfortable I couldn't wear them for longer than 20 minutes without a headache. I exchanged them for these and could not be happier. They are so comfortable, and the fabric on the earpads is really nice and breathable. It's nice to listen to music for hours without my ears feeling all sweaty and gross!

If you are looking for an extremely bass-heavy sound or complete sound isolation, there are better options. I like the more natural sound these have, and these do block out quite a bit of noise, just not 100%.

If I had to think of flaw, my only thought would be that on some songs with very deep/heavy distortion-laden guitars/bass it can sound a bit muffled. I've only noticed it on a few songs, and it's not enough to really bother me. 99% of what I've listened to sounds amazing. Vocals, piano and acoustic guitar really shine in particular, crisp and clear, like the instruments are close at hand and the singer is right in your ear. Complex electronic music is fun to listen to as well, you can hear all the little details very clearly.

I would definitely recommend these to anyone and feel like they are worth every penny I spent on them.

    Wow

After a few headphones, I'm yet to find any other perfect sound like this for its price. My brother and I both purchased headphones, him buying Beats By Dr. Dre Solo HD, and I purchased this. And all I can say is WOW. Balancing could't be done any better. Bass isn't too heavy, nor is it too weak. Pitch is perfect among all songs compared to the Solos. I find them extremely comfortable, and actually more confortable than ome that are even more expensive than the P3. I am a student who is an avid and constant listener who listens to multiple genres and I'll say, I couldn't find another pair of headphones that satisfied me any more. I highly recommend this to everyone, and I tell you this: you won't regret it. I'm sticking with these for a long time, and don't think I'll be switching to anything for a while.

The Ones: Bang for Buck, Comfort & Class!!

    • Written by from Cochrane

BEST headphones I've owned: optimal bang for buck; superb sound, design, comfort & class.

MUSIC means a lot to me. A multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter I constantly listen to music, work out regularly & use video professionally. Having tried many headphones over the years I'm amazed with these & extremely satisfied. Design is top-shelf, sound is superb, comfort is fantastic, & they're classy – I mean really nice!

SOUND: Compared with Dr. Dre Solo Beats they're actually quite similar; a little more broadly balanced in the mids & highs with just a touch less bass but barely noticeable. They do have great bottom though, which is integrated into a truly balanced, brilliant mix.

DESIGN/BUILD: Sooo sweet, genius design; quality components (except for the rinky-dink cord, which is the only neg in the package); folds up perfectly; super comfortable with great sound isolation for my ears; really light but seem much more durable than Beats which just don't stand up to heavy use over time.

FEATURES: It's all about sound & fit for me…the phone seems to work well enough (I use this feature only at the gym); case is a little bulky but very protective (I'm using a different carrying system now); not my original work-out choice as I want to preserve the life of these babies but can't seem to find durable earbuds that fit & sound great…besides, the sound is a spoiler & comfort is unmatched, at least for me, & the minimalist design is well suited.

BOTTOM LINE: Best $200 listening device you can get! Balancing superb sound, design, comfort, quality & portability – P3s are the optimal bang for the buck!
