Reviews for Logitech Bluetooth Wireless Solar Keyboard K760

As a critical consumer with a taste for quality, I often return gadgets for reasons of poor design or shoddy materials. I have a few of the Apple wireless bluetooth keyboards which are awesome (like most Apple hardware) for the compact form and sturdy build, but their short battery life causes headaches with the flashing "low battery" indications and frequent search for fresh cells. I decided to try this solar board, half expecting to encounter a poorly implemented connectivity process or an annoying, squishy plastic touch.

As it turns out, the K760 bluetooth setup went more smoothly than the Apple keyboards! I've tried both models back and forth to confirm this. The K760 also has an additional feature I hadn't expected; There are three hotkeys to switch between host devices (iPad/iPhone/Mac/etc), and it jumps between them in less than two seconds consistently. The K760 feels slightly different from the Apple wireless but more similar than in comparison to any other keyboard I've tried. The K760's keys depress slightly further; the touch is not quite as firm as the Apple but not by much; the clicking noise is a bit brighter and louder, but I'm being nit-picky with these criticisms.

I'm giving my  keyboards away and sticking to this one.

The only reason I'm subtracting a star is due to the easily scratched solar panel, but it's a cosmetic issue, not a functional one.

One nice touch relative to its larger sibling with the numeric keypad, is the addition of a caps lock LED...though the minor nit there is that it doesn't stay lit (could be a hardware defect).

Anyway, minus the scratches, this should be your keyboard. :D

I just got the Logitech k760 keyboard, and so far I am loving it. I have connected it to my MacBook Pro and iPhone 4s, it works great and is very easy to switch between devices. I can't wait to get an iPad to make my 3rd device on the keyboard (it connects with 3 devices and can easily switch by the press of a button.)

If this thing could pair with 4 devices, I could just have ONE and carry it around to pair with my Office PC, my home Mac, my iPad, and my iPhone.

As it is, I have two. BOTH are paired with my iPhone and iPad (and I can switch between them seamlessly). The third pairing is reserved for my desktop (either home or office). One is paired with my Mac Mini, the other with a Windows7 machine (THe Logitech FAQ pages says these things won't work with Window. I plugged in a bluetooth dongle that I get back in 2005 with my first mini, Windows 7 recognized it and let me pair with this think no problem: just remember that for Ctrl-Alt-Del, you need to hold down the "fn" key to get the Windows interpretation of Delete)

On the Mac, there should be a Logitech panel in your settings that will let you control whether the "fn" key needs to be used access the function keys (f1 - f12) or if the key needs to be help to get at the "controls" - like switching bluetooth devices, hitting they "home" key, "brightness", "volume", etc.

Haven't experienced the problem cited by the first reviewer after a restart, but I reboot my machine so infrequently, I can't rule out that the problem is there (just haven't really noticed one way or the other).

The previous posts cover this keyboard well. Overall i like the feel and it works fine with one deficiency that was a deal breaker for me. If you run bootcamp you can't boot to the pc side because the Bluetooth keys don't work until the computer is running. I have parallels as well but it doesn't run games efficiently so I (ok the kids) need to run windows occasionally.

Great idea, having solar panels and Bluetooth device selection, but the keys sit very loosely and rattle by themselves. With the loose keys, it makes the keyboard a challenge to use effectively as a touch typist and feels quite cheap.

If the keys felt more solid and responsive, this would be a great buy. Without, it's an idea that needs another iteration through the engineering department.

I'm typing this review on the logitech k760. Its a really great keyboard so far and I was using it right out of the box within less than a minute. It was very easy to set up and paired right away with my ipad2. Another added feature, is that when you use it with the remote app for Apple TV on the ipad, it works as a keyboard for searching things on the Apple TV! which is great, because who wants to sit there and type in one letter at a time on the stupid apple remote? Especially when you are a fast typist. The other good feature here is that you can switch between multiple devices. Plus it even works with the iphone too. My only complaint is that the keyboard is a little big to carry around, and though logitech offers another version that is smaller and paired with a case, the keyboard does not come out of the case, so that seems impractical to me. I would really love it if they would come out with a smaller version like the keyboard "cover" that they make, that is also solar... with its own separate case. I don't mind carrying around a separate keyboard since then I can use it at any angle that I want to, particularly on my lap while the ipad sits on a coffee table in its own case. It would be great if apple would modify its Apple TV software so that bluetooth keyboards could be attached to use instead of a remote. The solar feature of this keyboard is so great, that I'll probably keep it, even though it is a little big, because I hate the waste and inconvenience of batteries. The solar feature was the main thing that attracted me to this keyboard. I have enough things to charge already, so one less is a really good thing. Another thing that would be good is if the tab keys on this keyboard enabled you to switch between applications on the ipad. There is a "home button" that takes you to the home screen, but you still have to swipe and tap to open applications. The tab keys do work to fill out online forms though. Overall I can't really complain too much about this keyboard because the solar feature is a giant leap forward, since I have not seen anything else out there that does the same thing for ipad. It would be great if the ipad itself was solar!! and how about a solar iphone??? ;) The only reason I gave this keyboard 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is a little big to carry around.., if they made a smaller version, maybe even a foldable one? I'd give it 5++++ stars!!

My mac doesn't recognize this keyboard quickly at startup, waking from sleep, or after I leave for a few minutes and come back. I don't recall this problem with my old Apple wireless keyboard. Far more troublesome are the three function keys at the top, which, when you hit them accidentally during typing, will switch you between different bluetooth channels. I do this all the time, then lose my train of thought and have to figure out where I was. Eventually I brought out the hammer to this baby. Why not just hide these switches in a recessed area on the underside of the device instead?
