    Awesome!

    I dont know why this device received negative reviews!? This thing is awesome! I can turn on the lamps in my house from anywhere! Plus I can set the lamps on timer when needed. Never have to walk into a dark house again!

    Useful but expensive

    I need to replace some wireless switches that are starting to fail and this seems like the next better thing. However I have about 10 different devices which I would like to control and at $100.00 a shot, that's way too much $$. The WeMo works really well however and I like the simple App (in my case used with an iPhone) which allows a number of different ways to set it up. Just bring the price down and perhaps sell the "Switches" separately from the motion sensor and I may buy more.

    Handsome Disappointment

    Its connection is 3-prong (grounded) and it is 120v 15A. It adds 1.5" to the distance-from-wall of anything plugged into it as its receptacle is forward-facing. Its wide but if used in the top receptacle of a standard 2-receptacle outlet, you should still be able to use the bottom receptacle.
    Setup is atrocious. It's 802.11b/g 2.4GHz (not that this is printed anywhere); the MAC address printed on the back of the unit is misleading as it has 2 MAC addresses (1 setup only, 1 that is used post-setup -- the one on the label is the setup MAC address; add 1 to the last digit of that address & you get the real MAC address) and it will NOT work in a MAC-filtered environment.

    Works as advertised

    I have three of these in my home. Setup is simple and the devices are reliable. In one instance I have it turn on my yard lights at sunset (i use an ifttt.com trigger that computes my sunset time so i don't have to adjust weekly as the days get longer/shorter) and off a couple of hours later. Another turns on a heater in a child's bedroom shortly before her bedtime and then cycles the heater a few times during the night.

    I like the fingertip control I get with my iPhone/iPad as well as the easy editability of the rules.

    I can see why setup may be hard for some people -- the documentation is good but the setup process is not trivial yet (I'm an EE).

    They should also improve the boot up speed.

    However I like where this is going and I believe that Belkin has a real winner on their hands. I can see this category heating up with all kinds of I/O devices -- thermometers, cameras, dimmers, fan speed controls,... With ifttt and similar services or drag-drop programming, setting these up would be child's play and just as much fun!

    Can't even connect to my WiFi!

    It's been two days of reviewing all their help topics, blogs, videos, etc. trying everything imaginable and I still cannot connect to home wifi. Everything else, mac books, iphones, ipads, blue ray, all connect effortlessly to my wifi. This should not be this hard.

    I have an email in to support. If they don't provide fast help it's going to be returned.

    Great Product

    This product is truly amazing and works just the way it's supposed to. You just have to know what your doing. And saying a product is junk just because YOU can't get it to work properly is not fair. Did you ever think maybe the Internet in your house isn't working well? Or on your phone? Or your phone is not running the app properly? You can also change the sensitivity of your motion sensor to work the way you need it to. It just takes a little time and common sense. There are a lot of variables that can cause this product to not work the way you expect but most of the time it is NOT because of the product but because of the Internet connection or the router your using or the phone your using. Bottom line this product does perform properly and does make life more convenient

    JUNK!!!

    This product is JUNK!!!
    Worked great for a couple of days, now I can no longer access my Wemo switches from a remote locations. No configuration changes were made. Tech Support is useless at best.

    One Location Only

    The iPhone App will only work with one location (one Router). I try to set it up with my home and vacation home, failed. Otherwise, it's working really well.

    OK except IFTTT doesn't work reliably

    The Good:
    1. I haven't had a any problems with setup or operation on our home wifi.
    2. The WeMo app controls the switches both locally and via 4G.

    The Bad:
    1. WeMo app crashes pretty often on my iphone 5 - maybe 1 out of 5 times the app is opened.
    2. WeMo integration with IFTTT is pretty unreliable. I have a switch setup to turn on a lamp at dusk and then off at a set time. The on time can vary by 2 or 3 hours from day to day and same with the off time.
    3. Switch status has to be manually refreshed when viewing with the app to see the latest switch state.
    4. The motion sensor takes some moving around to get it to operate a switch like I wanted. For example, I put it in the TV room and set it up to turn off the lights when no one is in the room. Turns out you can't put it 10 ft away from the couch and have it detect any but large motions. Moving your head or an arm won't always be detected. It it is only a 3 or 4 feet away it will detect small motions that occur while being a zombie in front of the TV.

    Not ready for production

    This thing is, unfortunately, a piece of junk. IF, and I mean IF, you're able to get it to connect to your wifi at all it will intermittently lose the connection and completely never connect again until reset. This includes if you move plugs and thus power cycle it.

    The range of the device is terrible, it loses signal a mere 30 feet away from my Airport Extreme...at the same location my other devices show full signal strength.

    The application used to control and configure crashes regularly and requires you to intermittently reboot your iOS device to even get it to work at all.

    Once the device is configured, if you make it that far, it leaves a no-authentication required open wifi SSID published in your house PER device (one for the switch, one for the motion device, etc.)

    The idea is great. The execution is horrible. A huge disappointment. Returning it today after multiple days of mucking and false hope.

    Awesome product!

    This product is great. It works perfectly. I have my living room lamps plugged into it. They go on when I enter the room, and shut off 5 minutes after I leave. The sensor works perfectly. Not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about. Also, you can set it to only turn them on during certain hours so the lights aren't coming on during the day.

    Not ready for primetime

    The switch is OK, not a big deal anyways. The motion sensor is way out of scale. The sensitivity is far to high. I put it in a box, the box in a second box, still seeing motion. I am returning it. Waist of time! The packaging is nice, it deseves one star.
