After a short break-in period, these sound great. My pair was a little metallic sounding or tinny when I first got them, but that went away with a couple of hours of use. The volume control works well, and people I talk to on the phone say that the mike is at least adequate. My first set went bad in about 2 months -- the right side went quiet, just a very faint sound -- and RHA is replacing them. Be sure to keep your receipt, as the warranty is for 3 years and they seem to actually honor it! They come with many different sizes of ear seals and it is worth experimenting to get the best comfort and ambient sound attenuation.

I've owned probably 20 plus different brands and types of headphones from my first Ipod to my current Iphone. These are without a doubt superior in sound and construction to even my $300 Shure's.

Also one of the few brands where the remote has continued to work after a lot of use.

These are the best earbuds I have ever purchased. The sound is really good, the buttons on the mic are sufficiently differentiated (I hate to try to push "play" and hit "volume" because all the buttons feel totally the same) and best of all, they are actually comfortable!!! I have very small ear canals and the headphones come with numerous silicone buds that make these a great fit for most any size. Only complaint (and it is minor) is that the cord is much longer than normal (from tip to tip, almost 5 feet long) so it's more likely to get tangled.

I've bought many really expensive in-ear headphones, including Bowers & Wilkins. I was always disappointed in the sound quality based on the broad range of music I listen to. I bought these for $50 and was blown away. Handles bass very well and sounds great with acoustic tunes.

Don't hesitate to buy these. I'm glad I did!

Sounded really good, but failed after only 2 months

sounded really good out of the box. they seem to pick up and transfer to the ear a lot of noise (when the cable rubs agains your clothing for example). probably due to the fabric wrap on the cable. that makes these annoying unless sitting still. the fabric wore out at the base of the jack about a month after purchase. the left headphone failed after 2 months. for 50$ i expect to get more then 2 months of use.

Great product and excellent customer service

Picked it up in Barcelona last summer to replace other noise-isolating earphones, whose plastic cable tore off after about a year of fairly careful use. An Apple store employee recommended these (MA450) because the cable is fabric woven. The quality of sound is quite impressive, comes with a variety of ear tips to ensure good fit, the mic and controls work fine. After about 7 months of use, people started telling me that there is heavy echo when speaking with me, and it turned out to only be the case when I was using these earphones. Emailed RHA support, sent a copy of the Apple store receipt and received a brand new retail packaged replacement within days - no questions asked. Truly a great product at the right price backed by impressive customer service.

Great if you don't mind shutting out the world.

Earbuds hang in your ears and let you stay connected to the outside world. These in-ear headphones shut you right out. Which can be a good thing.

The headphones come with extra rubber covers, and the size makes all the difference. Too small and the earphones were really uncomfortable -- like someone was stabbing my eardrum. Too big and they wouldn't sit right and sounded weird. I liked the middle ones. Also, when they fit the scratching noise from the cord is less an issue. Sound is definitely better than the ipod buds, but they're a different animal.

The mic for the phone works pretty good too.

I bought these headphones for a month now and have not had any issues with them yet. The sound is very clean. Some headphones sound muffled or too bassy or too something, but in my opinion, i think these sound balanced. The bass isn't overly powerful, the mid and tweets i think are pretty clear. Like some other reviews have said, the tweets/highs are more distinct. I think thats great because some headphones lack tweets but give too much mid or bass. I'm a mechanic at an auto shop and when i put these in, i can still hear the things around me but they do quiet down a bit. I only need to use the volume on my iphone at 1/4 of the way and i will get a nice comfortable listening feel. I can hear the music, but at the same time, im not deaf to whats happening around me either. If i put the volume to 1/2, i cant hear anything around me anymore and the music becomes alive in my ears. Haven't listened to them at 3/4 but im sure it'll sound good. I listened to it with all sorts of genre, and in my opinion, it is great. One thing that can be worked on is the noise the line makes when rubbing against anything. If yo have the volume on low, the rubbing noise is super intense and loud in your ear, but if you go past the 1/4 volume on the iphone, the rubbing noise does go away. I use the 2nd biggest earpiece and it fits perfectly. I like the play/pause button, it works like magic. I say that because i use it to use Siri. I can just press and hold the play/pause button to ask Siri to read and send messges without even takeing out my phone, which is great because my hands are usually messy. I use it to listen to music when i sleep too and they do not hurt my ears at all when im laying on my side. Overall, great sound, great feel, very light weight and comfortable. Besides the noise issue if in low volumes, anyone who picks this up i believe will enjoy them for the price you pay. Dont forget the 3 year manufacture warranty that comes with it, tell me that isn't the darnest deal ever. That was the selling point for me because i use them a lot, not abuse, but use.

Good sound but bad build quality

After buying these headphones I was blown away with the quality of sound as well as the fit into my ear. Being a bit hard of hearing these were a welcome change from the ones that come with the phone. About a month out of warranty the left bud started shorting in and out. Now it is completely dead. Of course Apple will not replace them as they are out of warranty and I do not expect them to. But I would have expected better build quality or to at least last 6 months. I will be buying a different brand and won't be purchasing this one again.

They are as good as advertised. Actually better. I now have no problems as I did with Apple's earphones of them falling out every other second. They are definitely noise canceling which is nice when little children are in the area.

Love these bad boys, great sound, excellent on the move- not sure about the cord comments, sure there's a bit of a rustle but once the music gets going all you can hear is the song! Class act!

Great for iPhone, not for Macbook

These might be the best sounding earphones I've used with my iPhone 4, very clean, detailed sound. However, they don't work well at all with my Macbook Pro, there's a lot of hissing and static noise and they're too loud.

I did some Googling and found that these are low-impedance headphones, which means that they don't need a lot of power to sound good which is why they work so great with my iPhone, but Macbook Pros need a higher-impedance headphone for good sound.

I have a pair of over-ear Bose headphones that work great with the Macbook, I was hoping to have smaller ones for traveling but I guess I'll stick to using these with my iPhones and the larger ones with my Macbook.

    Good while they last

I've had these headphones for two months and they've worked great until last week when the right earbud just ceased to work. They're good while they last, but "long lasting" is not accurate. i assume other reviews are after a few days use, so please take this into consideration and buy some really nice ones, like the ones around 200-300 dollars.

Poor sound, poor design, Poor “noise canceling”.

The sound is among poorest of any head phones I've ever had. I run and I'm a huge consumer of the disposable one dollar amazon knock-offs. Most of those sound bad, but these RHAs are by far the worst.

They have to be IN your ear. Not in your ear like normal ear buds are in your ear. They actually have to be inside your ear. It's uncomfortable. But the good news is that they won't stay there very long. They fell out very frequently. Even pivoting my head between two monitors at work caused them to fall out at a rate of about once a minute. They come with an assortment of tips that increase in diameter. I wasn't able to find one that fit. I couldn't try them all because it is very difficult to change. When they are in your ear properly, it sounds like you are wearing ear plugs or you are under water. Hold your hands tightly over your ears and turn up your stereo uncomfortably loud...That's what these sound like. As others have mentioned, any movement of the cord caused a noisy disturbance.

Looking at the reviews most people love them. I don't get it. I guess me and my apparently misshapen ear holes will be returning these and purchasing something else.

Surprisingly good sound for a lower priced in-ear set. After breaking it in for about 2-3 days the bass is nice and pretty strong, clear and doesn't muddy up the rest of the spectrum. The trebles take some time to settle down but can still be a bit harsh at times but I've found out that the Comply Foam take care of this for the most part. The build quality of the housing, mic and cable are very good and have a premium feel to them. Despite being a braided cable there is no sign of kinking up or cracking but they can get tangled and the straight plug isn't really ideal.

    Outstanding product

I bought this not ever having even heard of RHA, so I was a bit wary. I must say it exceeded all of my expectations in terms of sound, usability, build quality, cord length, reliability, abundance of earpieces for all shapes and sizes, and overall design. I like it much better than the Apple in-ear that it replaced. There is a great deal less sub-sonic interference from the cloth cord than from the Apple's plastic cords (you're much less likely to hear the wires rubbing against your clothes).

The part where this fell a little bit short was the packaging. The "carrying case" is an amorphous little pouch that is not useful, and the generous supply of earpieces came in a flimsy box that becomes useless upon opening it. These are small insignificant inconveniences in the context of the overall quality, and I would definitely recommend this product for the price.

I thought in order to have noise-cancelling headphones I would need to invest in bulky, ugly Beats-style headphones. These are small and unobtrusive like the standard iPod headphones, except they really block out external noise and transmit solid, clear sound. They also have a volume adjuster on them which makes them unique for headphones of this size and style.

I also like the fabric cord-it feels distinctive when I'm blindly searching for them in my bottomless purse.

I do wish they were a little bit shorter-sometimes they get caught on things and get yanked out of my ear, and sometimes I think I hit the volume control and they get randomly really loud (but that's my problem).

All in all a great gift and great headphones for the money!
