    Complete waste of money

    • Written by from Zürich

Bought these headphones (black) one month ago for my iPhone 5S. After two weeks, the "volume down" button stopped working. Great when a loud song comes on and you're on your bike in the middle of traffic. Also, my iPhone keeps jumping out of my playlists with this product. Additionally, it routinely opens iPhone's camera, draining a lot of battery, and shooting pictures instead of adjusting the volume. Today finally, they made my iPhone call my last contact (my boss), without me doing anything - just sitting on the bike again. What a waste of money.

    Decent sound, not-so-great durability

    • Written by from Somerville

I've had these since January 2014, and I was mostly satisfied with them. I bought them after my third pair of Apple In-Ears fritzed out on me, so I didn't want to spend yet another $80. For $50 these did the trick for a while. The cord is really way too long for someone of my height (not short, but not tall ...), so I have to wrap the cord around my iPhone at least once before I put it in my pocket. Not a big deal, but kind of an annoyance till I got used to it.

I found the highs to be a little harsh until I replaced the rubber tips with squishy foam ones. I lost a bit of the isolation, but then I also lost the harshness and most of the thumping sound you get with isolating in-ears when you're walking or just breathing ... Overall, though, they sounded great for $50.

The only real issue is with the durability. In the middle of August, the left channel dropped out, and I'm just getting in contact with them now about a replacement. Hopefully RHA's reputation for good customer service is warranted (no pun intended).

First time of me using these I noticed that the left side is very faint, so I put the right side in my left ear and it was perfect. Don't know if I need to do something to correct this. Am thinking of going back to Apple Store for advice. If it wasn't for this I think they would be perfect. Found no instructions on how to use the microphone though.

    Good, but...

    • Written by from Hamilton

For whatever reason, I do go through headphones at an exceptionally high rate (once a year usually) With that said, up until today these have been great. I love that I can multitask between music and speaking. The sound quality is decent, remote is handy... It's an all-around decent set of head phones at not a terribly high cost.

But, not even a year into owning these, the right side head phone has completely stopped working and for that, I have to give these a lower rating.

Excellent product! Best value for money!

    • Written by from Leighton buzzard

Firstly, these headphones look good the design makes them look very high brow and stylish.

The remote and is very easy to use and at the perfect accessible place. It works perfectly with my iPhone for music control, as does the microphone for accepting calls.

This product comes with 7 ear-bud fittings which is fantastic because the selection will include a set comfortable for all ears. It also means you have spares which is a bonus. I've struggled in the past to find earphones that feel comfortable but now I have found the right size to rest in my ears comfortably. Although they are not specifically designed for it, I took these running and I was amazed that they did not fall out once which is a problem I have had with other headphones.

The carry bag is a nice add-on and the perfect size to fit in your pocket or bag.

The fabric braided cable was something I was not used to, but now much prefer to the traditional cable you find on most headphones. I no longer find myself constantly de-tangling my headphones and it feels far more secure and less likely to break.

Finally the sound quality is superb, it is clear and perfectly balanced for all types of music to be enjoyed to their full capacity.

I would recommend these headphones to anyone and can’t see myself going back to my old brand. The design features are excellent but they do not lack in top sound quality which is just as good as headphones twice the price of these. Brilliant value for money!

    Don't Waste Your Time

    • Written by from Zetland

As others have said these headphones don't deliver. The sound quality for music is quite good once you have the correct fit but I found spoken word/podcasts very tinny and just not sounding as they should.

As many have said the cable distorts whatever you're listening too whenever it touches anything which is completely unacceptable, and I also found changing the ear caps a nightmare and took me much longer than it should.

The best thing about these headphones sadly is Apple's awesome service and no questions asked return/exchange policy as you will need it.

    Terrible build

    • Written by from Cambridge

A lot of the reviewers seem to have the same experience but I wanted to echo my displeasure with these headphones. I bought them yesterday and will be returning them tomorrow.

    -Sound quality is really good
-I'm really not into the multi-sizes, find-your-fit silicone pieces but the ones it came pre-installed with actually fit me just fine

-Cable is a lot longer than necessary. 1.5m?
-If the cable rubs against anything (ANYTHING - even your shirt), the cable carries and even amplifies the sound in the earpieces. To the point that the sound of the friction is louder than your music. You basically have to stay completely still when using the headphones. Forget about walking or moving around while using them. Terrible build; who tested these and let them pass?

Probably the best sound you can get for $50

    • Written by from New York

Great Sound, good fit, great cable.
People who complain of "cable noise" should just choose a smaller ear tip so it's not that tight. It will happen in any in ears that are too tight.

    Good sound but that's all

    • Written by from Palo Alto

These are the most maddening headphones I've ever used. The cable rubs on your collar or other piece of clothing and it resonates directly to the earbuds causing extra noise that is amplified.
Nice selection of replacement ear buds but none of them stay in my ear. Never had that problem before.
Avoid these and stick with the regular Apple white earphones IMHO.

    I'll be returning them.

The sound quality was very good.

-Whenever the cord hit something, it seemed like that sound was transmitted quite loudly and was distracting while exercising.
-Those orange inserts in the rubber ear cushions are long and you feel them when you put the buds in your ears--that said, I didn't seem to notice it with use.

    Defective and unsafe

    • Written by from Bellingham

The right earbud of these delivers little "static shocks" to my ear each time I use these and it is painful and annoying. The Apple Store wouldn't refund or help me out. I thought I was getting a quality product by shopping at the Apple Store, but I was clearly wrong.

The best earbuds I have owned!

    • Written by from Poway

My husband uses Bose earbuds and I had Sony - these earbuds are superior and cost less! When I went into our local Apple store they were more than helpful! The salesperson took me to the internet to read all the reviews of every earbud that I selected as of interest. He was not as familiar with RHA as the others from Bose, Bowers & Wilkins to Beats Tour etc...... After reading the reviews with him - RHA had a pretty good rating. Well I wanted to add to their rating and give this great earbud a 5 star! I love the fit in my ear and the sound quality is fantastic! So far so great!

    Save your Money

    • Written by from Conover

These are the WORST earbuds I have ever owned. I loved my Apple earbuds and gave them to my Dad, I thought since these were on their web page and cost more must be better. Total trash, you can hear your heart beat and every simple touch or even movement on your shirt of the wire is heard in you ears. I would rather have Audiobox (laughable ) than this.
I just got them last night and all I want is my money back. By the way GOOD luck trying your patience to change the ear sizes.
All in all. ZERO product, I'm disappointed in Apple to have it on their web page. That's the only reason I bought it. I have been thrilled with EVERYTHING I have bought from Apple. I have a Mac book pro and a mini iPad, bought all of my friends and family apple earbuds for Christmas because they rock. My dad wanted mine so I gave them to him then bought these thinking well on apple page cost more must be great. wRONG!
Save your money ----- just trash. Really disappointed in Apple for even approving of this poor quality product. Yea I'm out 70 or so bucks, now I know just cause it's on apples page.
Doesn't mean a thing. Just another product at your own risk.

Good sound, disappointed in the quality

    • Written by

Bought these in the spring, after using them for a bit I was happy with the sound quality. After about 3 months of use with them the right earbud stopped working. Thankfully there is the 3 year warranty so RHA sent me a new pair. About 2 months later both earbuds stopped working. Even though there is a 3 year warranty, getting them replaced every 3 months is a hassle.

Just a warning for anyone considering buying these.

    RHA MA450i headphones

    • Written by from Ottawa

These headphones we're actually pretty good at first. The price is exceptionally high for these, because there are a huge number of headphones better than these. They lasted about two months until the cord where the mic is died. I do not recommend buying these, just stick to cheaper headphones as these are probably worth 15-20$ rather than 50$. I hope you find this useful, because if i read this before i bought them, i could have saved so much money.

Ok sound, cord wore out in 4 months

    • Written by from Toronto

The sound and remote function on these earbuds are acceptable for the price, but the cord wore out at the plug easily (killing audio in one ear). Trying to get a replacement from the manufacturer, but not holding my breath. Sick of spending $10/mo on headphones...

    Fulfilled my expectations

    • Written by from Waseca

RHA's MA450i noise isolating earphones generally meet my needs and expectations. These in-ear headphones block a good majority of the surrounding noise. I've used them on stage, in the office, and even mowing the lawn. They are highly portable and easy to have always with you. They lost one star from my rating as the pair I owned ended up with a loose connection in the right ear. However, much to RHA's customer service credit, I submitted my warranty request and was issued another pair within days. For $50, I haven't found a better pair of noise isolation earphones around.

Terrible sound quality. Exchanging for Apple Earphones!

    • Written by from Singapore

I just received my RHA MA450i and was shocked at the poor quality of the sound. I immediately compared it with my Apple EarPods and the difference was so great I had to wonder how the reviewers who raved about the RHA came about their positive rating!

I listen to audiobooks daily and like a crisp sound to capture the various tones and timbre of the narrator. I'd assume a classical music lover would be even more demanding. The sound quality of the RHA is so "woolly" and muffled, I couldn't pick up the tonal nuances of the narrator. I am extremely surprised how bad it is compared to my Apple Earpods which are cheaper (Apple: $29 vs RHA: $49.95). Like most people who listen to music or audiobooks on the go, we have backup ear phones and while very happy with my EarPods, thought I'd try a different brand based on the reviews here. Boy, do I regret following them!

I called my local Apple store to ask to exchange it for the Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic $118 but it's closed for the day. Hopefully I can get they will deliver the new ones and take back the RHA! Seriously, don't waste your money over this one. The Apple EarPod and almost half the price gives you three times the sound quality.

    excellent sound, well built

    • Written by from Boulder

Earbuds are one of those purchases that I usually assume I'll be back to do again within a year. Either they break, get lost or I just get "bud envy" and want something else. Not with these. I've had mine for almost two years and they're still in great shape despite daily use and I'm not enviously eyeing something else. Great sound, built to last, comfortable. And a very reasonable price, especially for the quality.
