Do you like cracking, crackling and unintended delay!

Waste of money, well unless you're after tons of unintentional crackling, cracking and weird delay.

interface issues with mavericks and logic10.0.5 updates

    • Written by from north vancouver

just bought this one as the logic x update caused all kinds of issues with my m-audio interface, but same problem, can not hear any tracks through the interface while recording or during play back. All problems started with mavericks update and grew with the last logic 10.0.5 update.Nothing compatible all the way through and now i can not record any audio.I had no issues with mountain lion or any other version since 2009,so i hope apple fixes it immediately as all problems started with these last few updates.Very upset with the updates, wish i had not done them!and may look at other companies products.

Do not buy this if you intend to use this with a mac

    • Written by from AUCKLAND

I have owned one of these for 6 months, works awesome with a windows computer, as for a mac it's a different story. The driver 'updates' for mac are not up to date at all which makes me wonder why mac is endorsing this product to work with mac. Straight up it does not work with Mavericks 10.9 and above etc. Glitching, complete audio dropouts and to my understanding until Focusrite have made new drivers for the latest mac platforms I can't see a fix in the horizon.
    DISAPPOINTED.

    A Questionable Option

    • Written by from Old Bridge

Mine arrived with a faulty headphone input, creating noise every time I moved the cable even slightly. Additionally, the headphone volume control was very stiff and small, making it difficult to adjust. Finally, beware, there is NO on/off switch for this device. This meant a loud clunk every time the computer was turned on or off. I'm using a 27 inch iMac (3.4Ghz i7 with 12 GB of ram.) My OSX software is current. I used the Focusrite as a general purpose audio interface and with Logic Pro for voice recording, usually with ribbon mics, so I appreciated the phantom power option. The Focusrite fed my desktop Event 20/20's as well as my Sennheiser HD 650's. The latter were almost unusable due to the faulty input. Ultimately, I decided to change out the Focusrite Scarlett in favour of the QUAD-Capture from Roland, an interface that delivers 24-bit/192kHz conversion.

Worked great on Lion 10.7, but no longer with Mountain Lion 10.8

    • Written by from Cowes

Such a lovely piece of kit that worked great for me until I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Now there are endless issues.... Sadly I cant "go back" to Lion for software reasons, so am stuck. Focusrite Support have tried to be helpful, but ultimately, there is nothing they can do. So right now, as of this review date. I would AVOID if you're on 10.8.

NB. To be fair, it does say on the Apple site that its only compatible up to 10.7. But of cause, this is not something you're aware of when you hit upgrade. I just presumed that an international company such as Focusrite, would make sure their kit work on the latest Mac Software... I mean, why wouldn't they? Just crazy...! Especially when Apple sell it in their stores.

PS. Works great on my Windows machine, God Bless Microsoft!

    Do not buy this box.

This interface has issues with clipping audio. The guitar input has trouble handling the direct input from electric guitars and basses. It just clips. Also, if you are planning to have anything loud come in through a mic that doesn't have a pad built in, it will also clip. This is not just my user experience. For more user complaints re: this issue go look up sound on sound magazine and type 2i2 clipping in the search.
