    Best Headphone in its Class

I consider myself as an audiophile and I'm very particular about every aspect of sound quality.
So overall these headphones deliver good lows, strong mids, and excellent highs. I did find myself looking at equalizer apps to make a well balanced sound because although they sound good out of the box if you take the time to make a good equalizer setting for them it will make a big difference because when I made my own customized setting the headphones really do shine. The app i used to make my equalizer settings was called SuperLoud and its in the app store for about $10 and don't back away because of the price believe me it would be the best $10 app you've ever bought promise. My only concern is for people who wear glasses like myself they do pinch the sides of your head after a good 4 - 5 hrs of using them, other wise I have no more complains about them and I would recommend them to a friend.

Harman Kardon Classic Headphones: OK with glasses

    • Written by from Toronto

Having read as many reviews as I could find and knowing there has been some concern about some discomfort when wearing these headphones with glasses, I tested them in store along with the B&W P3s and some other sets.

Other reviews of the P3s are spot on: they sound good and are comfortable, but compared to the HK Classics, their sound is definitely muddled and not as sharp. I really like the B&W C5 earbuds, but I found the P3s lacking somehow.

The Harman Kardon Classics give a crisp, full sound, with just enough bass.

Re: comfort: At first, using the "small" metal band that came attached to the set, there was some discomfort behind my ears (I wear Ørgreen glasses; titanium and very thin, yet there was still noticeable pinching). When I switched to the larger band, I found I could slide the cups a bit further down so they don't pinch the tops of my ears as much. They still provide full coverage of my ears and they fit more comfortably. The downside is that the large band is a bit too big, ideally, for my head. Not too bad, but there is some slippage.

I'll test it out for another week and give an update. If I get used to them over time, I foresee bumping the rating up to a 5; the sound is great!

First off, I’m not an audiophile: I just love listening to music. I don’t know about highs and lows, and what a balanced sound is. I also haven’t tried all of the other brands. But l need my music to sound great during my morning and my afternoon commute. From the first moment I put these headphones on, I fell in love with how my music sounded. There’s obviously a trade-off between in-ear and over ear but surprisingly, my music sounded so much better.

One special thing about these headphones is obviously its design: rather than one headband, there’s two. I don’t know about other headphones, but I have never felt uncomfortable wearing the CL’s. The fact that the headband adjusts automatically to the person's head is for me a very good pro: I never have to play around with the size. One big thing I advise everyone if you buy these headphones, change the band to the larger one immediately. Unless you have a small head, the smaller band provides too much pressure to your head and for someone wearing glasses it just makes it downright uncomfortable to wear for more than 15 minutes. As a lot of people noted, the earcups get pretty hot if you wear the headphones for a long time. But let’s not forget, this is normal since its leather. Finally, if you’re looking for a complete noise isolating headphone, look elsewhere. That being said, for me anyways, it provides the right amount of noise isolation. It’s enough for me to block out everyone on my everyday metro ride but not enough for me to miss my stop if I’m reading a book.

That being said, this is one of my best purchases and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy these headphones again.

I used them to do my snow blowing and mowing, needless to say they drowned out all t hr machine noise and gave me pure sound. I would recommend these in a heartbeat. The rectangle design is unique but works very well. Hope you consider them!

I made my way to the local Apple Store last weekend because I had to compare the Harman Kardon Classic On-Ear Headphones against the Bowers & Wilkins P3 On-Ear Headphones. The B&W'a were amazing, but the looks of the HK's won me over. Their performance were on par wiht the more expensive P5s, but again the all metal look and exchangable headband were too good to pass up.

    Overall good

So i got these on a whim. I wanted some new headphones that had good portability and good sound and was $200 or under. I tried the B&W p3's many times in store and i really tried to like them but i just couldn't. Sound was way to muffled and just overall sounded bad for the price. Disappointing since I love the p5's. They didnt have these on display but decided to get them anyways.

At first i didn't like this sound but i've come accustomed to it. I really like it now. It provides a nice rich sound that is never harsh or sibilant.

When i first heard them i wasn't blown away. Sound was muffled compared to my aviators which are great for rock. These are okay for rock. The bass is really nice. It is definitely there but doesn't thump annoyingly and extends real low making a really rich sounding bass. The mids are nice and smooth and non fatiguing. The highs are rolled off.

The soundstage is also bigger than i expected. It was bigger than my SK Aviators. Not amazing but not bad at all.

The noise isolation is also pretty good. Works well for me when walking around or in a restaurant or something but on the bus i had to crank it up a bit.

The headphones are built well from what i can tell and the cable is nice and thick.

The headphones fold flat but they dont fold up. The case provided is a bit big but i really like it anyways.

Overall i like these headphones and will be keeping them.

    Harman Kardon Classic On-Ear Headphones

I just got these pair of headphone this afternoon. I feel it sounds best when explaining classic guitar ...like country music. I feel I'm in the little concert when I'm listening. The sound was surrounding my ears, close and clear, deep and soft. The bass is gentel and low. But they aren't sound like rock music beeps. It might sound tiny bit jarring in high hertz music part..(It could depends on controlling volume.) I really like to listen to hip-hop, pop, country music with these pair of headphone. i feel it basically has organic and classic feeling..I think most of people could handle this sound quality and like it..and personally this one is better than the one called " The monster...inspiration..." the price was 299.95...Price doesn't decide the sound quality. I highly recommend this, who is not a musician or major in any music area.

Great headphones, very revealing, I've had access to and owned 50,000 dollar systems in my home and these reveal a great deal of the detail I heard at home. No they are not perfect and are limited by the source (iPod, iPad, iPhone etc...) but for the money you can't go wrong. I downloaded some great audiophile recordings from Chesky and Sheffield and I am not disappointed, I am particularly impressed with there ability to recreate cymbals as most digital setups cause cymbals to sound more static these actually seem to fade more realistically. And the different cymbals are evident. The one drawback seems to be depth but that's to be expected with headphones

Great Sound, a little uncomfortable till you switch out the headband

I can honestly say I got these cause I love the Harmon system in my car and I figured how could they go wrong with a pair of headphones. Well they didnt, these things rock. From the bassy lows to the pitchy highs they sound great. I love jamming out and drowning out the whole world. They fold flat and look slick.

My only compliant is the metal band will most likely need swapped out as it is a little small and makes they headphones sit on the head a little tight. They supply you with more bands in the package so no worries otherwise I might have only given them 4 stars...

    Rock out people

Best Over-the-ear wireless headset one the market

I tried them all. Beats wireless, beats studio, Soul, etc. The sound is better than beats and the price lower than any of its competitors. they are comfortable and battery lasts long. The only issue is some connectivity issues at first, but now it seems that everything is synced.

these are amazing headphones, but they are extremely uncomfortable if you were glasses. This is because of their pinching force on top of the ear. they are very comfortable if you don't were glasses. sound quality really good, a little shy on treble, but much better than the P3. decent noise isolation.

    Uncomfortable Fit

    • Written by from Halifax

A few days ago when I had brought these home from the Apple Store and tried them on, I was instantly pleased with their sound quality, but then I started to notice how tightly they were pressed up against my ears and started to get a headache. Remembering they came with a larger headband, I changed it and put them back on my head with great difficulty--I had to fidget with them profusely to position them properly on my ears. When I finally got them on comfortably, I noticed the bass wasn't as prominent, yet it was still pretty ample, and there was a lot more space in the song I was listening to, so it worked out pretty well.

But then after I stood up from my bed, and I had the same issue as before: I was struggling to reposition them so they could fit comfortably upon my ears, so as you can imagine, that was pretty frustrating. I still, however, wear them day-to-day trying to give them a chance, but walking with them on is brutal, so I'm more than likely going to return them tomorrow and buy a more comfortable pair. But if it weren't for their poor fit on my, what I'd call normal-sized head, I would give them a solid five stars for their sound and build quality for the price.

Appearance: It looks very modern. People stop me in airports asking about my headset.

    Amazing Sound!

After sampling a number of headphone models, the Harman Kardon provided the best sound quality and range for under $500. While I can also understand the market's demand for a Bluetooth option, I would advise that you go with the wired set for trouble free playback. Save the additional $50, and buy some more music to listen to. The headset's construction is topnotch, light, and can be worn comfortably for hours. One last word of advice... poorly sampled music, for the sake of saving space, will NOT provide an enjoyable listening experience; regardless of the headphones.

Awesome headphones! They are super comfortable, have great sound, and have a
study, quality feel. I like that the headband can be interchanged so that I can make
sure the headphones fit my head properly (it is always frustrating when headphones
don't fit snugly!). The leather earcups are also a nice touch as it makes them more
comfortable to wear for extended periods (I use them at work so pretty much 4 hours
plus use at a time). Con is the initial set‐up ‐‐ took some work to understand the
replacable headband ‐‐ other than that, no other complaints... very happy with the
    purchase.

Impressively clear-sounding headphones. I give the phones a 5 star rating on frequency response -- they can handle anything you throw at it -- Rap, Jazz, House, doesn't matter. I think the included carrying case is an added benefit, but looks kind of cheap. At the end of the day, however, its all about the sound. These headphones cut it and at an affordable price point. A fully positive rating.

Crisp, Clear & Comfortable. The only negative feedback I got Before I bought these headphones were that 1. they didn't handle base as clearly as Beats or Monster 2. they're a little uncomfortable--I disagree. These headphones sound nice right out the box with no tweaking to the EQ, I love my base and I find the sound to be absolutely amazing. Very comfortable, comes in 2 sizes. Also comes with a nice case and folds easily. Very stylish & unique looking; fits well with Apple products. Mic works well too <3 it!!

I bought these for my iPad and iPhone 4s after doing a few hours worth of research. I was not disappointed. This was harman/kardon's debut into the headphone market, and they definitely got this one right. The headphones are comfortable, sound amazing on the low-end, mid-range, and high-end frequencies. The bass is great, but not obnoxious like with some other headphones on the market right now.

The inline controls (play, pause, etc), built-in mic, and carrying pouch were nice touches. Overall, it's a great product for the price and I prefer these CL headphones to many other more bulky studio headphones that I have tested in the past. H/K also made a very wise decision to include 2 headbands of different sizes which can be swapped for maximum comfort and convenience.

Overall: very satisfied, would recommend these to anyone.

The last time I bought a good set of headphones was 20 years ago, so it was a difficult choice and involved a lot of research. I'm really happy with the HK Classic.

Out of the box, the headband that was installed turned out to be a little tight, but the larger headband that's included was easy to install and is a perfect fit with no discomfort even after wearing for hours. It doesn't matter how good a pair of headphones sound, if they're uncomfortable it ruins the experience.

The build quality on these headphones is pretty amazing. These are iPhone 5 level of quality.

As other posters have mentioned, the treble rolls off a bit so I set the equalizer on my iPhone to Treble Boost. This helped a lot.

I will use these for Skype business meetings as well as regular audio listening. The sound isolation is great for phone conversations.

So now the HK is my first choice as a Christmas gift for my kids.
