    Blue HR can be Temperamental

(Cris) from wahoo fitness support recommends right out of box that you open the back remove the battery check the voltage it should be 3 volts these are factory installed and could have sat on the shelf for awhile replace make note of date of new battery. Mine worked great for first 2-3 months then all of a sudden stop working. (Cris) Try resetting the BlueHR. To do this, remove the battery, turn the battery around (upside down) and use it to touch the positive and negative contacts together for 1-2 seconds. This drains off the capacitors and allows the sensor to reset. Make sure the battery door gasket is in place before closing the battery door.
Any other issues contact Wahoo support.

It's somewhat hard to pair up, but once you do (using 4S here), it get's stuck on whatever reading happens to pops up and won't change with your heartbeat. Typically for my unit, a whopping 255 beats per minute. No amount of sweat, moisture, new battery, blah blah blah will make it change. I got this thing to work exactly once, don't ask me how I did or what I could do to repeat it. Pure waste of money and as other's have posted, instructions or real help are not available. Don't waste your money.

I got one of these last year to monitor my heart rate during running. It was very easy to pair and operate. I almost always use it with RunKeeper app, but also with the wahoo app. I haven't had any problems, it's been almost a year now. You do have to put some water or gel on the pads in contact with your skin for them to work properly, but I expected that. Once you start sweating you don't have to worry about this.

Have had zero issues, but only had it for 3 weeks. It was a piece of cake to set up, and switches from one type of workout to another very easily. Very motivating, but wish they had a graphical representation of progress.

I love the wahoo fitness chest strap. It is very motivating to see the graphed results and I like that you can choose your own app (i use iBiker). It is easy to use, pairs quickly, and is very comfortable to wear. Mine has been very reliable and I've used it every work out for the past month (about 5 or 6 times per week). The only downside is that if I were to gain weight, the chest strap wouldn't fit or it would be too tight. I would not recommend it for a chest bigger than 43 inches.

Love the monitor but my MAJOR grievance is that nowhere in the documentation does it mention that you MUST BE WEARING IT TO PAIR IT with your phone. So, be advised.

Bought it -loved it then it went dead - changed battery still no go - a diagnostic would be nice - they were going to replace it then i got a brainstorm - try my wifes phone - it worked fine - so i reinstalled the app and it was fine -- upgraded to new ios - dead - reinstalled app works fine. love the zones and the large display while treadmilling - would love to merge with nike app somehow - also a shoe clip sensor for treadmill would be nice too

    Connection Issues

I used the unit for about 2 weeks, and I could not get it to connect. I completed my run, and it never did connect. I replaced the battery, still no connect. I turned off my iPhone 4s and back on, and it connected immediately. Polar's app has a battery level indicator, and after 8 workouts (30 min to 4 hours), it says my new battery is at 53%.

Once the phone connects with the HR Strap all you do is start the program (I use ismoothrun) and it justs connects on it's own. If you are using older BT technology this may not work, but for 4S users it works flawlessly!

I bought this a few months ago to help with my triathlon training. Heart rate monitoring is kind of key. While the device worked well at the beginning, it won't consistently connect with my iPhone. I've wasted hours trying to get it to connect before a run or bike ride. I've tried every online suggestion for dealing with the problem but nothing seems to work. At this point I'm ready to give up on the strap.

You have to install the Wahoo Utility to your phone and set it up that way. Also don't try to set it up without wearing it. You have to be wearing it!

No problems at all, love this product and that it works with my running app that I use daily. The app UI isn't so user friendly but that's a separate review...

Yesterday it worked, today it doesn't - the Wahoo app cannot detect the sensor, no matter how much I lick at the sensors or do jumping jacks or any other of the slightly demeaning activities Wahoo tell us to do in order to beg for the thing to work. It should just work and it doesn't. The first one I bought didn't work at all. The second one has worked for A DAY and now it doesn't either, meaning another trip back to the apple store.

Very handy gadget for checking your "zones"

One of the only Bluetooth Smart heart rate monitors on the market today. Uses a replaceable watch battery. I've used it on a few 5+ hour long bike rides with consistent readings. I've noticed a glitch with pairing once or twice, although it's not clear whether it's the sensor or iPhone at fault, and it's rare. Seems to be fine after a reset. The strap can be washed. It wakes up right away, and the pads don't even have to be pre-wet as suggested in the manual. Works great with the Cyclemeter app. Adjustable and fits snugly but not too tightly over a big chest like mine. A must-have for running and cycling.
