    Does exactly what it says

If you are looking for an heart rate monitor and own a 4S, look no further. This product has so far performed exactly as I wanted it to. It worked well outdoors with my phone in my pocket, worked well indoors on the treadmill, pretty much everywhere. I also use bluetooth headphones and there was no issue. Finally a product that says it is going to do something and actually does it. Price isn't bad either, doubt you will find something better for less. The washable strap is also great. Easy on and off. If you love to track your fitness, this is a great tool.

Wahoo Fitness Blue HR is AWESOME! I use Nike+ GPS app and needed HRM to help maintain my zones. Using Wahoo Fitness app I run with both apps running. Setup Wahoo Fitness triggers at different intervals and Nike+ GPS every mile. Now I have all the info I need. Upload to Runkeeper.com for HR and Nikeplus.com for runs. Blue HR works perfectly with iPhone 4S. Only ONE device for HR monitor, GPS maps, Music playlists, and phone... AWESOME!!!

I wanted to track my heart rate during workouts. I have used Polar products in the past, and was satisfied. Being able to use this with my iPhone 4s over Bluetooth, a plus.

I was worried it would drain my iPhone battery more than normal, but I couldn't tell the difference with it on or off after a 8+ hour workout. I love how light it is. It says the unit is water proof. I can't wait to try it swimming, just make sure your phone is waterproof too. I'm glad my local Apple store had it in stock. It was a choice between Apple or REI.

I don't know how battery life for the unit is, but have tested it for some 24+ hours of workouts, and still tracking strong. The battery is user replaceable. It is a CR2032 lithium battery that cost a couple of dollars.

You have to install the Wahoo Utility to your phone and set it up that way. Also don't try to set it up without wearing it. You have to be wearing it!

No problems at all, love this product and that it works with my running app that I use daily. The app UI isn't so user friendly but that's a separate review...

    Doesn't reliably work.

I bought this a few months ago to help with my triathlon training. Heart rate monitoring is kind of key. While the device worked well at the beginning, it won't consistently connect with my iPhone. I've wasted hours trying to get it to connect before a run or bike ride. I've tried every online suggestion for dealing with the problem but nothing seems to work. At this point I'm ready to give up on the strap.

Once the phone connects with the HR Strap all you do is start the program (I use ismoothrun) and it justs connects on it's own. If you are using older BT technology this may not work, but for 4S users it works flawlessly!

I have used the Wahoo Blue HR for 40+ mountain bike rides linked to my iPhone 4S via RunKeeper, Wahoo's Fitness App and Strava - works perfect with all of them! No issues. My favorite is Wahoo's app (best display for HR, distance, time) which has an easy in-app export function to sync ride data (including HR, track, etc) to RunKeeper and Strava.

You have to be wearing it to pair it!!

Love the monitor but my MAJOR grievance is that nowhere in the documentation does it mention that you MUST BE WEARING IT TO PAIR IT with your phone. So, be advised.

This was a great HRM, way better that my garmin and polar HRM's previously. Hooked up to a multitude of iPhone apps without a problem, mostly MapMyFitness. 11 weeks later, it just stopped working. I put a new battery in it, ran through the troubleshooting, and tried other apps to no avail. Hopefully support will exchange it, though on the Wahoo site they state that no returns from third parties will be accepted, as does Apple's, which seem very convenient for both of them. Crossing my fingers!

I'm quite pleased with this product. Have only used it with one app (endomondo) and now have a record of HR at each moment of my bike rides. This is an excellent tool and will allow me to track HR while ditching the wrist display of my finicky prior HR monitor.

Yesterday it worked, today it doesn't - the Wahoo app cannot detect the sensor, no matter how much I lick at the sensors or do jumping jacks or any other of the slightly demeaning activities Wahoo tell us to do in order to beg for the thing to work. It should just work and it doesn't. The first one I bought didn't work at all. The second one has worked for A DAY and now it doesn't either, meaning another trip back to the apple store.

I am on second unit. The first one never worked and the second worked for a week then quit. New batteries and/or new PDA didnt resolve the disconnect and Wahoo was unsupportive. When they work they are great but you will be out a lot of money as Wahoo thinks they are disposable.

Received one of these for fathers day, it has worked excellent. Only one flaw that I have noted so far. The App gps maximum speed has been indicating that I am traveling over 300 mph. I think the decimal point is falling in the wrong spot.

I use the strap to track my heart rate using Cyclemeter on my 4S while on my rides. It's been rock solid so far, and provides excellent information for me to track my heart health. I have no complaints!

Very handy gadget for checking your "zones"

One of the only Bluetooth Smart heart rate monitors on the market today. Uses a replaceable watch battery. I've used it on a few 5+ hour long bike rides with consistent readings. I've noticed a glitch with pairing once or twice, although it's not clear whether it's the sensor or iPhone at fault, and it's rare. Seems to be fine after a reset. The strap can be washed. It wakes up right away, and the pads don't even have to be pre-wet as suggested in the manual. Works great with the Cyclemeter app. Adjustable and fits snugly but not too tightly over a big chest like mine. A must-have for running and cycling.

I love the wahoo fitness chest strap. It is very motivating to see the graphed results and I like that you can choose your own app (i use iBiker). It is easy to use, pairs quickly, and is very comfortable to wear. Mine has been very reliable and I've used it every work out for the past month (about 5 or 6 times per week). The only downside is that if I were to gain weight, the chest strap wouldn't fit or it would be too tight. I would not recommend it for a chest bigger than 43 inches.

    It pairs just fine..

This heart rate monitor works really well, and pairs just fine with any app that supports it. Try the Wahoo utility to verify it's working. You do NOT pair bluetooth "smart" devices like a normal headset in the General / Bluetooth page. They are only configured within the app itself. It will not show up in any capacity under General / Bluetooth, even when connected. It's like this with "Find my car smart" Bluetooth 4.0 device as well. Install the Wahoo app, or any certified app that works with this strap, and it pairs fine. You don't need to use gel on the sensors either, just a tiny bit of water. Mine worked out of the box, was up and going within 2 minutes of opening the package.

The Wahoo Fitness Blue HR is perfect! I took the device out of the box, launched Runkeeper, paired the device and I was off running in minutes!

The device seems to be precise (compared with my previous Polar watch).

Just be sure to have an iPhone 4S as it is only compatible with the new Bluetooth Smart technology.

Does what it says it does!!

Just purchased the Wahoo HR Monitor for iPhone 4s, and have only been using it for a couple days. So far, it seems to do exactly what it says. It was easy to use right out of the box. Easy and quick to pair, and was up and running in just a couple of minutes. I have turned everything off and on a couple of times, and it seems to Pair and Wake Up easily and quickly each time.

I would have given 5 stars except for two reasons:

    - I am not sure how entirely accurate this HR Monitor is, but unfortunately, I do not have anything to compare it to. Before I started my workout, it was reading my HR between High 80s and Mid 90s, which is certainly higher then normal for even me. Now, my HR tends to be a bit higher, and I use a Rescue Inhaler before exercising which can tend to race the Heart a bit, so this can be the reason. I do have to say that I manually counted my Heart Beats from the wrist against a stopwatch twice, and I came up with a HR that was pretty right on to the Wahoo HR Monitor, so it very well may be accurate.

    - I also feel as though this HR Monitor is over priced. There are some very nice HR Monitors out there that give you the Device and Strap for about $60, so $80 just for a strap?? Nevertheless, I knew this when I purchased it. I guess the convenience of using my phone mixed with getting an Apple backed product makes it all worth it. We pay for overpriced Apple products, well because…their Apple.
