    Multiple Broken Pairs

    • Written by from New York

I got these to replace my beloved Apple Earbuds which I would love, until they'd stop working after 6 months or so. I know headphones don't last forever, but at twice the price of Apple Earbuds, I was hoping they'd at least last a year. Well, my first set lost hearing in the left earbud after 4 months. They were under warranty so I asked for a replacement (which they did not make easy since I bought it through Apple), but they did replace them about 2 months later. The new set lost hearing in one of the earphones after a mere 3 months. I'm done. I thought the sound quality was excellent but clearly an unreliable product. It's possible I just got two bad examples, but I'm not going to try again.

    Best workout headphones

    • Written by from Belleville

As a larger runner who sweats copiously, these are the only headphones that have stayed in my ears for more than 1 city block. Apple EarPods (iPhone 5) and In-Ear headphones have never stayed in my ears, even for just walking around the house. Medis PLUS's open air design helps you stay aware of your surroundings by letting in some ambient sound and if you get the cords caught on something, they pop out of your ear with no trauma. Not the most perfect sound production, but they're loud enough to rock out while you work out. Excellent value when cross-shopping with similar designs. Only major fault: no microphone.

    Urbanears Medis PLUS are GREAT!

I was ready to give up and have a custom pair of monitor type headphones made by a Audiologist. Every type and kind of headphone I've tried fell out during my gym workout. Finally, a design that works.

    Tinny, washed-out sound

    • Written by from Maplewood

I bought these because of all the positive reviews. I don't know what others compared these to, but they are possibly the worst-sounding in-ear phones I've ever owned. Worst of all is the exaggerated lower mids. They sound like an old-school landline phone. They also get uncomfortable after a while and are not noise-isolating whatsoever.

    great comfort and bad sound

    • Written by from Montreal

They stay in the ears even when moving quite actively.

They sound very bad. No sound isolation whatsoever.

I went by the previous comments to decide on purchasing these and was very disappointed at the lack of judgement about sound quality.

    Steep Price

    • Written by from Brampton

For an average 5 6 adult - my perfect fit is the XL for the ear click.
If you are around 6 ft - this might be too small for you.

    Design flaws:
The ear click is soft-sharp edged. Because the inner back of the ear is sensitive where you put it, it is quite painful. Perhaps they should've gone with a more smooth-rounded edge.

    Solution:
One time I accidentally wore the left earphone to my right vice versa and it felt comfortable. The inner front where the ear click is suppose to be is not sensitive to the edge.

    Moving (pro):
Stays in ear, I tested this while dancing with a lot of head movement.

    Moving (con):
It is very light-weight and always feels like it's not on your ear and gives that earphones are about to fall off sensation.

Sound: Some of us like the volume really high - but this does not have that capacity. The overall music starts to crack. Though if you just lower the volume a tidbit down, it's pretty good.

Price: Too steep for a flawed design. Perhaps $40 is more fair.

*Good if you wear glasses, move a lot.

    Incredibly uncomfortable

    • Written by from BALLWIN

These headsets are so uncomfortable - I tried them every way possible on a 4 hour cross-country flight. And as much as I wanted to listen to music - the most comfortable position I could find was still so painful on the ears that I could only go 20 minutes. I ended up throwing them away when I got home. I didn't want to give them away, because that would be like giving away a tool of torture....

Great for exercising, but break VERY easily...

    • Written by from Halifax

I bought these headphones mainly for bicycling around town so that I could hear my surroundings. They were great for that! The sound quality wasn't phenomenal but when I'm cruising on my bike I don't particularly care about that. The wind noise was quite loud but once again, not really a huge problem.

Where I have a BIG problem is that after only using these for a couple months the sound began to cut out intermittently. The problem is that where the cord connects to the device, the string type cord bends so much that it allows the internal wires to bend and break with very little wear and tear. I am very careful about bending the wires too, but when my iphone is in my pocket and I am biking around I can't help it sometimes that my iphone turns sideways in my pocket thus causing stress on the connection.

If it weren't for this I would have given these headphones 5 stars since they do exactly what they describe, but if they aren't going to last then what's the point? Too bad that these headphones have such a fatal flaw. 2 stars, one for each month that they worked.

    Good while they last

    • Written by from Marquette

I bought a set in March 2012, and three months later they lost sound in one channel, without being unduly stressed or dropped. Apple.com was kind enough to replace them, and now, two months later the second set failed in the same way. They must be poorly designed and/or manufactured, to fail so quickly.

    Don't work well after workout

    • Written by from Toronto

The sound quality of these earphones is average at best. Base is very basic and the range is limited. They do hook to my ears well and are don't slip off.

The big issue I have with these earphones is that without fail, after every workout I do, the remote control stops working. The volume controls either stop working completely or start messing up sound volume randomly. This lasts for half a day before they start working again. For earphones that are supposed to be designed for workouts, this is a big disappointment.

Having said that, I do use them as my primary earphones, despite this frustrating flaw.

    love these!

    • Written by from Surprise

I love these headphones for two big reasons. First, they hook to your ear, rather than stuffing inside of your ear. The ones that stuff inside your ear are terrible because then you can hear it every time you bump the cord, or even breathe. For running, that is a terrible thing. Since these headphones dont plug up your earhole, none of that noise comes through.

But the second, and BIGGEST reason I love these headphones is beacuse i am using them right now and they sound amazing, DESPITE the fact that yesterday, I accidentally put them throughthe clothes washer AND dryer! I was horrified when I realized what I had done! But they still sound wonderful :)

I may buy a second pair so that I have one at home and one in my truck.

oh, and I LOVE the braided cord!!!

    Geez

    • Written by from NEW YORK

I bought a pair of these. One side had no sound and none of the earpads came close to being the right size. A complete failure as far as I'm concerned. The only bright side was that Apple refunded my money with apologies.

The sound from the working side did sound good.

    Good, for a while.

    • Written by from Wahiawa

I have loved these earphones for a long while. But after 6 months, the bass from the right ear piece has stopped working, and the quality in my music has decreased. The earphones fit very well in your ear, and provide very good comfort (as long as you have big enough ears). The sound the earphone provides at first provides a great sound, since it has an "in-ear" design. These earphones are great to use for everyday use, but be aware that it will break eventually.

Good for listening with big ears only-

    • Written by from Saint Petersburg

Extremely uncomfortable after an hour or more if you have smallish ears.
If you have any internal ear piercings- don't even consider these. I could not wear the earbud correctly in my right ear due to one small piercing.

Microphone is horrible. Callers complained my voice sounded muffled and they could barely hear me. I switched back to the old apple ear phones I was replacing and was told it was a vast improvement in the sound of my voice!

    Bicyclist Review here, read on.

    • Written by from Arlington

First off, these headphones sound excellent for everything. From music, to phone calls, to games, the sound is superb compared to other headsets.

On the BICYCLE bit. There's a lot of drag on them in the wind, meaning it creates a little wind tunnel outside your ears when getting up to 7MPH or so. Increase in speed, and the airflow noise increases as well. at 25MPH it's like you have your head out the window of a moving car at 50. Luckily they sound good enough to overpower the airflow noise, but do you really want that? This is my only complaint however. If it weren't for the bicycle, I would have given them a 5, but I ride almost 20 miles a day, which is what I primarily bought them for. As others mentioned, you can hear outside sounds fine, which was my primary concern. I can't have the full ear inserts as I want to hear my surroundings on a bike.

It's only my first day using them, and the click-fit feels a bit weird, but I know I'll get used to it. The microphone quality is great! one thing I found over trying different headphones with mics, is that some don't have a good quality mic, with noise cancellation. Some headsets if there's any noise outside or wind/airflow (on a bike or running) the person on the other end only hears the wind/noise, and can't hear you. These work just as good as Apple's technology in that category; perfect outgoing audio.

Packaging is amazing! heh, 6 out of 5 stars on that one. Even a logo sticker that matches the color of your headset. These guys care about what they're doing, or just make it look that way at least, as the info book is outstanding!

Overall, a great headset, but for the biking it may not cut it just for the airflow noise. I'm going to give it a few days though.
Anyone have other suggestions for a bicyclist, under $50, hear outside sound, great mic/controls, and comfortable? (I know someones gonna say the Apple earphones at $30). 8)

    horrible build quality

    • Written by from OTTAWA

Sound is not bad. Fit is a bit uncomfortable if you have small ears. But here's the big problem: the cord's material is too soft and therefore the wires underneath will bend and eventually break... repeatedly. I went through 2 of them in less than a month each. Unfortunately I had purchased them directly from the manufacturer in Europe so the exchange process was a headache and I had to pay for shipping. So I have given up on them. Don't make the same mistake. I can't believe that they are still selling these, they are garbage.

Ouch - again not for small ish ears

    • Written by from BRISTOL

The reason why I hate the apple ear buds is because i swear they give me a headache when i'm using them. Maybe the person who reviewed these headphones was right. They're not for smallish ears (I don't think my ears are tiny either). If you don't like apple headphones, you may not like these.

I changed out the nubby piece so it doesn't hurt being in my ear...and these SOB's fall out when I'm working out non stop. So much so that I had to listen to the crumby gym music instead. I was sooo frustrated. I hate these headphones.

I bought them because my previous two pairs of jelly types eventually broke, I should just stick to those and spend a little more.

I just ran a full marathon with these headphones, and they felt great the whole way. They are the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn for running! I have recommended these to all my running buddies.
