Reviews for iBaby Monitor

Baby monitor now freezes after about 20 seconds, if that, so must close the app and reopen. Half the time is won't open until trying twice. This won't work for my 6 month old!!! A baby monitor needs to be working for more than just 20 second at at a time, or what is the purpose? Please fix this to align with the recent update...fast!!!

Since iOS 6, the app no longer opens. It immediately crashes. Not good....please fix quickly!

I set mine up and it worked fine for the last few months but now it keeps saying "Buffering". I see video for about 10 seconds then the buffering screen for 20 seconds. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if it never worked...but it was working amazing until this last update.

The camera is likely the best visually... when it works. When I initially set up the camera, it worked well, as designed, as advertised; however, when I moved, and switched networks, I began having trouble. The long and short of it is that the camera will not reset to factory defaults, regardless of the methods I try. For $200, the product, being a relatively "simple" product (an IP camera with wifi capabilities), should not have such flaws in my opinion. Customer support, however, was relatively quick to reply, but ultimately of little help as the camera is still not functional. I can now either send it to the manufacturer and be out the purchase for a month or so, or seek ways to bypass the security. I am actually baffled that the product is stocked in Apple stores as it lends what is in my opinion unwarranted credibility to the product. I cannot in good conscience recommend the product at this time.

First I want to say that the iBaby monitor is really cool and when we got it to work it is a great monitor. And unlike the numerous other reviews, it was VERY easy to set-up. However, I would not recommend it for any newborn/infants. While the camera works great and looks great on my iPhone, the alerts are unreliable.

The alerts only worked when the App was up and running...who leaves their phone running all night without going to sleep mode? No one! Our baby is not due for several months but we wanted to try it out first and see how the alerts worked...well we made lots of noise and moved but our phones never alerted us...similar to the other reviews. I cannot imagine my child moving or crying and not being alerted by my phone all night, pretty scary. Also I cannot rely on Wi-Fi to alert me...what if Wi-Fi goes out?

I emailed the company my problems and they said my problems was forwarded to the tech department to look into. However, after reading the other reviews i will be taking the monitor back and getting an old school monitor that detects, movement/sounds/heart rate.

I got this monitor so my parents who live 4 hours away could see our daughter when they wanted to. But if you have an iPhone, you can do a FaceTime or Skype session..which has better audio/video anyway. Lets be serious, are you relatives going to watch your child sleep for hours on end?? Probably not. With all that said, this is a great monitor if your kids are older and you travel alot so you can see them playing in their room while you are away. Or you want to monitor your baby sitter or your pets while away. However, I would not recommend for a baby monitor.

I bought this because I'm a huge Apple fan and I my wife and I both have iPhone's and iPad's. I thought how great would a baby monitor be for our 6 month old that we could just use with our iOS devices...

I'm a network engineer so setting up the product wasn't my issue (as it was with other reviews) on a 1 to 10 scale I'd give it a difficulty of 7. There's very little instructions and I know most home consumers have a hard enough time connecting their computer to WiFi let alone connecting some monitor via an iOS app.. I got the monitor setup and working (next to the router) but could not get it to connect once in baby's room. My house is blanketed with WiFi (802.11N) as I have a base station and repeater but this thing could find it 20 feet away. The iOS app is only an iPhone app so technically it does "work" on the iPad just very poorly, when the app works at all.

The video quality was superb, even in low/no light, when the unit connects. But it's just not worth the hassle.

I'm returning this and wait for the Withing Baby Monitor, I suggest you do the same.

We had to return our iBaby to the Mac store because we couldn't get it to work wirelessly, and we could not reach anyone at iBaby for customer support despite repeated tries. The instructions that come with the iBaby are insufficient which is especially frustrating given the non-existent customer support.

If you don't mind having it hooked up to your cable modem or wireless router (and you have one in your baby's room) then this product might be alright. Otherwise you should not waste your time with it.

but the way it works makes it more of a novelty than anything.

The software and tech support are very lacking. The biggest issue is that (as far as I can tell) the app must be up and running for the monitoring functionality to work. This makes your iOS device worthless while monitoring the baby - ie, no checking e-mail, facebook, etc while you monitor the baby. So as a monitor, this is a MAJOR FAIL.

Because if you want to continue to use your $500 iPad, you do what we do and use your $40 Sony BabyCall and open the iBaby APP only when he makes a sound - saving you a trip up the stairs. Problem is I could have bought any old IP camera for half the price and had the same functionality.

The software needs to be reworked so that the APP can stay running in the back ground and push alerts through - or have the audio continue to stream while other apps are running (like Skype does) - until then you are really just paying double, no matter how you slice it.

iBaby + dedicated iTouch for the iBaby = $400
vs Dedicated video monitor = $200

or

iBaby = $200
IP Camera + IP camera App < $100

Until they fix the software, my advice would be to just buy an IP camera and put it on your network and check the camera on you iOS device with an inexpensive App.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention - it doesn't come with user manual, and it doesn't seem to be on the iBaby website either. And there doesn't seem to be an easy way to watch the camera on my iMac (ie no Software). Another Major fail.

Until they fix these issues, avoid this product - unless you are rich and like to pay double. You can get the same functionality elsewhere for a lot less $$$

I have been searching for something like this for a decent price for a very long time. Now it is finally here!

However the only way I can get it to work is by connecting the camera via ethernet. When I disconnect the cord as they say you should be able to do after setup the camera stops working.

It does not make sense for me to run 50 feet of ethernet cable through the walls to my baby's room. The box only comes with a quick set up guide. Parts of the FAQ's on the app refer to the User Manual, which does not even exist on their website.

I really do not want to return this but so far I am the second hour in to researching my network, their website, the app's FAQ's, and the tiny quick start guide with no effective troubleshooting, and non-existant "help" forums anywhere on google.

I believe I have intermediate computer and networking knowledge and I have never run into a road block like this before. I would not recommend this product for a non-tech savvy person until a future upgrade.

The quirks definitely need to be worked out on this product.
