We chose this monitor so I could check in on my son while away. 98% of the time it wont connect with wifi outside of the home and the connection inside of the home is extremely unreliable. In addition to poor connections the monitor will only connect to one Iphone at a time so I cannot connect if my husband is connected. There is no way to put the alarms on vibrate or change the alarm tones which is an annoyance. I would not recommend this monitor to anyone and for the price we paid I expected a lot more.

Just bought the iBaby monitor. Initially surprised and irritated that it requires a modem to function, but decided to use it anyway for the grandparents to see the baby (and not for a monitor). Hooked it up, took me several tries for it to connect, then we were great. Went out to dinner and decided to check it only to find it offline again. Restarted my device- still no good. Had to wait until I got home to unplug/replug the modem and power cords to get it to reset.. Great concept, but it's still a long way from being ready to be a dependable monitor. Also, you may want to be wary that it HAS to be connected to a modem to work- who keeps a modem in the nursery?! Not keeping this long enough to see if it was a great product over the long haul.

Set up was extremely simple... very easy on the iphone etc... however setting up to view on a PC required my husband's techy skills.
We have many wi-fi devices in our home and so when we first set the ibaby up in my daughters room there was quite a bit of static and interference. We wound up having to run a very long network cable. (it comes with one, but it wasn't long enough)
Now the static is gone and everything is working fine.
We were disappointed that you have to purchase speakers to use the talk to baby feature as the camera unit is only equipped with a microphone.
As for the app... Ibaby Monitor BM app, Is very easy to use, the alert function is very sensitive but it's easy to turn off.

Video is clear, night vision is clear... camera moves from side to side and up & down very quietly. There's no zoom feature on the camera... but you can double click on the image to zoom in on your iphone.

Overall, we like it... just a pain running the wire and the fact that it needs speakers to allow you to talk to baby.

    Best Monitor

This monitor is the best one we have had. You do not need to run a Ethernet cord for the monitor to work, which I had originally thought. After you set the monitor up with the Internet connection in your home, you unplug the cord and can place the monitor anywhere in your home. My husband travels a lot and with this monitor he can stay more connected with his daughter.

Waste of money, difficult to install, crashes all the time

Worked for a total of 9 months before it stopped working completely. During the 9 months it crashed several times requiring re-installation. So very disappointed with this product, I would not recommend this to anyone.

Received this video monitor as a Christmas gift when we moved our then 18 month old into a big girl bed- she is now 3 and we still love watching her on it. Easy to set up, only have had minor issues with connecting (reboot usually solves all issues) and love the ability to take a photo of whatever shenanigans she is up to. I can check on her or listen to her bedtime routine while I'm out on occasion. I don't use the motion sensor (too loud), and I'm not crazy about the low battery warning (it gets annoying), but those are minor.

For the comment about the noise when you rotate the camera and the bright light shining at night- those are Only on the iPhone side of things.... In the baby's room you can't hear more than a slight hum as it rotates and there is no bright light (I checked the first time we used it.)

Never used this for a baby- just 18 months+.

Worth the money... And the minor headaches

I've had the baby monitor for a year and we live it. As long as it doesn't lose connectivity to your network for remote access, it's use is seemless as soon as you leave the wireless range.

I probably have to reset it and set up the camera once a quarter.

    "still in its infancy"

Couple of problems: there is no way to silence (or allow vibrate on a device) the alerts when the baby is moving or making sound, and the notification chime is very loud and annoying. Not ideal when you are at work or in a meeting. I have had repeated difficulties connecting on a wifi when I am not at home, and have had to call tech support several times, although they are helpful - but it's not as simple or straight-forward as we would come to expect from electronic companies. Image quality is okay. Even with decent speakers, trying to "talk" using the speak function is delayed and cumbersome and the sound is not ideal. In addition, the monitor is of no use when your phone is not active - makes the basic baby monitors appear better. Overall, excellent idea - needs some serious tweaking. Would not buy yet.

    UNBIASED REVIEW

Tested against other popular WiFi model monitors. UNBIASED REVIEW:
SET UP: Very easy! Only 4 incredibly simple steps! And if you unplug it to move it, no re-setup needed. Starts working right away.
PICTURE: Not the best, not the worst. Frankly, was expecting much better for the price. Night vision was decent. Good enough to see your baby, but you won't be hunting deer with it.
PRICE: No beating around, price is bad. Real bad. $199 seems much considering there are ones half that price with the same features.
RELIABILITY: This is where it shines! Amongst the other popular WiFi models, it's the only one that worked 100% of the times! WiFi... LTE... Worked every time!
FUNCTIONALITY: Pan/tilt/live feed function has about 1-2 second delay average, but is actually the quickest of them all. Motion/noise sensor was decent.
VERDICT: Received 5 stars due to one lone reason... Reliability. We tend to get wrapped up in features available to us on new technologies. But we mustn't forget the sole purpose of a baby monitor... To monitor our baby. Therefore, if one doesn't work every time, it doesn't matter what it "can" do. Price is high, but worth every penny for a piece of mind!

I buy this monitor, because I though I could watch my baby away from home, but it only works with a very good wifi signal and only when using whithin the same wifi. If someone knows how to make this thing work please contact me.

I have had this monitor for about 4 months now and I love it. I actually purchased a second monitor to use at my work when my daughter is with me.

The only feature that I would like to see on it would be a software update that would give you the ability to lock the camera in place since the iPad/iPhone occasionally gets bumped causing the camera to turn completely in the opposite direction.

At first we were confused when looking at the instructions thinking that it had to be wired in to a router. It does not. You do that one time to set it up, then it just remotely connects via wifi. Very easy to use and good picture quality and sound.

When looking for baby monitors I loved the convenience of using my I phone / I pad as a receiver instead of caring around another device. The night vision is excellent and the camera easily rotates. Sound quality is good. Downside we have found that it drains the battery on your phone or I pad when running the ap. this in turn sets off the alert alarm.. Not something you want to hear when baby is sleeping. Another downside is making sure the ap is continually running when accessing other aps. This would be an excellent product if they could work on the ap not draining the battery.

Best thing EVER!! Quality rocks and you can turn and rotate just tons of awesome things! SOOO clear and you can take cute pictures too! We love it cause my sweet husband while at work can spy on us and watch his little girl sleeping or me rocking her. We both have iphones and so does grandma so she can watch her grandbaby too!

I bought this monitor and wished very quickly that i hadn't.

It is babdly made, the operation is very cluky, it whirs and clicks when your turn the camera remotly (which, considering my daughther is a very light sleeper is impossible) and the "night vision" mode basically switches a torch on to shine where the camera is looking! needless to say, this wakes up whoever it is looking at!

Moreover the picture quality is terrible. seriously - don't get this monitor.

Impossible to set up for viewing away from home network.

I bought this camera so when I had to travel for work I could peek in on my little man at night. However, the networking set up for viewing outside your home network for this application is a nightmare! It was pretty easy to get it to work on the home network, but that (in my opinion) is only getting half use out of this expensive monitor. I had to contact iBaby for support and my network provider for help with port forwarding (which they charge you for tech support). Finally I just gave up. It shouldn't be this difficult! On top of all that, the application crashes too often and is not reliable in any way as a singular monitor device for your child. You can't know when it might just stop working in the middle of the night.

So- I have returned this item. The camera had a good picture, but the networking set up and application crashing is too horrible to make this a usable product. Until these 2 items are better I will just settle for a standard video monitor that I can count on to work.

    Pro:
    - good video picture

    Con:
    - terrible application - crashes all the time
    - difficult (impossible) network set up for viewing off the home network (i.e. when traveling)

Was this useful? Impossible to set up for viewing away from home network.

    Poorly-designed waste of time

Our first experience with the iBaby camera was with an older 801.11b/g/n router. After following the instructions to the letter and much twiddling with the setup the camera did work briefly. But it kept losing connection with the older wireless router, so back to the store it went.

Then we bought a newer dual-band 801.11b/g/n router that has terrific range/connectivity. We DOUBLED DOWN on the iBaby camera, purchasing two units, thinking, "the problem must have been with the old router."

WRONG¹. WRONG². No connectivity AT ALL this time, with either camera, under any circumstances.

We tried everything we could find on the internet to resolve the problem (including Terrence D from Springfield's suggestion, as we now also use range extenders on one of the dual bands) -- no luck.

This is a poorly-designed, poorly-documented, overpriced product. Save yourself a lot of time/aggravation and don't buy.
