    Lion Compatible AIO Printer

    • Written by from Sparks

HP's OfficeJet Pro 8600 eAIO is definitely a Mac OSX Lion-compatible, multifunction printer.

Just follow the Start Sheet instructions. They make the setup easy. Our included DVD has the latest Lion-version software that is listed on HP's support website. We installed, used the Wizard, and were able to wirelessly print from an iMac & MacBookPro. Our iPad & iPad2 printed directly via Apple AirPrint. We did not try HP ePrint. Only the power cord and phone line (for fax) are attached.

We did have to download and install a Scan Patch for Lion from the HP website. Printing, copying, faxing, and scanning all "just work".

    Very Satisfied

I purchased this elsewhere a few days ago for fifty dollars less than listed here. I had it set up and running on and iPhone, iTouch, Macbook, iMac, and an HP PC in 20 min. Operation is very intuitive, fast, quiet. It looks great, very sleek and clean. I love the fact that the only wires are for power and a phone line Seems more solidly built than any other HP printer that I have owned. This really compliments the apple products we own.

    Buyer Beware

    • Written by from Millersville

This is a horrible printer. It has issues connecting to WifFi. To scan I had to activate scan each time - and it doesn't work. Have to reboot the printer n times. VERY SLOW scan and printer speed. Gosh...I could go on and on..
Prior to this I owned a Canon and it was PERFECT. The only reason I went with HP is at that point it only supported AirPrint.
I just might take a loss and buy a Canon now that they have firmware update for airprint.
One of the worst printers ever...Buyer Beware

    This is A great machine!

I had no trouble setting up this printer on three PCs and a iPhone and iPad. If you use the software provided it is a snap. The unit has a ton of features and it is perfect for the gadget guy. The apps are an extra bonus. I Iike the machine and would recommend it.

    Would not recommend

Very difficult to connect to your wireless. Have to shut the printer off several times before it finally connects. I have been an HP customer for a long time and this is a product that I would not recommend unless you have the patience to turn on and off several times. Print quality is low at best - expected more from HP.

    HP 8600 Review

    • Written by from Glencoe

I've had nothing but trouble with it. I called HP Customer Support and was directed to their "Leadstream" Department. I was told by Leadstream there are hardware problems and I should unplug and re-plug it. It worked for a while and then failed to print again. When I went through the drill another time, it printed 5 copies rather than one, wasting ink and paper. When it prints it is fine, but the printer is utterly unreliable.

Called HP again. They told me to plug the printer into the wall and not a power bar. I told them I would use an extension cord given where my outlet is located. They said that may not work.

I am going to return this while it is still under warranty. HP is a great company, but this product was apparently released before it was perfected.
