A double threat case that's worth the money

    • Written by from Columbus

This case is excellent for anyone that may have trouble charging their phones during the day due to work conditions, etc. I'm a news videographer and depending on the news story, I might be stuck at a police standoff or press conference for hours without charger access. This case is perfect for keeping your iPhone charged for long periods of time. Just charge the case itself at night (comes with it's own special cord that fits into any apple accessory wall jack or charger) and after the case is fully charged, it'll charge the phone battery as well. Then during the day when your iPhone gets low on power, just switch on the mophie juice pack and it will charge your phone. It's pretty heavy duty, very sleek and stylish. This is a great buy!!

    Excellent case

    • Written by from Kitchener

With numerous friends and family as iPhone users, I seem to be a much heavier user than most; a typical day of usage for me requires me to plug my phone in around 4pm if I want to make it to the evening. This case effectively doubles the battery life of my phone, and I can do long days without worrying about my battery life.

The case adds a bit of weight and bulk to the iPhone 4, which I don't mind because I feel it makes the phone a little easier/more comfortable to hold in my hand. It has a lip around the front of the phone that can help protect the face, but a screen protector is still recommended to protect from scratches.

There are two cons to this case though. The first is that it uses the micro-USB connector. It comes with the appropriate cable, but I have to take the phone out of the case if I want to use an accessory with the dock connector. This also poses an issue because my car charger has the dock connector. I ended up purchasing another micro-USB cable and a 'standard' USB charger for my car. The other con to this case is that, when used with an iPhone 4S, the mute toggle switch is partially covered as the switch is ever so slightly lower than on the iPhone 4. It doesn't make it unusable, but it requires a little more effort to flip the toggle switch.

Otherwise, it is a fantastic case and well worth the money once I get over those two issues.

Be aware this is a BLACK PACK with a very thin coating of WHITE PAINT.

    • Written by from Flint

After the first nick it looks terrible. Bumped it (and not even hard) against the coffee table putting it down now there is a big black spot where the white paint chipped off and we all know what happens when you get a chip the flaking around the chip spreads. Just ugly at this point.

    What's wrong with you people?

    • Written by from Maryville

Ok. All of the reviews on here that are saying that they don't recommed the case because they can't remove the phone from it. First of all, there aren't many instances where you would want to remove it from the case. Secondly, the packaging has photo instructions on the proper way to remove the phone from the case. All you do is start at the top and slide your finger down on one side and it pops right out. The new design is great in fact because it doesn't come off as easily. It is more secure and protects the Iphone better. Case in point, all you have to do is read the instructions. It is very simple. The mophie cases are fantastic and they are NOT hard to remove from the phone. Period.

    Great when it works....

    • Written by from Bellingham

...but two of them have failed on me. I'm on my second Mophie, and after only a few weeks it, like the first one, has developed a short in the charging port so that it no longer charges. Very frustrating and disappointing.

I don't get the bad reviews.....

    • Written by from NOGALES

Before the recent 5.1 update for the iPhone I could barely make it to the end of the day without charging. I purchased this case and wow I am so happy. All my friends are always asking, "Do they make one of those for my phone?"

It has an on/off switch at the bottom and once your almost gonna run out of battery you can conveniently turn it on to charge your iPhone. Simply amazing and great!

One thing some people might not like: Makes the iPhone double in weight, increases the length of the iPhone about 1 inch and changes the cable from an Apple connector to a micro usb (more universal). Personally none of these things bother me though.

    Awesome case

    • Written by from Haines

I had this same case for my iPhone 3G and love this one just as much. It is difficult to get on and off though. You just have to push where the camera hole is first then gently work it off on that same side. I have to admit, that took me a bit to figure out. Also, when charging it, both parts of the case need to be together. You can't just charge the small part. I didn't have to have the other one fully assembled to charge so I just thought I"d pass that on to anyone else who has that issue. The paint on it does chip easily. I have the white one and within a couple days of owning it, found two chips in the paint along the front edge and it is black underneath. I have a white phone so it really stands out. I'm a little bummed about that. I think if I had to do it all over, I'd get the black case just so I wouldn't see the chips.

The case does do what it says though. It's pretty heavy duty so I feel the phone is safe in it and does give it a good charge. I like the four lights along the bottom to tell you where it's at for power.

    It worked...at first

    • Written by from New Braunfels

I had a MJPA for my iPhone 4S and was using it for a few months and it quit working. Since it was still within the 1 year warranty and I contacted Mophie, who sent me a new case. I just received my FOURTH replacement case and none of them work with my 4S. I tested the last one on my mom's iPhone 4 and it worked, but it's advertised to work with the 4 AND 4S. Not very happy with this product.

    Contrary to opinion

    • Written by from Oakland

It is not that hard to take the phone out of the case. As long as you start with one side it's very easy and I've done it so many times and have taught others to do it as well. It doesn't damage the phone either.

Morphie is a great company with excellent customer service. I've bought the case and then went to work in china for four months. The USB charging piece got loose so they express shipped me a whole new case to china.

This was great until I droppe the phone right on the edge of the USB thing of the new case and then it cracked. The bottom part of the case that is. Everything works but the bottom part comes off a bit easy. The fix? Just add som stickers and no worries for me.

It's a great case and anyone who has an iPhone and sees my case thinks its great.

    Paint chips

    • Written by from Palatine

    Dear, Customer support

I am very displeased with the Mophie juice pack air for the iPhone 4/4s. Upon buying my first i was ecstatic and very happy to use my new mophie, however I didn't really put it on until a while later. After three days of use the mine usb "port," was pushed back into the mophie, now i couldn't charge it, additionally after a measured 6 inch drop onto wooden flooring, paint was severely chipped off. this made me very depressed because the case was $80 and now that hard earned money had gone to waste. I used my warrantee and received a second mophie juice pack air, this time I assumed that the first mophie's problems were my fault. I treated this second one like a baby, every night I checked that the cord was right side up, i plugged it in ever so gently and in the morning I removed the plug and kept the mophie inside of a bag to keep it safe, the following night i did the same as the past, in the morning when i was gently removing the power cord from the "port," it would't come out, so i gently wiggled it and hoped for the best.
Still nothing so with a vigorous tug i managed to get the cord out but the port came with it along with bending the flimsy siding of the case, this rendered my mophie un chargeable and just a plain case.
I am planning on switching to a portable charging device from a different company, mophie products are seemingly put together sloppily and are made of flimsy week and cheap materials. Please talk to someone about this so that your company can truly say, "Mophie loves you."

    DON'T BUY IT

    • Written by from Utopia

Only thing that I liked about this case - was I got extra battery life. Dislikes - its heavy, the paint chips off and looks horrible, uses a different charge and you have to take the external battery off to use the ipone charger and then end up leaving the external battery at home. And again the paint chipped off within the first week. Not worth the money!!

Great Product - One Problem I'm waiting to solve

    • Written by from HUNTSVILLE

The Juicer does all it claims. With it I can go easily go 2 days without a recharge. This is especially nice when traveling. The case seems to provide good protection for the iPhone although I continue to worry about the front glass.

The problem i have is utilitarian. I prefer to carry my iPhone at all times. Works great when I have clothes with a spare pocket to slip the iPhone into. Not so great when my pockets are occupied with wallet, change, keys, etc. The iPhone with the juicer installed is 1/2 inch longer (5 in. vice 4.5 in.) and I have not been able to locate a case to carry on my belt that would hold the phone and allow reasonable access to the iPhone. Still a great product.

Really does double your time on the iPhone. Only downside i have, is that the paint is easily chipped off after removing your iPhone from the case the way as directed.

    WON'T COME OFF!!!

    • Written by from Pomona

TERRIBLE DESIGN, way too tight, EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TAKE OFF THE PHONE once is on (nearly impossible in fact). And I need to take if off occasionally to dock it with peripherals or If I'm away from home and only have a standard iPhone charger to connect it to. Im going back to the apple store tomorrow to demand a refund or an exchange. This is UNACCEPTABLE for a cover that costs $79!!! DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL, save your money for something else.

...and just to be specific, this is regarding the most recent version of the mophie air, not the older version, my freinds have that older version and it doesn't seem to have this problem.

I really like it. It's very handy and useful since Iphones have awful battery life in the first place! But the only problem I have with it is that it's very hard to remove the case. I must be doing something wrong but I can't get it off! The extra bulk is not noticeable or inconvenient either.

    Great Product & Customer Service

    • Written by from Hangzhou

All products have minuses and pluses, after been using this acc. for several months here are my comments:

    Minus:
    - Once you mount this to your phone, it is not easy to take it off. But I think the idea is when you mount this thing on, why you have to take it off that often?
    - When my phone battery goes down to 20%, and it can only charge my phone to 70%-ish with a fully charged juice pack. (Maybe because I am using the phone at the same time)
    - The battery indicator doesn't seem right. It has four lights to show you the battery status of the case, but when you use 3/4 according to the indicator, then the battery goes down like crazy.

    Plus:
+ It's the thinnest battery case ever, and it looks great with the white 4S
+ The design is better than its previous product, when you have to use Apple's cord, simply remove the bottom part and you are okay to go(You don't have to take off the whole case)...
+ I accidently dropped and broke this thing so I email Mophie's customer service team to buy its replacement, instead, they've shipped a brandnew one with no additional charge!!! You get what you paid for, and it's definitely worth 80 bucks.

Compared with its minus and plus, I am rating this stuff 5 star with no doubt.

    Disconnects During IPhone Backup--Every Time!

    • Written by from Taylorsville

Bought first case on 12/17 and it wouldn't allow the iPhone 4 (not 4S) to sync without giving the error about not being able to backup the phone due to the phone disconnecting from iTunes. I tried different ports, a powered USB hub, and different juice pack switch positions. I also tried to "backup" the phone vice syncing it, but the results were the same. We're using the latest updates on our i7 iMac (as of 2011-12-22) and the iPhone too. The phone sync's nicely when hooked directly to the iMac (either to a direct port or through the USB hub).

Returned the case to the Apple Store for an exchange on 12/19. The second case displays the exact same error message! I've read some other anecdotal accounts of similar issues.

I sent an email through the Mophie support website, but their reply was a canned response to further the warranty return--not a stellar grasp of the issue. Thankfully, we bought this at the Apple Store and their return policy is great.

This is for my wife's iPhone 4 and she loves the look and feel of the case, but it's going back today...and she'll pick out another case from a different manufacturer.
