In the words of Jeff Spicoli "Awesome! Totally Awesome!"

    • Written by from Humble

After just having my C5's for just a couple of days and all I can say is awesome! These are my first expensive set of ear phones that I have ever bought, so I really don't have anything else to match them too. But I do have a set of Sony MDR-V6 headphones. In 1987, audio industry journalist Daniel Kumin wrote, "Throw away your loudspeakers. There is now what may be the most perfect transducer yet made by man. Recently I auditioned a pair of Sony MDR-V6 Studio Monitor headphones, then purchased them. There are not enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe the performance of these headphones. Listening to them with a good CD recording is like being in the center of a live performance."

But when comparing them to the B&W C5's, their is no comparision, the B&W's blow away the closed over the ear Sony Monitor Headphones. When listening to the different kinds of music that I have, everything from Bach and Mozart, to Sade, Harry Connick, Jr., Bush, Peral Jam, Depeche Mode, Gloria Estenfan, Hall and Oates, NKTOB, New Order, Madonna and Billy Joel, all the music sounds totally different than I have heard it before. The B&W's bring out all of the music and sounds that I have never heard before and made me stay up late one night til 2 in the morning, I started to go to bed around 10:30, listening to my music all over again. The bass is just about perfect, not over bearing but just right. The treble is perfectly matched as well. Nothing else really compares.

I once had the opportunity to listen to a pair of 800 Diamond series speakers from B&W at a place here in Houston called the Home Theater Store. It was a room with just the speakers, which cost over $20,000 a pair, and a couple of Macintosh amps sitting on the floor and a plush leather chair sitting in front of them. The salesman ask me what wanted to listen to from the choices that they had and lucky for me that had a copy of Sade's greatest hits CD, so I had heard the songs on that CD many times and knew what each song sounded like. After sitting in the chair, he asked me to close my eyes as he started playing the track off of the CD, which was "Cherish The Day". When the song started playing it actually felt as if Sade was standing in the room in fromt of me singing the song, that is how great those speakers sounded. That is how these Bowers and Wilkins C5's sound, the artist singing the music feels as if they are in the room with you giving you a private concert.

Should you have the means to buy these headphones, please do so, as they will probably be the last set you ever buy.

    Very good sound, but uncomfortable

    • Written by from Philadelphia

I find the fit very uncomfortable. Also, the 3 button mic is not very easy to use. Though sound is very good, I would not buy again.

I am a sellperson who actually sells B&W high end speakers and truly I think these headphones are one of the best I heard so far for the size and price. You have to find the right fit for your hear first. If you read comments that says there's not enough bass, it's simply because the person didn't find the right plug size included in the box. You won't be disapointed! R.I.P. Steve. Love.

    HORRIBLE product!!!

    • Written by from Dartmouth

The sound is good but the overall product is HORRIBLE!! I have had to ship mine 3x's so far back to have them 'fixed' or given another pair. The wires connecting the aux are faulty and keep on breaking. DO NOT BUY!!!!!! It'll cost a lot more shipping to have then 'fixed'

Used them for a few months before the right side stopped working entirely. Hopefully B&W will warranty these things.

    Bowers & Wilkins Ear-Buds

    • Written by from Vadnais Heights

If you're looking for headphones (Ear-Buds) that have a perfect in-ear fit that adjust for ultimate comfort, sound so unbelievably clear even when at loudest levels and appearance resembling the future then get Bowers & Wilkins C5 in-ears. Bass is crazy good, noise canceling is surprisingly comparable to over-earphones. The best part is they never need adjusting while running and don't fall out of your ear!!!!

    british quirk

    • Written by from Cambridge

Okay, sure, these are expensive, but, hey, look up the page a bit and see what others are demanding for a catchy name and a bit of flash. These are audiophile in-ear units and in my personal case, about the only ones that really work and really sound wonderful. Very good stereo separation, very clean bass (especially for jazz and classical, which is what I listen to), all the while having a sort of retro look, with that typical brit charm. They are heavy, yes, and the remote clicker is a pain- cannot be used with gloved hands. The mic works very well, and darned if I can find it- must be behind the straight groove in the remote casing somewhere. These are available for less from other vendors, so if expense is a concern, check around. The thick cable is a plus.

    Be Patient with the fit

    • Written by from Raleigh

I had a set of Bang & Olufsen A8s that finally died on me after 4 years. I was going to replace them with another set of B&Os but saw the C5s on sale for $120 at Apple's Black Friday Sale and took the plunge.

First off, the C5s WILL be uncomfortable for the first week or so of use. They are a very unique design and the Ear Loop takes some getting used to. Once you get it to work, however, the fit is absolutely spectacular; I hate in-ear monitors because they don't fit well in my ears, but the C5s fit snugly and don't move at all once you get them in here.

Secondly, these headphones sound really, really fantastic. Not quite as good as Etymotic or B&O in the high range, but they do offer a near-flat frequency response, which means highs and lows will be pronounced while retaining a "fat" sounding middle. Bass is full and rich without being overpowering like in the Monster iBeats. And the Bose iE2s have nothing on these. I like Bose products (own a pair of QC3s) but the C5s completely verify the "No Highs, No Lows, Must be Bose" adage.

The one problem I've had with the headphones is that the carrying case is literally impossible to use. But absolutely no problems with the headphones themselves.

If you're looking for something different, I encourage you to give these a try. These headphones truly are as good as advertised. And they look pretty sweet too :)

    Pretty good, but not great

    • Written by from s. abbington

These headphones provide very good clear and clean sound, and have an excellent build quality. They are very comfortable, and secure in the ear once you figure out the correct in ear piece to use. If you are looking for a pair of headphones with good sound but that are easy on the bass tones, these are for you, however if you expect a boomin beat look elsewhere, these won't do the trick.

Ringo's kick drum is in my ear...FINALLY!!!

    • Written by from Crofton

I've had these for a month. I wanted to try all the tips to make sure I had the best size for bass response before I rated them. Proper fit is the key and when I found the right ones...WOW! These are the best in-ear headphones I've ever owned. Some others I've had sounded OK when you held them in place by hand but these are the only ones that have stayed in proper alignment hands free! I've read some other reviews about the trouble getting the ear tips on and off...they're right. They're a pain in the buns but please be patient. It will pay off with tight accurate sound with bass to spare. Happy listening!!!

    best in market

    • Written by from GLENDALE

I tested and reviewed several high end headphones after settling on these. I bought the Shure 435's which are the industry standard for professionals, which cost roughly $300. The Shure's sounded great and were very crisp, but mid-level bass was lacking and they became uncomfortable after 30 mins of usage. I also tried the Klipsich in-ears which cost roughly $100. The bass was overwhelming in these, and you missed a lot of the lows. I previously owned a pair of the iBeats and those are by far the worst and most overpriced headphones. The bass drowned out everything and have poor build quality which caused me to replace them 3 times in 6 months.

I settled on the B&W's because they have the best sound out of all. You will hear things in your favorite music that you didn't even know where there. The bass is great, but not overwhelming where it drowns the low. Top it off, they stay in my ear at the gym, snowboarding, hiking, and even regular usage at the work place. I have not had them fall out once. To make them even better, pick up the Comply foam tips for about $15 bucks for 3 sets and you will never need another pair of headphones.

Also, B&W gives you a 2 year manufacturer warranty so you know you have a solid pair of headphones for at least 2 years.

... but comparing it to my other earphones, this one bags the 5 stars for its sound accuracy and subdued baselines, which i thought at 1st wasn't really what i was hoping for, but after 4 days of use, i really noticed how this was superior in this niche.

    Amazing Sound!

    • Written by from Fraser

I've been wanting then B&W P5's for a while, problem is I prefer in ear headphones because I can stick them in my pocket, over ear head phones are harder to carry around (when not in use). So I decided to go with the C5's and figured if I didn't like the sound quality I would return them. The first song I listened to on them was Cloth by Common. I was absolutely amazed. The store that I work in sells Bose, B&W, Beats by Dre, Skull Candy Avaitors and a few other models. I liked the Bose and the Avaitors but I wasn't a fan of the DreBeats. Out of all the headphones I tested, I liked the p5's the best but couldn't decide whether I wanted over ear head phones. I decided to try out the C5's and I'm glad I didn't buy over ear head phones. They sound amazing. I had a long debate over the Bose MEI2's or these headphones. I couldn't test either because neither are available as a display model because they are in ear headphones. I'm glad I didn't go with the Bose. I couldn't be happier with these headphones. Pay the extra money for the Bower and Wilkins. You won't regret it.

    Outstanding!

I've had my fair share of headphones and the C5 tops the list. It has great clarity, strong and punchy bass, and works with nearly ever genre of music. Highly recommended.

I loved them enough, that I bought a pair of their CM5 bookshelf speakers.

    Unbelievable.

    • Written by from Brunswick

These headphones are outside of my typical budget range - I usually spend about $50 or $60 on earbuds from someone like V-Moda. I'm so happy with this set of earbuds, though, that I'll more than likely consider earbuds in this price range in the future, should I need to purchase another set.

This is the nicest and most comfortable set of earbuds I've yet heard. The smallest silicon tips work best for me. Lows, mids and highs are all nice and clear, and the C5s sound great no matter what I'm listening to - primarily rock (like Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Van Halen, etc.), but also some jazz and swing.

    Verdict: BUY.

Change the fitting to fit your ear & turn up the volume

    • Written by from Syracuse

The default ear piece size when inserted kept falling out and I was disappointed thinking that with the design of the headset wrapping around the ears would keep them in , but given the fact that my ear canals are just a size smaller than the Holland tunnel, I put in the larger fitting and not only we're they comfortable and stayed in I then could turn up the volume and all that tinny sound that I first heard with the smaller fitting was gone and the sound now was incredible. as if I was sitting in the center of an acoustically perfect venue. Bottom line is you may have to modify the fittings and then turn it up a little for the bass, treble, highs and lows to come through, and when they do you'll hear what I've been talking about. OUTSTANDING !

Hands down the best earphones I have ever tried. Stays in place, the base is solid, the melody line crystal clear and to top it all, I can't hear my co-workers around me. I've tried a few high-end earphones before but this one impresses me the most.
