    Not worth it

    Too fragile, easily broken.

    While the sound quality, product design, and packaging are all amazing, the product itself is not reliable. I bought two of these in 2012, only to have them for a couple months before both of the left ear-buds gave out. Just recently--literally last week--I thought I'd give this one more shot. I spent nearly $200.00 only to run into this problem, again. For now on, I'm sticking with my B&W P5 headphones--I've had this for more than a year, and it's still working great.

    Great company, but horrible, horrible product.

    Good sound is not enough...

    Im at the fourth pair. All the other three had stopped working properly within months. I like the sound (5 stars-for the price range), the noise canceling (5 stars), the fit is good (4stars),but is frustrating to get new ones every few months because some of the build quality, most likely cord connections (1 star). If this fourth pair fails soon too, will try to get the wires replaced with a different brand from other headphones I have... I would not buy this again unless they address the issue.

    Great Sound.but broken after 2 weeks of use.

    I really hate to give this review because I really do love the sound but I am having the same quality issues that many on this site are having. My right earbud stop working after about 2 weeks. I really really want to buy them again but can't risk $180 on a pair of earbuds if I think they are going to break at anytime. If they were under $100 I would buy them in a heartbeat just for the sound.

    2 year warranty - cable loop wore out 15 months after purchase

    The headphones have a very true sound which I appreciate. The loop design is unique and works well to position the headphones in my ears. However I cannot rate these highly as the B+W warranty of 2 years while generous compared to some other brands wasn't long enough to deal what I would call expected wear based on the design.

    The loops bend the cables constantly where it meets the ear bud. Over time this wears and the outer sheath eventually cracked on one side. After contacting B+W I was told this is an out of warranty repair and will thus cost $100. Since that's more than 50% of the cost I'd rather invest in different headphones with a different design such as Shure.

    C5-great sound but sadly unreliable

    Got my first pair of C5s and loved the seal and fit, really comfortable. Great range and clarity of sound, second to none- and the noise cancelling is the best I have seen for ear buds. Unfortunately, my first pair stopped working abruptly on the left earpiece. This was ok, as it was still under warranty, so they shipped a new pair right away. This pair worked fine for about 13 months when the right earpiece. Sadly, I am not going to bother trying to get a new set, I am going to give up on the B&W C5 because the quality is not acceptable...still trying to find a good in-ear set with the same range, bass and comfort as the C5.

    not for everyone

    I bought the B&W C5 for 2 reasons. I wanted a really good sounding in-ear headphones. B&W has a good reputation for their products and these DO sound very good. the 2nd main reason: I need a pair that stays put in my ears when I'm at the gym or doing any outdoor activities. for me, this is where they fell way short. I was intrigued by the design. seemed like a good way to solve my problem of the in-ear pods that always fall out or need to be secured constantly. I tried all the different sized "bud" adaptors that came with but nothing solved the problem. running on a treadmill, doing sit-ups or even mowing the lawn, these C5s never stay in. I really wish there could've be someway to try before buying I could've gone with a different brand. again, these do sound really good BUT given my main reason as fit I'm only giving these 2 stars.

    Comfortable, good sound - Issues with the cord

    This is the second pair of these I have owned. The first failed within 4 weeks of owning. The cable joint at the plug started to go, crackling in right ear bud, eventually no sound. These were replaced under warranty. The second pair have started to do the same after 12 months.

    I'm not using these for exercise mainly at my desk at work and walking around with my phone in my pocket.

    In terms of comfort, I have found these to be excellent. Sound quality is good, bass is nice.

    Given the price point its a little disappointing to have the same issue again after 12 months.
    If B&W can fix the cord issues I would have no hesitation giving these a 5 star rating.

    I just bought these today from the Apple Store. I know that Bowers & Wilkins make amazing home speakers but I didn't know what to expect with these. I unboxed them and then tried to use them but they wouldn't fit in my ears. It was extremely annoying and made me want to punch a hole in the wall. I expected that changing the rubber buds would help but it didn't. Not only that, but I was expecting a much more acoustic earphone from Bowers & Wilkins yet these had way too much bass and the treble was too loud. I love the look of them but can't think of any other positives.

    At first I thought these were amazing, great sound and base. But after 2 weeks of normal use they started acting up. Itunes would automatically turn on even if I force quite the app, music that is paused starts playing a few mins later like if they had a mind of there own. Eventually the left bud completely gave out. I would expect more from a brand such as bowers and wilkins, especially after 2 weeks of use!

    Disappointing Sound Quality

    Having admired B&W speakers for years - and been a proud owner of the 801Fs - I was excited to replace my aging Bose earphones with the B&W C5s. To my unpleasant surprise they sounded tinny. I listen to classical and opera and the entire soundstage moved back 1000 feet. Strings sounded strident and the brass lacked punch. There was no bass to speak of. The Bose are far superior. Changing the ear tips is just about impossible. They will rip if you try. I'm sticking with the Bose - a far superior product. Too bad...and disappointing.

    Shock Hazard

    I've had these headphones for about 8 months. Before getting to the negative, I have to say that the sound quality and noise cancellation capability of the B&W headphones are a cut above. I've owned Shures and Monster in-ear headphones previously and these are better. Now the bad part - over the past couple of months I've been getting shocked intermittently when I'm walking outside in the cold and when I make sudden movements either getting up from a desk, couch or generally moving around. The design flaw is most likely due to the ear pieces being made of metal and not being properly grounded.

    Barring the free shock therapy, I would have given the headphones 5-stars.

    Good sound but wouldn't stay in ears

    Had very high hopes for them but was very disappointed. Maybe I have deformed ears, but I spent way too much time trying to place/wedge/coax/glue/staple these things into my ears for a comfortable, lasting fit. It never really happened. For brief spells when they were in place, they sounded very good. But if I wanted to do anything more that lay in bed, they wouldn't work. The wires are very rigid/heavy and that was also annoying, even if they would have fit better.

    Not what I hoped for

    I read the reviews, compared competitors, weighed all options and these were definitely not worth the $$$ they cost. Two problems I have, and they are big ones:

    1. SOUND QUALITY is way too bass heavy. I had to adjust the equalizer to bass reducer to get close to the quality I want.

    2. FIT is too awkward. B&W are trying too hard here. Design doesn't always succeed just because it's different than everyone else's headphones. I never achieved a truly snug fit, even with all the various rubber tips provided. A sung fit is essential for proper sound, but these would slip out often causing me to reseat them. The Secure Loops are an interesting gimmick, but after an hour, they hurt my outer ear because they press on the ear folds.

    I retuned these the very next day and exchanged them for the Ultimate Ears 600vi. I already own a pair of custom Ultimate Ears UE10 Pros that cost $1,000, and think they are the best I've ever heard. I bought the B&Ws because I needed a temporary pair of phones while my UE10s are being repaired. The UE 600vi's don't fit much better than the B&Ws, but at least the sound is more balanced.

    I must mention that UE10 Pros are in an entirely different class of in-ear phones and they don't get much better than that. Comfort and sound are truly phenomenal. I've had them for 7 years and can always get them repaired (drivers replaced, new cables, etc.) if need be. The cables are detachable in case you need to just replace those. About once a year I ship them to Ultimate Ears for a check over and they usually find something that needs to be tweaked. If you have the means, you must buy them, otherwise find an alternate that you can afford. Just don't waste your money on the B&Ws.

    So far the best all around fit and sound for a non-custom in-ear phones are the Klipsch Image X10i for $350. They have one negative, though. The cables aren't well made. Mine disconnected after about a year of mild use.

    They don't last

    It's been 6 months since I bught this earphones and the cable already broke, very disappointing since they are not cheap.
    To be fair , the fit and sound are great .

    The Remote Is Junk!

    I listen to audiobooks all day every day at a full time job that can be loud and dirty and rough. I also listen to all kinds of music at home. I am a maintenance man at a couple of apt. complexes, and I have to pause my audiobooks frequently to talk to tenants or coworkers or bosses, and it's already become an inside joke that it takes WAY TOO LONG for me to find and press the pause button on this thing! I've owned iPhone headsets (prolly around ten at least) from every price point, from $20 (Sony) to $300 (Beats), and these ($190) are the WORST I've ever used! Why is that?! Bowers and Wilkins supplies the monitor speakers for Abbey Road studios. The Beatles are my #1 favorite band, so I thought I'd be buying a quality product because of their connection to my favorite music. I could not have been more wrong about that assumption. *******The remote is round when it should be angular or flat. You can't find the pause/play button fast-enough in this fast-paced world.*******

    That's just the remote.

    The bass is there but fake (not as bad as Bose or Beats Studio, though).

    The mids and highs are gone, and it is way too forward with caustic, ear-piercing loudness, devoid of tonal quality, though it's not lacking in muffled, muddled gobbledegook. It seems to amplify the worst parts of audio while rendering the front parts way back in the mix.

    The adjustable ring comes out of the earpiece. It also bends almost beyond repair (even after being stored in its protective case).

    I gave it two stars, because they don't sound as bad as Bose (no bass) or Beats (too much bass). Otherwise, I would have given them a one star rating.

    Learn about headphones from HeadRoom (look them up [their in-house product reviews help]) and then go to an Apple Store for your purchase. That's my strategy. Amazon (read product reviews there, though) is just a little too risky for me. I like to see products in person before I buy them.

    I am going to return these and maybe get the upper echelon Klipsch from the Apple Store.

    SO SO not worth 179!!!!

    When I first got this pair I thought it sounded good to some degree, but the more I would listen to any genre of music the more I would use the EQ and no matter what I did I could never find much clairty!!! These are like a more expensive version of ibeats but sounds a tad bit better but not woth 179!!!!!!!!! These are worth at the most 89 or 99!!!!

    Good sound, horrible design

    I could go on and on about the audio quality and such but none of it matters unless the headphones can stay in your ears. I found the weird design awkward and pretty uncomfortable. I found I could manage to get it to fit well in my left ear but the one in my right kept falling out and I spent way to much time trying to figure out how to get them to fit right and eventually gave up. Not meant for all kinds of ears I guess, be wary.

    Good products for a limited time though...

    Look. I am not a lier, I am not another company just leaving a bad review, I'm like any other person out there and I love music. Music is my life. Spending almost four hundred dollars a week on iTunes for apps and music is what I do haha and I wanted some good headphones to listen to all the music I have. I bought these December 30th 2011 and now it's in almost the second week of January and the right side of the headphone has completely stopped working. I am not going to lie. I am mad. I spent over 170 dollars on these. I usually just but skull cants but since everyone has said the beats are great and I have never heard of these in my life but a ladie at the apple store in Santa Ana, CA recommended these for me so I took it into consideration since she did have the beats and said they weren't great. But If you do like a good sound go for theses but for what I have went through and now having to return them, I will be researching more headphones.
