    The Remote Is Junk!

I listen to audiobooks all day every day at a full time job that can be loud and dirty and rough. I also listen to all kinds of music at home. I am a maintenance man at a couple of apt. complexes, and I have to pause my audiobooks frequently to talk to tenants or coworkers or bosses, and it's already become an inside joke that it takes WAY TOO LONG for me to find and press the pause button on this thing! I've owned iPhone headsets (prolly around ten at least) from every price point, from $20 (Sony) to $300 (Beats), and these ($190) are the WORST I've ever used! Why is that?! Bowers and Wilkins supplies the monitor speakers for Abbey Road studios. The Beatles are my #1 favorite band, so I thought I'd be buying a quality product because of their connection to my favorite music. I could not have been more wrong about that assumption. *******The remote is round when it should be angular or flat. You can't find the pause/play button fast-enough in this fast-paced world.*******

    That's just the remote.

The bass is there but fake (not as bad as Bose or Beats Studio, though).

The mids and highs are gone, and it is way too forward with caustic, ear-piercing loudness, devoid of tonal quality, though it's not lacking in muffled, muddled gobbledegook. It seems to amplify the worst parts of audio while rendering the front parts way back in the mix.

The adjustable ring comes out of the earpiece. It also bends almost beyond repair (even after being stored in its protective case).

I gave it two stars, because they don't sound as bad as Bose (no bass) or Beats (too much bass). Otherwise, I would have given them a one star rating.

Learn about headphones from HeadRoom (look them up [their in-house product reviews help]) and then go to an Apple Store for your purchase. That's my strategy. Amazon (read product reviews there, though) is just a little too risky for me. I like to see products in person before I buy them.

I am going to return these and maybe get the upper echelon Klipsch from the Apple Store.

    Fantastic! But fit is critical!

I have used 3 Shure models, Entymotic, V-Moda, Bose, and Klipsch. The only ones that sound anywhere as good are the Klipsch (custom 3's, $300) With these B&W's you can hear detail like no other and the bass is deep and tight. If you like that overpowering, boomy bass like Rap has you might want to look elsewhere. I listen to a wide variety of music so I tried these out with Metallica, Theory of a Deadman, Joe Bonamassa, Kings of Leon, Beth Hart, The Rippingtons, Chris Rea, Mark Knofler, and some others. These sound great with them all. One thing, FIT IS CRITICAL! These are not meant to go as deep into the ear canal as others. I can tell some of these reviewers are fitting them wrong. You might need to go to a larger tip than you would normally use because they are meant to sit out farther. The loop is not supposed to fit in the inner ear canal! When I put on the larger tips, the sound really came out nice and warm and full. It took me about 15 seconds to fit initially, listened to a few songs and wasn't overly impressed. Then another 30 seconds to change tips (very tight) popped them back in and WOW! Big difference. If fit properly you can pop these in with a snug fit in 2 seconds. Literally.

Was this useful? Fantastic! But fit is critical!

these headphones are very well made, but you have to adjust the earpieces to your ear so they fit snuggly! at first, i was like my bose{ie2's} are better than this, but then after multiple fits and adjustments. the b &w is way better in every way, the sound is awesome, the fit is snug and the clarity is very clear! this is a pair of advanced headphones, so if you expect put them on and experiene great sound right away, you will be dissapointed, and like every person , no two ear canals are the same, so be patient, then be amazed by the sound!

I bought these last autumn on the strength of the B&W reputation and the good reviews I had seen online. I was using Sennheiser CX400-IIs until then, but wanted something with a built-mic etc. I have owned UEs, Shure E5s, and V-Moda buds in the past.

My initial impression was good build quality, which I would expect at this price point. However, I care primarily about sound quality, then comfort. As far as comfort goes, they took a bit of getting used to (they stay put perfectly, but the feeling of the cable loops is odd at first), but it was well worth it because...

The sound quality is exceptional. I generally listen to music on my iPhone 4S, lossless or at least 256kps files. Plenty of detail, beautifully balanced and open sound. Bass is rich and defined without distracting from other aspects of the music.

This seems to be true across genres. The main sense I get is of great detail and separation. I can easily cast my mind's eye on any element in the mix and follow it. I can hear fingers on the strings of guitars, clearly follow the bass at the bottom and even sense the room air on a shaker. From death metal to 70s classic rock. Jazz and classical also sound beautiful: nice wide and deep soundstage, every detail present.

The biggest revelation, however, was the first time I listened to electronic music on these. They are more than capable of delivering the full range of any dubstep mix I have come across. I hear things in the sub range on these that I don't hear anywhere outside a club. Skrillex, deadmau5 fans - these are heaven.

To summarize then, these are the best earbuds I've owned. Every style of music sounds as good as it can, and they are comfortable to wear for extended periods, sitting still or while active. Great work B&W!

    My search is over

I love great sound and have struggled to find headphones that will both stay in my ears and deliver great sound while I am running. I have tried Bose and Monster on the more expensive end of the scale, but even the latest designs with the interior support clip do not work for my ears.

I purchased the C5 thinking that the wire design was meant to go outside the top of the ear. It actually is made to adjust to fill the inner surface of the ear like the clips on the Monster isolators. I tried this again with the C5s and it still did not work for me. Then I removed the wires from the adjustable guides on the ear bud, reversed the left, right and put the wire over the top of my ear. After slightly adjusting how they were angled into my ear canal, creating a solid contact with the bud, I discovered the sound I was looking for in my workouts. There was solid bass in addition to detailed highs and pleasant mids.

I maybe the only person who has need of this alternate approach, but if you are searching for a great sounding pair of ear buds...give these a try.

I own the P5s and I absolutely LOVE them. But i was looking for something a little more convenient for everyday use so i thought that the C5s would do. I am really disappointed however. I don't find the sound to be nearly as good as the P5s and they are not the most convenient in-ear headphones. The secure loops is a good idea but it get's pretty annoying after a while... Too bad really...

I purchased these on the Apple Black Friday sale ($129). Needless to say they are wonderful earbuds. I have read and watched the original reviews of this product online and on Youtube.

It seems that Bowers & Wilkins have made some minor adjustments in the latest batch of products to address some of the minor concerns of initial reviewers. The cable seems to be well designed and is a little bit more pliable and therefore more comfortable when in the ear. Secondly they altered the carrying case slightly by removing the unnecessary scaffolding that was inside in the original revision.

All in all a great product with outstanding build & sound quality for the price.

These headphones are outside of my typical budget range - I usually spend about $50 or $60 on earbuds from someone like V-Moda. I'm so happy with this set of earbuds, though, that I'll more than likely consider earbuds in this price range in the future, should I need to purchase another set.

This is the nicest and most comfortable set of earbuds I've yet heard. The smallest silicon tips work best for me. Lows, mids and highs are all nice and clear, and the C5s sound great no matter what I'm listening to - primarily rock (like Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Van Halen, etc.), but also some jazz and swing.

    Verdict: BUY.

    Best headphones out there

I've been contemplating either these, the bose mie2i or the monster beats tours. I felt that the monster beats were heavy on the bass and that too many people out there are sporting these (real and fakes). I felt that the bose build quality is a problem and have read and heard many horror stories about peoples bose earphones breaking down every couple months.

After purchasing theses, I was blown away by the balance sounds coming out of these buds. Furthermore they come with a 2 year warranty over the monster beats 1 year warranty. Only thing about these headphones is finding the right tip and the right amount of cord to fit properly and comfortably in your ears. Once found, your will be amazed by the sound being produced.

Bass is not as good in some songs as the Bose In-ear headphones, but that is because it lets you hear every single instrument in the song! Hands down I'll recommend these headphones... I'll tell ya if your looking for headphones in this price range- GET THEM! Hopefully this review would get posted... And ya are happy if you try them out!

Best earphones I had in a long time!

These earphones are great! I bought a pair to replace my lost Etymotic HF3's and I'm not disappointed at all. I first thought they would have to much bass and not enough treble. They actually have a lot of bass, but still have very clean and good sounding mids and highs! For me, having extremely clear mids and highs while still having very rich bass is great! The build quality is also excellent (they are made out of aluminum). There are great, don't hesitate to buy 'em !

I've had my C5's since they came out. Hands down the best in ear head phones I have ever owned and believe me, I've had them all! Bass is super deep and rich. Highs are crisp and clear. Never over powered by the powerful bass response. Highs and lows are cleverly balanced to sound near perfect!

    Elegant Sound...

These are by far some of the best sounding in ear headphones. I have a pair of UE Triple-Fi Pro headphones which have an amazing pure sound but unfortunately they do not make a replacement cable with mic and remote for them. So after some research, I found the C5's, tested them out for a few days and can not believe how pure and elegant the sound these headphones produce is. Moreover, they are sophisticated looking and feel solid. I specially love listening to music at a low volume level... You would be surprised at how much one can hear at low volume with these headphones, perfect mix of Low-Mid and High's! These are a must buy!

    Great sound but twice returned

I love the sound and fit of the C5. Very comfortable and the sound quality is awesome. The problems for me are that the right side stopped working after 2 months. They were covered under warranty so I sent them back and got them fixed. Now the left side intermittently stops working and the volume up button on the inline control turns the volume down. What I am also unhappy about is that because I currently live outside of the US and bought them in the US, I get charged a $25 fee to return them even though they do not have to leave the country where I live to get fixed/replaced. So now I have had to spend an extra $50 because of their manufacturing problems. I take very good care of these because I loved the sound so much and I shouldn't have to spend the extra money because of their problems. It's unfortunate because the sound is so good when they work properly but I would not recommend these because if these issues.

Amazing Bass but breaks very easily

In short, I fell in love with these the instant I put them in my ear. If you listen to bass heavy music, these are a dream. Yet, DO NOT BUY THESE EARBUDS!

After about two months of use, the left earbud no longer works properly. Because I thought I finally found the perfect earbuds, I would take very good care of these. All to no avail though. So I sent them in for repair and got them back within a few weeks. After about three weeks of usage, the problem returned. Now, I have to put my phone in my pocket upside down so that there is pressure on the jack. And only then do they work...sometimes. What a piece of...

I haven't had these too long, but they do fit well and the sound is great! They are on the pricey side, but they may be worth it, it'll be nice to see how tough and long they last without any problems since I've been through quite a few headphones since I've had my iPod and then iPhone. These may take a little time to get used to them in your ears, but the sound is exceptional , I also have some Marshall Minor FX headphones and they are great! great sound, almost the same as these and they are less money and they fit perfect and you forget you're wearing them they are so comfortable, but once I've used these ones a little longer I will rewrite a review to be fair. I like them both a lot!

I've had Apple's in-ear headphones and dr dre ibeats. The B&W headphones are, by far, superior sound. There are several ear bud tips that come with them. Make sure you try them out for fit. When I first put these on, I was disappointed. When I put the tips on that fit right (duh), the sound was fantastic. They stay in my ears well and are more comfortable.

I just purchased the C5 Headphones... I initially bought the Klipsch, great headphones but lacked bass. I took them back after a day and purchased the C5. Theses headphones have it all. I listen to a wide genre of music and it covers them all. It has the bass, the high's and the mid's, crip clean music. Very natural and realistic sound the music feels remarkably rich and expansive.
