This stand is nice, well built with good material. Easy to transport and pretty light.

However, even if it can be used in portrait and landscape mode, only the landscape is more stable.
Also, the portrait does not support the plug of the USB charge cable. In fact there is not enough space at the bottom to pug it.

In conclusion, I will not recommend it.

and not one that truly considers convenience. Two traits Apple users have unfortunately(?!) come to expect of accessories. Design, good design is a marriage of form and function. Both are lacking here. It's application barely warrants the sole function to which I use it, a photo album stand in my foyer. The stand fails to meet what I believe to be a satisfactory degree of stability when preforming functions, often tipping. Gamers beware. The reach of the main support legs are just within the requisite distance to hold it up. This characteristic demonstrates a lack of intuitiveness in design as the supports interrupts volume control depending how you prefer your iPad situated in landscape, adjusting proper access to the volume incurs a further decease in it's stability. Given my present experience using the iPad I would have undoubtedly opted for a stand that was more "cumbersome". Unlike my iTouch and iPhone the interaction is markable different and by definition requires one to make due consideration before prematurely buying a stand; cases for that matter, too.
