    Clever little punchy thing

Love this for removing some of the clutter on my desk, and for travelling.
It's not just the lack of a wire to the plug, but that the plug is always a whacking great transformery thing that weighs a ton.
Sound pretty punchy, and neatly designed.
Most Apple-like speaker out there in terms of design philosophy and simplicity.

    Solid Design, Crisp Audio

The best way to describe the sound of these speakers is (in my mind) "crisp". Hi-hats and cymbals come across crystal clear. The mid-tone ranges sound solid. The only reason for subtracting one star is the bass tonal quality. It doesn't pack much of a punch, and the bases sound a bit muted. The solution here would be to add a bass cube, making it a 2.1 system, which I would find appropriate for the current price -- or maybe up to as much as 179.99, but not more.

Regarding their construction: they are sturdy and feel solid. The only improvement that could be made is to where the stands attach to the speakers: they are screwed on through a single hole, allowing the speakers to twist diagonally when handled. Perhaps the stand fixture area on the speaker could include notches to prevent this.

One other thing I noticed right off the bat, and that I have a little trouble with: the speaker-to-speaker cable is short, no more than 3 feet. I would appreciate a 6-foot cable here, so that I can place the speakers on the far sides of my desk.

Would I buy these speakers again? Yes, they are excellent workstation speakers. However, if you are an audiophile, make sure you have a bass unit to compliment these speakers. Aside from the bass, they sound great. And don't take me wrong, the bass isn't bad, just not at the same level as the mid- and high-ranges on these speakers.

How do they do it? Great sound from very small compact speakers. Very easy hookup with all necessary cables being supplied. Not only sounds great, but looks great.
Only Bass freaks will be disappointed and you can always add a sub. Glad to get rid of the larger speakers I had....they only added clutter to my desk.
    Great work UCube .

    Good for $75 - not $150...

I purchased these speakers after studying some pretty good reviews - and I agree with much of what's written. They're well made, look great, and are a definite upgrade over built-in computer speakers.
However, it doesn't strike me as a $150 upgrade.
Of course, with no sub there's not going to be rattling bass, but it's really not much more than the sound coming from the computer already. But that didn't surprise me as much as the overall lack of precision and clarity I'd hoped for.
In my opinion, there are far better sounding speakers on the market for $150 and some that sound better for half that.

Have this plugged in my iMac for more than a week, first the sound is about the same as the iMac, but after a few days of the break-in period, it finally release its full potential, mid range of this speaker is the best, it produce a very clean digital sound directly from the USB port, not like those cheapo analog speaker, the base however is not that strong.
What I like most is it the quality build, friends think it is another i product from Apple.

I received these as a Christmas gift from my wife. These speakers match the styling and color of the iMac and MacBook Pro lines very well. Mid range sound of the speakers are the best. They are compact, easy to setup, and simple just like an Apple product. Definitely would recommend.

Great sound for a pair of computer speakers.

nice sound and good aesthetics. cable connecting the two speakers was too short for my set up. I have a 30" cinema display and wanted one speaker on one side of my desk and the other on the opposite side. However, the RCA cable was only 24" long, so luckily I had a 6 foot RCA audio cable. It's not going to replace a high end audio system, but for a pair of desktop speakers, they are top notch. i love that they don't require yet another wire for power and simply run off the powered USB in the back of my monitor. i would absolutely recommend these to anyone looking for a good quality, excellent sound set of desktop speakers.

Love my little UCube speakers. Great sound for the price. They are so compact and look great, matching my MacBook. Setup was easy. All I had to do was select the speakers within System Preferences under sound. They are basically plug & play. They have a USB connection to the computer and the cubes are joined by a cord. Sometimes I leave my MacBook on my cafe table in the kitchen and leave the speakers connected on the window sill. That's how much I like the look. Music while I'm cooking is always so relaxing. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. The only thing better would be if they came out with a wireless version. Complete perfection.

I just picked up these speakers at my favorite Apple store today, hooked them up to my iMac and cranked up iTunes. They sound great, turned up, with zero distortion. I am so glad I bought them.

    love 'em

I received my new UCubes less than a week ago, but they have made life at the computer way more fun. Listening to my iTunes is incredible now and I can’t wait to turn them on. My only possible regret is that I should maybe have bought the UCubeTrio system with the tiny subwoofer. With its extra bass, it probably makes these speakers sound even more awesome. Thanks UCube, I feel like dancing 24/7 now!
