Try this if you want to type with the iPad on your lap.

    • Written by from Westerville

This is a great case for the keyboard and perfect for either the iPad or iPad Mini (which is what I have). The one think that I didn't like was needing to sit at a desk or table for this case to work well, it didn't seem to work well when sitting on my lap. That's until I tried folding the stand backwards. In all the pictures you see the sides of the case folded down so the flat part is sticking up and making a stand for the iPad, if you simply fold it so the two "legs" are facing towards you with the flat part on the bottom, it makes for a great stand to use while holding the keyboard and iPad in your lap. It's hard to explain without pictures, but here's another way to explain what I'm talking about. When using this case as shown in the pictures, the corners of the stand rest on the table, with the middle part of the top cover being used to hold the iPad in an upright position. To use this stand for typing on your lap (much as most people do with a laptop when sitting on a couch, just reverse the fold and have the corners folded in towards you and acting as the stand to hold up the iPad, while allowing the middle of the cover to offer support for resting on your legs when sitting. Hope this helps=)

Where have you been all my life???

    • Written by from Calgary

If you really want to use a keyboard with your iPad, this is the way to go!!!

I wanted to easily go from typing to using my iPad without a keyboard.

I've tried a number of folio keyboards and keyboard cases and the problem has always been either the quality of the keyboard and/or the case and the ability to quickly and easily separate the iPad from the case.

Now you have the best of all worlds, you can use a solid keyboard (Apples) and sit your iPad in the workstation then just pick up your iPad and go without any trouble.

    Go go Incase Origami!!!

Wonderful Product, but One Note about the iPad Air

    • Written by from Nashville

This product is great. I have tried many keyboard solutions only to return them all. After purchasing this product, I have finally been able to turn my iPad into my primary computing device. I use it with an iPad Air and it works wonderfully. I have on small complaint however. This product has not been updated for specifically for the Air creating one minor problem: there are not screen bezels to lift it. In other words, when using pages, I often have to lift the iPad out of the workstation to successfully touch functions such as alignment, text size, and bold/italics/underline.

Overall, though, greatest keyboard solution out there and the best I have been able to find!

    Because toys are for kids....

    • Written by from Brooklyn

This is the ideal keyboard solution for Ipad or Ipad mini. Provides a really useful grownup keyboard when needed and goes completely away when not. I love to snicker at colleagues in meetings trying to type on chicklets and enduring bulky cases that rob these tablets of all their appeal.

The tablets drop right into the little nook provided with no fuss and sit solidly in place until they are lifted out. The keyboard doesn't come out unless necessary and when it goes away it's neatly stowed in the elegant wrapper.

    Great Keyboard Case!

    • Written by from Bozeman

This case not only protects my Apple bluetooth keyboard, but is also a very useful and sturdy workstation for my iPad. I got it in red, and it matches my red smart case for iPad perfectly! Definitely a great buy at a great price! Worth every penny.

I've had this for a few years and it is just GREAT !

    • Written by from San Jose

Makes your iPad work just like a laptop. Fits the Apple wireless keyboard and the iPad perfectly. I bought it when I had the 1st generation iPad, and now I have an iPad mini. It works great with both. Not only that, it is also a wonderful protective shield for your keyboard.

    Fantastic, elegant solution

I love this case. I do a lot of blogging and writing while I'm on the go, and I hate cramped, miniature keyboards. So I picked up an Apple BT keyboard and this case to use with my iPhone.

    All good except the Velcro

    • Written by from Grand Rapids

I love the convenience and function of this stand. However, the Velcro quickly lost it's grip and I am constantly fighting with a stand that is flopping.

As a Grad student, this product works with my iPad as a laptop replacement

    • Written by from Austin

I use this product with my iPad (3rd generation). I did a lot of research before buying this product (along with the apple wireless keyboard). Here is my reasoning:

First let me state that originally I wanted to get a new Macbook Pro this semester, but with my financial aid offering, it wasn't in the cards this semester. I currently have an older Macbook Pro that is >5 years old and the battery life is <2 hours (WiFi off, bluetooth off, energy saver on, display set to lowest visible setting). My classes are 2.5 to 3 hours long each and none of the rooms have electrical outlets accessible to the students.

Since I already had an iPad that gets over 6 hours of life per charge, I investigated ways to make this set up work for this semester. The other iPad keyboard option that looked like a reasonable option was the one built by Logitech. The reason I chose the Origami Workstation is because this product is future proof. Chances are in favor of Apple changing the form factor of the iPad in the next generation which may not fit in the groove of the Logitech product. In addition, I already have a case for my iPad that I really like that fully protects the front and back of the iPad. With the Logitech option, it is incompatible with cases that cover the back of the iPad. Also, the Apple wireless keyboard is built like a tank, and is very energy efficient. Many of the other iPad keyboard options feel to flimsy.

The Incase Origami Workstation does a great job of protecting the Apple Keyboard and keeps my iPad propped up at great viewing angle.

I have run into one tiny hiccup with this product, you need to make a habit of either turning off the keyboard, or turning off the bluetooth on the iPad prior to putting them into your bag. A few times I have forgot and I'll be walking down the hall or stepping into an elevator and my iPad will start playing music from inside my backpack because a button on the keyboard is being pressed. (This was slightly embarrassing). Now I just remember to turn off the bluetooth.

I also want to mention that I use the 'Notability' app on my iPad to take notes. Every student NEEDS this app. It can convert Powerpoint slides to PDF files, with you can then take notes on and highlight in addition to recording the audio of the lecture and time-stamping your notes to the audio.

    I hope this is helpful!

    Intelligent design-Poor Execution

    • Written by from Magill

I really admire the design of this case and decided to purchase this with the Apple blue tooth keyboard.

Unfortunately, The product malfunctioned and the velcro fell off the case with only two uses. I was shocked and disappointed by this. Furthermore, the design does not permit a good working angle for those who plan to type on the Ipad for an extended period of time. Consequently, I would not recommend this due to ergonomic issues and built.

I suggest the manufacturer considers using clipping system as opposed to cheap velcro approach currently employed in this product.

    Simple, elegant, functional design

    • Written by from SACRAMENTO

Delighted to see this now being sold at the Apple store. After trying and returning another brand iPad case that incorporated a mini keyboard (the keyboard was too small to be useful) I purchased this two years ago. Though I don't use it all the time, it is a great accessory that I recommend highly. For the reviewer who panned it as poor design, if you turn it off when carrying it around, you will never have accidental keystrokes.

I have a wifi only iPad; I've even used this stand & keyboard with my iPhone.

Very convenient. When Bluetooth is on iPad battery drains fast. Simple solution turn off when not in use. Conserves keyboard battery too.

Was considering getting one of those fancy all in 1 keyboard cases for my new iPad 4,but couldn't justify the expense as I have an apple wireless keyboard that I wasn't using much. I paired the 2 and they work great. I used the origami workstation on the plane today with my ipad in its case. The viewing angle and stability was fine This keyboard case protects the wireless keyboard nicely as well.I was able to leave my heavy A frame stand at home. This arrangement is cost effective and flexible as you aren't locked in to a keyboard if you don't want.

    Very nice idea

    • Written by from San Diego

I bought this on a lark and find myself using it all the time. Well put together, it holds your keyboard securely for traveling around and forms a very sturdy place to secure your iPad. Especially good for people who do a lot of writing on the go, though I usuall use it at home. I'm using mine with an iPad 3 but since the iPad just sits there on top the iPad mini should be fine too.

    Flawed design

    • Written by from Lutherville

I bought this to transport my keyboard to/from work with my iPad. Tried it for 3 days, but then returned it. If your iPad is just going to sit on your desk, it serves the purpose, as long as you don't prefer portrait orientation with the charger plugged in (doesn't sit very well that way).

BUT if you want to actually carry it around, you will find that the keys can get pressed and suddenly there is music coming from your iPad while you walk down the street. The design really needs to incorporate a way to keep the keys from being pressed while you carry it. Otherwise, there are better solutions if you just want to use an iPad at your desk.

I love this product.... as for the velcro tabs...

    • Written by from ANCHORAGE

The velcro tabs are larger than they need to be. If a user is in the habit of very firmly pressing the tabs into place, I can see that disengaging the tabs might eventually cause the velcro to come lose.

This is a very simple, well designed product.

One trick that I think the designers missed: the bottom of the cover is fairly slick. A low profile, non skid foot could have been added in two places on the bottom, protected under the velcro tabs, or close along side them, when the cover is closed; and exposed and useful when cover is opened.

Users should remember to turn the keyboard off when done using the keyboard and closing the cover. Subsequent handling will cause random keys to be depressed (through the somewhat flexible cover) wake the keyboard and cause music to start playing (or some other function) on the iPad.

I love traveling with my iPad, wireless keyboard, and this cover.

    Awesome solution

    • Written by from Fort Lupton

So, for those of you that are still using the original iPad, and not seeing the point in purchasing a new one, this is a great addition. I am able to carry around my Apple Wireless keyboard with me, without worrying about protection. It does that job just fine, and with the simple style it uses, how could it not?

On to the function. This is a great add on for those of you that use your ipad for typing notes. I like the on screen keyboard, but it isn't always as accurate as I need for my note taking. Also, my biggest complaint is that there is no tab key... The Origami allows me to use my full size keyboard to type notes more effectively in class, or wherever for that matter that I can use a hard suface to set up.

If you have a wireless keyboard and need a better solution, FOR ANY STYLE IPAD, go for this. Also, for the price of this plus the keyboard, you can't really go wrong. Don't waste your money on those chinese made keyboard folio cases that you find all over ebay. My fingers need real keys that feel real and function properly!

best iPad/BT Kb gadget so far!!!

    • Written by from Quebec

I was shopping at an Apple store for something else when i saw this product. Wow!! So simple and so effective, truly an Apple-grade product. Hopefully i won't have the problem with the velcro stuff. Before seeing these reviews, it's the first thing that came to my mind when unpacking the product. They don't seem to be made to last for years. I like this so much i might go buy a second one for backup if InCase ever stop making them.

Close tab came unglued after a handful of uses

    • Written by from Santa Clara

I've only had the case for less than two months and used it a handful of times. But one of the velcro tabs to keep the case closed has already come unglued. It's frustrating to have to take the time to return something so soon.
